+ 9 a different perspective for a first time user...ask yourself this...

ad

Have you truly developed a passion and love for lifting? Or do you do it for the vanity of it? To be big? To get compliments?(which mean shit in the end) You like the attention? As a means to an end? If you haven't become one with the actual process of lifting, and can't call lifting a love, the day will come when you quit and burn out. All those cycles and stress put on the body will be for nothing. My advice is determine whether or not you actually love lifting. If you think about it day in day out. If you actually enjoy the physical process of it. Not just blindly using it to get to point b. Because the lifting aspect...should be the point b. That should be the part you love most. The muscle growth should be a side effect. If you aren't 100% into pressing pulling curling weight, then there is no reason to use gear. The gains you achieve while on gear will disappear when you quit lifting. They are not permanent! If you can talk yourself out of workout, then go ahead and talk yourself out of using gear. And if that's the case, you my friend are not infatuated with lifting, your blindly in lust with the thought. That is not a negative thing either, save yourself the commitment of using AAS and apply your efforts towards something that does consume your every waking thought...continue to workout...just dont buy a top fuel dragster to be an everyday driver...this basically was a comment I made on another topic and thought a new user might benefit from...Edit:compliments validate hard work and create a motivational environment. They mean shit when they are the main driving force...

I appreciate the recommendation, I will be in the market for a few new tools this spring so I may end up investing in the M18s... It'll be an easier sell to the misses as opposed to festool!

tonytulo's picture

I only use Dewalt and fesstool. Slowly made the change to fesstool and I will not be using anything but that. My nail guns are senco and my tankless passloads. See here in the heat those batteries will not last long, the sun and heat here kills them. I always get extended warranties on all my shit with the amount I use it , why not? I always liked Makita but never used them tbh. If I hire a guy and he shows up with Ryobi we have problems already lmfao.

Pale's picture

For our nailguns, and mind you mine are specialized and get used heavier than any other trade. I have tried many and honestly I like the Hitachi guns best. We had a senco for awhile and it wasn't a bad gun, but heavier and slower than our Hitachi and Bostich.

tonytulo's picture

See I need finish guns your using coils right? I don't need speed I need perfection Smile

Pale's picture

Exactly, even our framers..

Tool thread.

See this is what we need to get the board talking again lol........... i actually learnt something today Smile

No point me swapping out my tool armoury, too late in the day unfortunately.... this one last renovation and thats me done,,, cash in the bank and go and soak my toes for a bit lol... probably will keep hold of some cordless gear just for maintenance purposes, the rest will just gave to go, that will hard though because i treat my tools like my children hahaha

Dacky's picture

Hahahaha. You guys crack me up. Best (or wait is it worst) thing I've seen recently is some hipster type doing all sorts of calisthetic moves all over the weight lifting area. I mean I'm really happy that you can spin yourself around like some 14 year old Russian gymnast girl but please fuck off out of the rack. Some of us actually need to use it to squat with an actual bar with weight one either end. Drives me nuts - especially as he looks at himself in the mirror after every move.

VIKING EVOLUTION's picture

lol yeah... you it nailed bro........... CF is actual fkn Ballerina training hahaha

Thats now official on eroids..... CROSSFIT is for budding ***BALLERINAS.

+3 for solving the facken mystery of this crazed training fad.

"to be big"

Sometimes has its negatives. People make assumptions about who you are, what "type" you are. I get it all the time. Because of my size and shaved hair I look like someone I'm not.

I used to thinking lift to her big. I don't. I do it because I love it and it's part of who i am. It's an outlet, I'm a better person because of it.

bolt781's picture

Because of my size and shaved hair I look like someone I'm not.<------This is myself to a tee as well! Not that Im proud of it, but people in general wont look me in the eye passing by, I notice this because I am always willing to say hello. I wouldn't hurt a fly, for no reason that is....

