+ 9 a different perspective for a first time user...ask yourself this...

ad

Have you truly developed a passion and love for lifting? Or do you do it for the vanity of it? To be big? To get compliments?(which mean shit in the end) You like the attention? As a means to an end? If you haven't become one with the actual process of lifting, and can't call lifting a love, the day will come when you quit and burn out. All those cycles and stress put on the body will be for nothing. My advice is determine whether or not you actually love lifting. If you think about it day in day out. If you actually enjoy the physical process of it. Not just blindly using it to get to point b. Because the lifting aspect...should be the point b. That should be the part you love most. The muscle growth should be a side effect. If you aren't 100% into pressing pulling curling weight, then there is no reason to use gear. The gains you achieve while on gear will disappear when you quit lifting. They are not permanent! If you can talk yourself out of workout, then go ahead and talk yourself out of using gear. And if that's the case, you my friend are not infatuated with lifting, your blindly in lust with the thought. That is not a negative thing either, save yourself the commitment of using AAS and apply your efforts towards something that does consume your every waking thought...continue to workout...just dont buy a top fuel dragster to be an everyday driver...this basically was a comment I made on another topic and thought a new user might benefit from...Edit:compliments validate hard work and create a motivational environment. They mean shit when they are the main driving force...

You know what...you will continue to be the best version of yourself monster or not. Your reasons brother, need no validation...they are yours.

I think in this lifestyle honesty with yourself is a huge aspect. There is not a damn thing to prove when its all said and done. Only to yourself. You know if you are truly giving it all you've got. You know if you really left some on the table and had more to give.

Brother you strive to be the best version of yourself under the weights and outside the gym. When your mental is firing off positive, everything falls into place seamlessly. We create our state of mind and we determine how hard we push ourselves day in day out.

Strength is not only physical...it is a projection of what resonates within us! Keep smashing on them weights no matter what brother!

bolt781's picture

The natural mechanics of the body is for forward movement. We are designed to progress! So shall each and every one of us! Knuckles brother Mak!

warpAqualung's picture

When i started i did it for health. I was a stoner on my teenager days, smoked 20cigs a day minimum and had no motivation at all to do anything (not studying and not working).

I edited this message to make things short: thanks to bodybuilding (including juicing) my life is better.

bolt781's picture

Once you get in a rhythm it definitely keeps you driven and motivated! Awesome you turned some negatives into a positive from it...knuckles brother!

bolt781's picture

You clearly took this up the wrong path..."a different perspective" meaning look at the decision to use AAS from a different angle. I hate on no one, in fact I try and bring a positive atmosphere to everyone I interact with here.

What's more effective is lifting and nutrition, then gear once you've developed a discipline. You might not have noticed in the title as well...first time user.

You're entitled to an opinion but fully comprehend what you are taking in to come to your conclusion.

Now I don't really care much for you...so get to lifting brutal and save your tears for when you've actually lifted with intensity...you're going to need them! Fk off and have a wonderful day Edit: I assure the mods there will be no back and forth...I once got satisfaction handling adversity by making that adversity snore laying on the pavement...now I get more satisfaction from helping someone that is good hearted. This disagreement is over.. Ty for your time

Look man

You know what i fkn hate that type of dominant wording to open up a conversation.... no i said that wrong, its fkn confrontation not conversation.

Someone one sent me a PM the other day with the exact same words as the opening comment...... i swear to god if a man spoke to that way in real life he would now be fkn toothless!!.

God how i love "eye contact" and "body language"...... for tampering down any form of confrontation in the real world..... but! unfortunately on this wonderful thing we call the cybernet any fkn measly weasel pencil necked fat bellied fuckhead can turn into a keyboard commando... it fkn sickens me.

I apologise for going off topic on this thread but its just something i had to say... maybe its something we all could learn from, or at least control before we let rip hitting the keyboard..... dunno!

We all know that old saying..... "if you talk like a cunt .. you will be treated as a cunt"........... well! you know what im getting at.

Pale's picture

LOL...Is that right?

VIKING EVOLUTION's picture

FKN damn right......... i take it you disagree?.......... well thats fine by me, because after all its only the internet right!........... LMFAO like anything really matters at the end of the day right?

