+ 11 Boys - Check your nuts
This one is directed purely at the boys, but ladies feel free to chime in.
Before I continue, please be 100% clear I don't want sympathy etc, I've never been lick my wounds and feel sorry for myself. What I do want it to draw attention to something that I think most of us guys don't bother doing. Not something I particularly want to tell others about if I'm honest, but I think it's important that others learn from my mistake.
So a couple of months ago in the shower I noticed a lump in one of my testicles. No idea how long it had been there, I don't check to be honest. Sorry for the graphic details! Have to admit I've been fatigued a lot recently, but I've taken on a new role at work and have been spending too many hours there so I put it down to that. Did what I usually would do, ignored it, it will go away etc. Well it didn't, it still hasn't. Went to the doctor about three weeks ago, referred to specialist etc. Yesterday I was informed I have testicular cancer.
Quite a surreal experience yesterday to put it mildly. Defined currently as stage 2 so the prognosis is pretty good. Surgeon, (cross your legs lads), is sharpening his scalpel to remove Mr Left Testicle in the very near future, at this stage there is no sign of any spread elsewhere in the usual secondary areas. I'll obviously need chemo after the surgery, but should make a decent recovery. Statistically the numbers are pretty good.
Again - No sympathy. I'm uncomfortable typing this. If I'm truthful I've typed it and deleted it a couple of times as I'm not really one for sharing stuff like this. What I do want is simple. Guys - Check! Over here in the UK the women are lectured about breast cancer constantly, testicular cancer nowhere near as much.

Yikes. I was awake for my vasectomy, but it wasn't quite the extreme yours was.

Surgery tomorrow afternoon UK time. Guess I'll be kept in overnight from past experience as it's later in the day. (Same place I had my shoulder surgery done). Enough time to go to the gym first then off to the hospital. Going to hit legs on the basis that I'm obviously going to be sore walking for a few days anyway, may as well do the job properly ;)

Catalyst, my brother, many prayers are being sent up for you. I can only imagine what is going through your mind. I'm sorry your having to deal with this all but I'm glad you went when you did. I'll continue to pray for you and for a speedy recovery. We love my friend and we're all here for you how ever we can.

All joking aside, that was the point. I don't check and considering I work in pharmaceuticals, I should know better. Left another 6 months, I could have been in deep shit.
Your damn right on that one bro. Lucky. Maybe you should have em take both just in case, might help with balance too. That and keeping your legs tight on leg extensions.

So I've set myself a challenge that I'm going to put out here to motivate me to get through this with as little damage to my physique as possible.
I have a competition planned in for August 22nd, I've that for obvious reasons I was going to withdraw from. Well I'm not withdrawing. I'm planning to enter. My surgery is in five days and this morning I'm 282lbs at 11%. I'm going to eat like a horse and train like an animal for the next four days them I'm straight back into it working around chemo. I'm inevitably going to lose some size, but I still think I could be 230-235 stage condition.
Might sound ridiculous, but it gives me something to aim for. I'm known for being stubborn.....
Having a goal in sight to motivate you is one of the best things to help get through this. Remember, it is all about conditioning. You may lose some size but walk on stage with perfect conditioning and you should blow them away. I walked all over guys that were 70lbs heavier than me in the overalls and still blew them away, due to my conditioning. You will have to dig deep on this one but the reward in the end should be even sweeter due to that fact.
I'll be honest Makwa, I've always been a bit of a "one trick pony". I'm big, that's my strength and it's not something I find as difficult as others to achieve. I've got away with weaknesses in other areas using that before where my conditioning has been 7/10 rather than 10/10. I'll lose that 20lb advantage I'm used to this time, so the playing field will be even. This way I'll have nothing to hide behind and I should improve my game, even if I get it all wrong and come dead last!!!
Chemo is one way to cut. ;) best of luck. Mind over matter.
you can do anything you set your mind too, with your experience and expertise, i believe you can do it, everyone will be cheering you on, good luck mate!

Sorry to hear that Cat but glad that you caught it early. Stage 2 the odds are very much in your favor wishing you a full recovery. Are you llA or llB?

Your in good shape. You got this. Stay positive and when your wife gets down tell her think Lance Armstrong who was diagnosed in 1996 with stage 4. Your a warrior and a survivor.

I'm grateful that you did share this Cat, it's a sobering reminder to us more mature guys to quite dicking around and pay attention to things of this nature, especially the prostate, and testicular region. I get the no sympathy, but non the less I feel empathy and compassion for your situation, family included. Happy to hear you found this in its early stages and the prognosis is rather good, you're a warrior brother never forget that. Even if it's not your thing I'll be praying for you, also look forward to the future post when you come back here to tell us you beat this.

Damn, brother the C word is scary no matter what type. One of my close friends since childhood died of testicular cancer at 27 because he ignored it for too long. Good on you for realizing there was a problem and getting it checked out.
Can you describe the lump? Every once in awhile towards of the bottom of my left one it gets a dense area on the bottom of it. I looked it up before and it sounded like my condition was more of the normal sort but hearing first hand what the lump feels like won't hurt.
Anyway brother you are stronger than 99% of the population and I have no doubt that will aid in your treatment and recovery. Kick cancers ass my friend!
Graphic details - About pea sized, reasonably hard to the touch. Not painful to the touch, but does feel a little sore like the testicle is being squeezed a little if that makes sense?
Just get it checked mate. I kept making excuses, "I'm busy at work etc". Early on the prognosis is very good, but as Italian mentioned if it hits stage 3 or 4 you could be on borrowed time in terms of it spreading. The stats at that point are far more ugly.
Hope u get through it cat I know u Said were standoff ish about posting glad u did not saying its good thing it just put it n my face that I should make sure I go the doctor always putting it off to the last min when its to late anything could go wrong especially bcuz we are doing AAS anything could happen and should take care of our our body's again wish u and wife the best
