Can you progress Natty after a Roids?

ad

I've heard that if you do a cycle (which shuts you down) your natural baseline testosterone never fully

recovers even after proper PCT. Which means you can't reach/maintain your natural max LBM (at original test

level before cycle) naturally in the long term.

Any truth to this, can you still build muscle naturally after pinning?

gatorbits's picture

I just came off my Testosterone cycle three weeks ago
Did a pct
While I believe I was not fully surpressed and certain I wasn't shutdown from the cycle
I didn't expect to gain while in pct
But I kept my diet high calories and got another 3lbs of lean mass while in pct
Feel great
I did 14 weeks Test E with two week prop taper
Pct was
Aromasin 12.5x15days
Clomid. 50x30 days
Tamoxifen 20x45days

I'm still completing pct now

Yes. Assuming you aren't passed your own "genetic limit" for what your body can maintain on your regular testosterone levels, you can continue to progress. My levels were actually higher than they were before I started cycling 3 cycles later, though not by a significant amount.

Anecdotally, I have changed my weight quite a bit over the years. Despite having run a few cycles, when I cut down to 182 lbs for a meet and shoot, I had no problem with putting on quality mass after my PCT for quite awhile. When I was at my heaviest though, even hitting 300g protein a day and 4500 kcals, the only thing I was putting on was a little fat here and there naturally. That changed the minute I hopped back on cycle though.

Yes you can recover. I ran a few cycles in college and stopped completely for a Long period of time. I spent quite a bit of effort doing explosive natty test gaining lifts, and I believe that later my nuts fully recovered and then some. Honestly though it took about 2 years to get back 100% for me.

I did some oral cycles of M1Test, when it was legal, back when I was deployed. After I got out I was dealing with some physiological problems from combat. So I drank and drugged for a few years, until I cleaned my act up. When I was ready to begin the life that I deserved, I started working out again. When I started going to the gym I couldn't lift shit, but from past experience, I knew I had to start somewhere. What amazed me is how fast I regained my muscle mass and strength. I thought all this muscle memory stuff was BS. Sure enough, within a couple months I was almost back to my old self, except for a few lbs in the midsection. I went up about 20lbs a week, in each excersize, until I plateaued to my natural abilities. I remember reading an article that stated, AAS use permanently changes the density of your muscle fibers, and they will want to rebound to that size.

crayon's picture

So after AAS use are your muscles more prone to muscle memory?

ChemDawg's picture

The few articles I read spoke about your muscles getting to a higher potential than they would naturally, and when you are off AAS, your muscles will want to rebound close to that potential. It may take a longer time to gain them back, compaired to being on cycle, but for me it seemed faster than it would take a guy that never used anything,to rebound.

crayon's picture

That sounds great, esspecially those looking to cycle onces or twice and then progress natty, so even off cycle your going to progress due to AAS.

I hope its an accurate theory.

Your body is very resilient when it comes to recovering. Depending on the time/amounts/usage you may need further time to fully recover but you can. A LOT of variables like Roid Noid mentioned come into play. Age! Naturally testosterone levels decline over time anyway in males which is why you see so many infomercials pumping out products to boost T-levels in aging men. So if you're over 25 and use AAS your level wouldn't be at your natural baseline before you started anyway! This is why especially for the younger guys using these compounds it's fundamental to properly follow PCT to minimize suppression and combat issues from the hormonal imbalance caused after synthetic testosterone is no longer introduced to the system. You can build muscle naturally after pinning it's just a slower process...maintaining muscle mass is achieved from diet and a proper resistance training regime. Now I'm not saying you can keep the muscle you've built after you stop AAS because in all truth you will most likely lose muscle since your body's strong protein synthesis/positive nitrogen balance/recovery response from using AAS is no longer at the higher levels it once was. The only reason you were able to build more muscle beyond your natural genetics in the first place is having the higher amount of AAS in your system. But your natural levels after AAS should still be adequate enough to build muscle it's just a slower process like I mentioned. A side note is there are major advancement in natural remedies that boost T-levels naturally but obviously not to the extent AAS can produce but still higher enough to help in maintaining/building muscle for aging males or post AAS users! .

I agree with "age". When I was in college my lifting buddy cycled, ( dbol, test e) he was 23 but wasn't wreck less ( well as wreck less as a 23 year old cycling could be) and used appropriate doses, ai's and good pct. When he finished he kept a good portion of size and strength. Before he juiced he would always have me by 5-20 lbs/rep depending on the lift and about 7 lbs body weight. Prior to his cycles we would progress through out the semesters at the same rate but he would always keep that 5-20lb gab in strength ( we both had about 15-16% bf) and body weight. After his cycle it jumped to 15-60lb/rep, even during his pct and several months after he kept the majority of the gains. We continued to be lifting buddies through our SR. year, and for every lb in strength/ size I gained he gained but at 15-60lb/ a head of me vs the 5- 20lb/rep pre cycle. We were always very close in bf, but after his cycles he was 3-4% lower than me. 23 is a little to young to cycle, but he did it responsibly and be bounced back quick, and I would bet it was his youth that was the culprit of the recovery. I DO NOT condone 23 year olds cycling, but my lifting buddy's youth help his recovery, I'm 25 and planning my 1st cycle.

Good question. I would love to see a answer from one of the pros/vets/experienced users here. I would think yes you can recover, buy after been on the "juice" and gaining massive amounts of muscle u just dont wanna come out of AAS due to the mental issue of thinking that u can only achieve gains while on and u might wont even train/eat properly unless u taking some kind of drug. Steroids r highly addictive my friend, specially after seeing results, thats just my humble opinion...

White Bolt's picture

My genetics are pretty catabolic... Can't imagine ever training without gear expecting gains again.

monsteronjuice's picture

Ever see those skinny male fashion models that look like they are starving
?.....Rumor has it they tried one cycle of test and were never able to regain muscle.

Lol true.

Thats stupid bro.

cj0cj0's picture

i think its more of a head thing. when your on cycle your motivated to grow and work out hard as fuck. but off cycle you lose motivation because you tell yourself you wont grow as fast without juice. thats just my perspective

Of course u cant.

why do you say that?

Lol FAIL huh. Haha

thefusion's picture

Actually the Fail might be withdrawing that remark, the guy who told me this couldn't gain more than a few pounds (not even sure that was even muscle) since he quit. Maybe he just doesn't know how to train natty, Overtraining is a bi*ch

Roid Noid's picture

yes you can, and you can fully recover or not depending upon all kinds of variables

boots2asses12's picture

100% agreed.

thefusion's picture

What kind of variables? HCG? Age? Third Testicle?
