+ 9 How strong are you guys? Just curious
ad
This isn't about who is the strongest mofo on eroids as it is just about me being curious. The last few days I've seen a few members commenting on working out with 120-150 pound dumbells on inclines, which in my opinion is good, especially if you're around 200 pounds or lighter. So my question (1) what is your 1 rep max on bench or squat and or (2) how many times can you rep out 225 pounds on the bench press? Or what were your best lifts in your prime years as alot of guys are older now? This isn't a powerlifting forum but more about bodybuilding so I get that, but again I'm just curious.

Intermediate level. Bench 130kgs , deadlift conventional dead 200kgs and sqaut 180kgs
@stokes500 you guys are twins ...no necks at all lol! Big ole dudes.
This is my buddy that I told you about. Former world record holder..715 raw bench
Haha your friends with scot? @DeeMan let me find out bro. I've got a fridge full of baking soda and Celtic salt because of him
So you a west coast guy too..
Oh actually I was thinking about Todd. But I've watched a lot of scotts powerlifting stuff
@NWApatches what happened? I know he crazy as hell but he means well.
@stokes500
Good looking fella him mate … he’s a big old unit, I watched some of his videos after we had a chat and you brought him up … he’s a power house, be interesting to see what his grocery bill is
Told you that you guys are built exactly alike. He's a little older now in his 50's but he's still strong. Yeah his grocery bill is more like a house note. He floated in bodyweight between 275-310 pounds.
The dude arm wrestles now
In my hey day before I tore my arm my bench was
405 for 6
Deadlift 765x2
Squat I never maxed out I'm not built mechanical for them but I'd do 4 sets of 315x20
These days I only use hammer strength press machines and smith, I only use hack squat machine and I don't deadlift. I do still do heavy bent over rows with 315x8-10
I ate a bowl of nails for breakfast..... Without any milk.
The glue on the 16 penny nails fucked with my teeth
I would wake up every Saturday with my baby boy and we would watch SpongeBob together after I made him breakfast. Ot was our thing. I miss those days
Welcome to the Salty Spitoon…how tough are you?
Lmao I bet no one on here got your reference sandman but I did.
I knew there had to be one. Your awesome.
Toenails or metal nails?
You the toughest mofo I know
Thank you guys. I'm out of likes. This was interesting.
@thahulk2014 where ya at?
Shit. Im here. Haha. Im down 30lbs cutting for vacation, but iI hit a 700 dead the other day for 1 rep. I tend to use more machines these days for legs. My gym only goes to 150lb db but ill smack them for 15 reps on either bench. Havnt maxed bench in a long time. Most I hit was 550 for 1 rep flat bench. I hit 405 for 8 now feeling the muscle. Hope this came out good. I talked to text.
@thahulk2014 Look up at top of page. That's who I was telling you about
There he goes. I woke up the sleeping giant.
Yea I remember you telling me about that 550 bench press. You have strength. Like I told you awhile back I'm still trying for that ole 6, and pretty damn close to it too. Not sure about any comps this year, maybe summer though. Lol the hell with those deads though. I always felt awkward doing them but I'll mess around with them every now and then.
To be fair i was about 300lbs when I had the heavy bench.
You probably looked lean though
Was definitely pushing it. Lol
Yea you have that lean look with the waist too. Well man hopefully we see you around here a little more bro. We'll talk
I took 3 years off due to spinal injuries and when I returned to gym, I had way more time (since wasn't working then) to alter my routines on the fly depending on which racks/stations are being used. Instead of getting irritated like I used to be about it, I took the time to max out on stuff I never see anyone do at all. Weighted dips I'm at 4 pl8 x 2. Barbell shrugs I'm at 6.5 pl8 x 30. Barbell calf raises I always start at 5 pl8 and drop set. Kroc rows are done with landmine attachment with 5.5 pl8.
Other than that, i am pretty embarrassed with bench numbers and I don't traditional squat because of back issues but can behind the back ass to grass hack squat for 3 pl8 x 16.
Thanks man but no need to be embarrassed, you had spine issues! I'm sure we would be affected too. But glad you seem to be recovered or on your way to recovery.
Thanks brother. I'd say biggest tools during my still ongoing recovery is low dose deca for joint pain, 4-6iu of growth daily for nerve pain and the ability to search through all the old posts here to see so many anecdotes with bloods and labs and progress photos offered as proof of hard work and quality gear and . I've seen plenty of posts from you and the other longtime members and there's always a plethora of knowledge being shared. Appreciate it brother
Hey thanks. Hoping for your speedy recovery. Be safe
anvil@DeeMan
bench press 225x23
Can't squat or dead lift due to back issues..
Thanks bro. That's a good number for 225. And yeah I tend to stay away from deadlifts because I'm not comfortable with it. I love squats though.
Been probably 15 years since I ever tried to do any 1 rep max stuff. What it was back then, I have no clue. To old to remember that far back. Heaviest I go now is 60lb DB for about 8 reps and maybe 10 reps at 185 benching on the smith. Squatting, bodyweight is enough for me.
Yea I went from training like Dorian Yates to training like Dexter Jackson in his last 5 years lol
135 lbs flat bench 4 sets of 15 reps anything over 185 lbs and pec retears.
But I look like I bench 4 plates lol
You do look like you can bench 4 plates on the deal
All about the pump deeman
You better believe it
All these heavy weight lifts got me thinking of the old song with mgk & kid rock
BAD MOTHER F*CKERS nice pump songs years back
my max raw lifts with dead was 695, bench 485, squat, I've forgotten.
I'm not that strong anymore and if I could lift that heavy again, I wouldn't.
I'm with iFit on this one, I wish I would have just stopped at 315 on bench with high reps and 405 on on deads, maybe even 315 there too. The injuries catch up
Had no idea you were close to 5. Yea injuries are unfortunately part of the heavy iron game.
I hear this.
I used to squat 650, bench 405 and deadlift about 600 and wish I never did. Going in next month for a 2 level lumbar fusion and 3 level laminectomy.
Squat: 525lbs (238kg) Raw
Bench: 385lbs (175kg)
Deadlift: 600lbs with straps (272kg), 585lbs without straps (265kg)
Came home in the beginning of ‘22. Lifted for a month or so and was able to bench press 305 one time. Got on gear and towards the end of my second cycle in November of ‘22 benched 225x29, 315x10, 405x1 and called that good. Since then, I’ve been working on my technique and mentally connecting with the muscle. The weights I work with have gotten way lighter but I’ve gotten way bigger.
Nice. I bet you came home looking like a Spartan too.
I looked alright, but not as good as I felt I should have, and definitely not as good as I wanted. But now, I’m like yeeeeah, I’m finally getting fair pay for all my hard work
I can digg that. Hard work pays off