Catalyst's picture

I'm exactly the same, I'm a real placid guy. "You can't judge a book by its cover".

zeb0312's picture

Yea but I hear your around 280 pounds in my book that's a bad ass bro. :-)

Much respect for you bro.

You know what?.. lifting is everything to me, i do it every single day.. not just my own routines but i am a coach as well and i have a philosophy were i dont ask a person to do as i say but do as i do .. that means i get involved and actually hit the weights to demonstrate form and show levels of intensity that are a requirement if the person really classes their-selves as a Bodybuilder and really wants to transform and climb the ranks.

I am when it comes to nutrition an obsessive.... meaning i will get my daily cals even if it means killing someone if they attempt to steal the time away from me that i had military planned to eat a set planned meal... i am not really a nice guy to be around when i am in the "zone".. which to be honest is most of the time lol.... people say i am too intense, and that is the reason why i only have a tight bunch of "real" friends around me, other fuckers just dont understand and i want those types well away from me because i hate negativity and low self esteem.

When it comes to gear well!.... i am a take it or leave it type of guy, gear has never been my driving force.. i can create great results with or without it, please dont get me wrong.. i have used gear in abundance at certain times, i have done uber self-experimentation... and been more or less forced to use giant stacks and like i have stated on this board already i ran Tren for a year solid to compete against the worlds best. (amongst other things) purely to feed my passion for competition.

To summarise.. what it really is all about for me is that i fell in love with Barbells,Dumbbells and gym atmosphere, and that love affair is so strong it took over my life, no.. i said that wrong!..it actually BECAME my life.... without the battle of training with weights i am an empty shell..... NOTHING and i mean NOTHING gives me the feel good factor that training brings..... gear used correctly is simply the icing on the cake.

What most fuckers forget!!... is that the cake must first be made before we can add the icing!..... Not the other way around which is what i see they are trying to do with massive AAS abuse these days.

Good post bolt......... +3 brother.

bolt781's picture

You walk that intense line...when if waivered, by a distraction to your unbridled focus, that distraction is cast out. Not that it needs to be physically executed by you, your nature classifies it as poison. And as a poison, it is kept well away from your intense line! Discipline is not easy and its not nice!
Awesome read! Valuable tokens scattered throughout what you wrote! Knuckles brother!

zeb0312's picture

Dam all this fancy talk has me scratching my head, break it down for us old country boys bolt.....lol

Na bro i get you its true and this sport to a high level is just that what you say and in my eyes is a very selfish sport on the pro level that it just the way it is and very hard toll on them self and there families if they have one. People just look at the pros in any sport and they say I WANT THAT they have no ideal what it took them to get there and the hurdles and struggles for years and years to step in the spot light just for a brief few moments......................... Great post brother bolt......................

bolt781's picture

You're right brother. I think alot supplement companies deceptive marketing creates alot of frustration. They use a pro as "proof" this supplement will make you look like that. So a person buys it and ofcourse it doesn't give them the dramatic results desired. Then they fall into a mindset of wtf!!? I'm going to take whatever I have to to become a monster. It becomes a blind chase for alot of people. Enter the use of AAS. Skipping the biggest part of the game in my eyes... The lifting.

Wouldn't it be awesome if Foster Farms sponsored a pro! If Alta Dena sponsored a pro! Have the "I want that" crowd take the food path.

I have a bunch more to say but gotta get back to work. New guys and girls...be humble...be one with the weights...enjoy the workout...be in the moment...lift like you're life depended on it...lift because you need it in your life. If you don't love something you will never be %100 connected mind body and soul. Thanks for stopping by brother!

maxmuscle925's picture

I actually think a chicken farm or company or whatever actually sponsors phil heath lol. I believe he has mentioned it in a few of his vids.

zeb0312's picture

Yes he did and maybe still does it's called red bird farms. All the pro's have perks bro what bolt us talking about is the average Joe bodybuilder trying to live and scrap day in and day out to better them selves and other's a really caring about the sport. That would mean more to everyday people than to see pro's buying big houses fast cars and the live style. After they make it big bro it's just a job to most of them and as any sport, but give average Joe the bodybuilder some scratch that would turn peoples heads and it would be appreciated for sure like Phil you say, shit he has owners and sponsers just waiting for him to pick who ever he wants why because good for sales and to me that's wrong but that's the why it works and goes.