(Disagreement is not a rule breach ... is it?. . but i will bear it mind)

vhman's picture

Look man! ;-). I do have a question. Conversely, if someone acts like they like cunt, will they be treated to cunt? Just wondering.

bolt781's picture

Amazing question hahaha

The Mrs. and I signed up for pilates this Saturday...this should be interesting lol...knuckles brother!

VIKING EVOLUTION's picture

Superb bro...... takes a bit of getting used to, its like totally different from the the blood N guts stuff that you are used to but it does help with suppleness and gives a bit of pain relief i find..... at first i found it a little hard to concentrate due to being surrounded by women and my eyes got most of the exercise lol..... but yeah its something i never envisaged me doing.. but hey! thats why i have the Evolution behind my name Smile

I Evolved to the gentler side of exercise............ who knows Crossfit next huh? ...... hahaaa

bolt781's picture

Hahaha crossfit is something I just cant fathom you doing no matter what you evolve into brother! A lion never becomes a sheep!... Balancing on one of them yoga balls curling a db in one hand and a kettlebell in the other...I ain't buying it haha!

I'm already aware Im going to be the elephant in the room lol. The simplest of stretches is no easy task so I look forward to really puting effort into this. I'm also well aware there is probably going to be yoga ass all up in my face and I'm also well aware my lady will cut me hahaha. Hopefully its bright so I can justify wearing sunglasses in doors lol. Any pain relief is a great thing. So use to working through nagging ailments, it would be nice to alleviate some.

Fuckin crossfit....hahaha still laughin brother

bolt781's picture

This all stemmed from being asked if I can still put on my socks ha! Which I cant lie, is a pain in the ass. I need some flexibility in my life! I feel like a damn oak tree at times. My Mrs. is all hyped for it. I'm going all in brother versatility is a virtue. I hope there is space in this class because it could get real ugly real quick haha!

VIKING EVOLUTION's picture

Hahahahaa,,,..... yeah i know, i fkn crack up every time i even imagine myself doing some of that Kamikaze shit they do.

It must high up on the list of most injuries during exercise chart lol............ nah! bro not for uncle vikes Smile

These guys really are Suicide Jockeys.

Just a million injuries in a sniff............. unbelievable.

like those crazy fucked up swinging pull ups they do. it looks like they are going to rip their arms off.

VIKING EVOLUTION's picture

i saw a kid doing those, he was wearing tights with baggy shorts over the top, he had his head shaved at the sides and this fkn tiny pony tail WTF!........ false tan, designer trimmed face hair, looked like a right fkn queer... and there i am in a pair of Dickie work pants and walking boots, five year old vest and a pair of gloves that smell like they have been on a rotting corpse for 50yrs lol and a belt on that would make a nice collar for a Rhino.

Easy to work out which one of us was planning for self destruction that day hahahaha.

The Impastable's picture

Amen to that brother... I bring nothing but an inzer belt (with the lever, love that fucking thing), lots of chalk, and dark chocolate/some other small sweets. I have a pair of beat up versa grips that I've had resown a few times, but I barely use them since learning to use chalk and the hook grip.

No rubber bands, no full duty arm sleeve lifting gloves like some of these dickheads wear nowadays, no stretchy bitch assists, nothing. I used to bring a change of underwear in case I shit myself trying to deadlift too much...

VIKING EVOLUTION's picture

Perfect bro.... very workmanlike and geared up for some serious blood, sweat and tears ( and a quick poo in your case lol).......... yeah, nasal spray in the fkn pocket and a pint of milk waiting for the post w/o Glug Smile

(Inzer... best belts ever......... the older ones are best for some reason )

Re-stitched gloves and Gorilla glue lmao!..... we are some scuffy fucks arnt we, no wonder those CF fucks stay well clear hahahaaa

The Impastable's picture

Haha, I used to have really bad stomach issues after chewing through allergy medications about two years ago. it was a scary thought, not being certain whether you wouldn't have an accident while deadlifting, but would rather shit your pants in front of everyone than not deadlift... Sacrifices brother!

I've heard time and time again about older gear being much better than the newer gear... Funny how all these new technologies being put into the gear we use and they still can't compete with decades old tech...

I've gone through about 4 pairs of gloves in two years, and at 60$ a pop I got tired of shelling out my beef money for that shit. Had them re-stitched for $7 at a tailor, good as new. Granted I haven't really used them all that much now since they really assisted me more than I should have let them. My weak link was my grip, so now it's chalk and blood, with gloves for only the heaviest pulls.

I have thought about getting some of those ammonia salts for my heavy lifting, maybe to help prevent the light headedness that comes with... And hell who knows, maybe once these crossfit bunnies see someone huffing salts and throwing weights around, they'll find a much more mellow gym to attend... Like the McDonald's jungle gyms...

VIKING EVOLUTION's picture

I think its all about money these days bro... everything is made with a short life span so the repeat sales are high!... not just training gear but cars, tellys, kitchen gear etc... stuff busts even from a bad look its made so weak .. America and Britain are known for making solid items but so much shit is being farmed in from places like China and India that is made in sweat shops and real poor fkn quality, its a shame but its happening.

The Impastable's picture

Understandably so, given the deteriorating margins in production most companies face... Fun fact about "Made in USA" items: For this sticker to be applicable to any item, only the final assembly of the item needs to occur in the USA. Which means I can have an entire toaster oven built and pre-assembled into two pieces in China, and then have a worker put the two pieces together here and BAM! Made in USA applicable! I honestly feel less and less that it's the components and where the thing is made, and more and more that it's the fault of the companies having lax QC over their manufacturers.

Take construction equipment for example... almost everything is manufactured in Taiwan or China or some other country known for mass manufacture plants, and yet two competing brands can have completely different standards and quality when it comes to the same product. Ryobi for example, is complete and utter shit... and then you can have Makita, which actually makes some quality product. Dewalts new lines come to mind... made in USA with "global materials"...

VIKING EVOLUTION's picture

Yeah you are right ........ i am a Dewalt diehard funnily enough, but my son is a Makita lover and he swears that gear is better.......... arrrgh!! tool wars!!!!

Funny as fuck... father and son arguing over who has the best tools lmao!

He shuts up when i bring out the big guns........... Hilti bet you have used Hilti bro yea?

The Impastable's picture

IMO Makita used to make some of the best quality tools at an acceptable and affordable price. Of course there were better out there for premiums. I'm the same way with my father funny enough!

I have used Hilti, although I am not impressed by their cordless options. They have some of the better corded tools (better quality and power than Makita corded), and especially their heavier duty tools...

i think festool takes the gold for best tools in my opinion, but they come with quite a hefty premium.

Pale's picture

I was all Dewalt, especially our cordless tools until last year when I bought a couple of the new Milwaukee M18's , once I saw how crazy long they last on a charge I outfitted the whole crew. I cannot say enough about how impressive the entire lineup is. I also have a gang of circular saws, DEwalt, hitachi, Skil, etc, but my personal favorite is the Makita, hands down.

The Impastable's picture

Interesting. I preferred Makita to the older Dewalt, but maybe that's mostly due to the older Dewalt tools being heavy, cumbersome, and what I believed to be underpowered (Hilti had the same tools but always felt they were of a higher quality).

I myself have a Makita circular saw, and it stills does it's job like a champ. I use it mostly for rougher cuts however. When I used to work in the field, the millwork installation were done using Festool track saws, and my sweet baby jesus those things are magnificent - they went through wood the way a hot knife goes through butter, and the built in Vacs left an almost dust free environment. Their brushless tools are also pretty impressive, but I didn't get the chance to use too many of them before switching to office work... and good luck convincing the misses that I need an entire collection of high end tools now for minimal house/apartment work...

I am curious as to if you've handled the new 20V line from Dewalt (I believe they are brushless) and if you did, how they compare to the M18s from Milwaukee - which i too have used when borrowing from my father and am looking to buy into as a series... another plus with the M18s, especially the drills & drivers, is that they are incredibly light compared to the competition.

tonytulo's picture

I have the whole line of festool in the garage. Wont use anything but that, you get what you pay for.....

The Impastable's picture

I envy you, Festool is to tools what Pharmagrade is to AAS.

tonytulo's picture

Once you get one you want them all. Once you get them you will never go back, that's for sure. I could use my chop saw on carpet with the vac attached and not one spec of dust gets away.

Pale's picture

The 20v felt much heavier to me when I was looking at them. I honestly cannot sing the praises of these M18's enough. I have ran screws entire days without having to charge. They are fantastic. And I should clarify on the circular saws most of my cutting is plywood or fascia type work. If I was really trying to cut smooth and clean I would likely switch to my Dewalt that has a lower RPM.