Do you think the pro's in any sport really need sponsers, I mean the big time guys who make millions just playing sports????? HELL NO they can afford it but why not pay foward to your team mates other people or who ever. Don't get me wrong a lot of them do and more great things but so many more could and what a difference that would make to the little guys then maybe if little guys makes it big maybe he will pay foward also. It would be a epic life changing event brother. I'm done now sorry for the long story just my thoughts.

I lift because I love it and it keeps me sane (some may argue my sanity). It is part of my daily routine. I do not make time to lift.....its like a second job. Do you make time to go to work?? no because its part of life. That being said, anything worth doing is worth going all in. Im not gonna lift day in and day out to look average. Average sucks. I like being looked at like a freak in my gym. Having people look at you as their "goal" is a great compliment. To have people comment on your hard work is an ego stroke and anyone who says they don't like the attention is a liar. At the end of the day I have a vision in my head of the perfect physique. I wil bust my ass to obtain MY goal and do it for NOBODY else but me. I will lift until I am literally not aable to anymore because its my passion.

bolt781's picture

I get aggressive when I convey my love for lifting. You are exactly right brother! That was a heated overlooked lie pertaining to compliments. Case in point...the member Theo...his words smack you right across the face with "feel good" when he takes the time to compliment. You said it better. In the end do it for nobody else except you and your goal!

maxmuscle925's picture

Compliments are awesome and anyone who says they don't like them is either got some weird social problems or is a liar. With that said those who get into this for the compliments and stay in for the compliments never last. I believe a lot of us went in to look a little better improve some performance gain a little beach muscle or whatever it maybe and got addicted to the high that comes from the pain of deep deep burning muscles, were after you pre exhaust legs with leg extenstions and hamstring curls then go and squat 20 reps, you roll on the ground afterward and do it again. Why? Because we become addicts to achieving. Breaking PRs, measurements, weight gain goals, fat loss goals. Addicted to setting a task and defeating it and I find this has an overflowing affect to the rest of life as well. Everything about it is awesome, it is the greatest journey I have ever taken and what keeps my life on track to be so incredibly purpose driven.

bolt781's picture

I wont focus on how or why you are in the red. I wont deny the sincerity of your post either. +1

maxmuscle925's picture

I think I am just that guy on the board. I came in strong with my own opinions. Didn't really think people were going to take this forum and everything as seriously as they do. So if I misspeak or do one thing -30 karma and a bunch of, well, insulting things. But I am the new kid on the playground so the cool kids are going to follow me and try and show there dominance. Anyways thanks for the +1.

True. I'm not living unless I'm getting some kind of exercise, gear or no gear i have to get my workout on.

Let there be no more talk of this cross fit or your lucrative idea lol. You'll see one wearin it and have to chin check n collect hahaha

bolt781's picture

Amen brother! We all have are reasons...mine coincide alot with yours. The dedication you have is unmistakable! Bumps in the road aren't a hindrance when we learn from them. And I still dont know shit, but I wont make the same mistakes that's for damn sure. I am 100% for championing the actual lifting. Breaking it down and acknowledging every ounce of effort while performing an exercise or lift. For me, that is when I am most in the moment! You've dropped a ton of valuable tokens, on other subjects as well, which have indirectly had a positive effect on my lifting sessions...or maybe I should say asylums haha...knuckles brother!

bolt781's picture

Ofcourse brother. These words aren't stone and I speak from firsthand experience only. This was to engage a different thought process in a person who is on the fence about taking the plunge. To weed out any second guessing and if that arises, to take heed. These types of decisions should be done deliberately with all angles examined. Approached with an unwavering certainty. Knuckles brother!
