I am type 2 diabetic and i just started insulin and it does not work i am on deca and test
Hello,
I am wondering since I read that using steroids can cause insulin resistance does anyone know about that because my blood sugar is high today I woke it was 200 ......yesterday I started long acting once day insulin 10 units I took it and my blood sugar was 227-350 all day until 1 am was my last check I tested it at least 15 times I was not eating crap food but I did have carbs like rice with my meal...chicken breast vegies ect... I wonder if I should tell the doctor first that its not working and see if she puts me on a different type or more of it .. or should I tell her I am taking test and deca I am taking 400 test 1 ml and 400 deca 1 ml a week ... the insulin type I am taking is a pen its called Basaglar KwickPen
and to be honest I freaked out because it did nothing and took another shot so double the amount I was told to take and I swear it was like I was injecting water .. I even marked the glass because its hard to tell if the plunger is moving and it did move so I did get the insulin
I am also taking 1000 mg of metaformin pills they are no fun I call it metafartin because I am all day long farting .. I am going to quit the metaformin pills they make my stomach sick and mess up my digestion
Any advice would be appreciated
I am 5 feet 10
215 pounds
been bodybuilding since 1980 I am 54 I look like I am in good shape I am strong I do not really want to admit to my doctor I am taking the juice we had a conversation about it she is not approving of it ...

I've been a Type 1 Diabetic for 35 years, on an insulin pump with CGMS for 12yrs now. Been on gear and GH for 10+ years. My Dr is very sympathetic to my lifestlye and monitors me closely. Do not assume everything you read is true. Everyone is different. Everyone says GH and Diabetes is a trainwreck of a combo. That is utterly FALSE. I am living proof it's not. Everyone says long tern Tren use is bad. Not for me at 200mg/week. It really helps insulin sensitivity for me. Without Tren, I average 120 units a day basal & bolus combo on low-moderate carbs (60-100 a day max). On 200mg Tren E a week, that drops to 60 units on average. Stress will play a HUGE role in your bloodsugar fluctuations. It does for every diabetic I know. It's worse that ingesting pure glucose. I don't feel like doing deep into it here, long day, but if anyone would like to talk about it, feel free to FR and message me, or ask away here and I'll respond when I can.
Mate I'm the same as you - I've run a lot of trenbolone over the years, had brilliant results from it and never had any bad side effects from it. If you look through their previous comment history over time you'll find the only people that generally bash it are the ones who use to love running it but now can no longer handle the sides, so out of envy try to put others off it also. Far worse and irresponsible are the ones using compounds designed for people like yourself (a diabetic) when they can easily prove fatal in a matter of minutes for them as their bodies are still able to function normally in regards to glucose/sugar intake.
I am really glad for you that you have your condition locked down. Good stuff.
You remind me of Colette Nelson in a sense. She is extremely clued in, in this regard.
However, you are extremely misinformed if you think you are proof these compounds are good! Tren alone is a trainwreck. CGAF if you think it is ok that you have taken it for years... it does a damage that is very hard to recover from, which accumulates over time. GH is the very same in that way. (dont get me wrong as others often do... I LOVE tren and its positive effects... used it for many years)
One gives you brain damage (again dont get me wrong, event test at supraphysiological levels is proven now to do this, but tren is far worse). The other very likely shortens our lives at the end of our spectrum.
Tren's lipolytic and blood-sugar lowering action is hardly a justification for running it as an adjunct to blood-sugar raising GH. Thats saying it is a good idea to take one poison to counteract another in the short term, despite doubling the long terms bad effects.
Kinda silly?
I very much respect what you say about stress though. Such a huge factor for all of us.
I appreciate your input, but everyone is different, in that what you may experience is totally different than what I would. I run Tren at a low dose, only 200mg a week of Tren E. I don't get the extreme night sweats, insomnia, and other typical negative sides. I promise you, my brain functions at a high level every day with the type of work I do. My point, was to not believe everything you read. I think we all already know this as part of the game we play, as it is, or we wouldn't even be playing it. What I mean by that is.....with all of the bad press gear gets, we didn't let that stop us did we?
To address your point on GH being bloodsugar raising...... when I first started it (no Tren at the time), yes, it was for the first 2 weeks. I had to double basal and bolus rates to maintain normal blood sugar levels. At the end of week 2, the opposite happened. I started getting hypo too frequently. Had to cut basal and bolus rates back down to what it was before I started the GH. No, the GH was not bunk. I'm on US Pharma grade Nutropin by Genentech as prescribed by my Dr. I wasn't taking Tren to counteract the GH insulin sensitivity issue because that disappeared after week 2. I started up low dose Tren much later. The two seem to be synergistic in me.
Edit: I'm NOT condoning use of anything for anyone. Just sharing my experiences over the years.
You're right about stress. I can have a perfect day, diet, bloodsugar, training-wise, get some bad news that upsets me, and boom, my bloodsugar goes from 90 to 400+ within a 30 minute timeframe.
Get your prostate checked.
Pancreas checked.
Thyroid checked.
Liver/ fatty?
Kidneys.
Lipids.
Hormones, pr, prl, estro, dht, dheas.
Etc.
Basically as someone touched on below with the " spill over"
Excess flowing through tissue and blood.
Trigs/ fatty acids in excess.
Receptors occupied and not receiving signals to release.
confusion with recognition of insulin and what to do with it begins then the "spillage " occurs.
Then you get insulin resistance.
Border line diabetic situations.
High blood pressure.
Etc etc.
jayisktry to calm down as stress isnt helping things. Your dr. will adjust the dosage of insulin you take a day to get your blood sugar under control.
Learn what you need to eat and which foods effect your blood sugar. Obv. exercise and stay hydrated.
".I am being very careful I just ran the dog and had a orange in each hand in case it dropped to low .. it got down to 127 after my run then had the oranges it went to 157 fast."
Why would you take in sugar if you got a reading of 127? You will def. feel it if you go hypo..,so please stop stressing out.
hypo is 70 or below. Also you are taking a long acting insulin. fast acting insulin is the one that can put you into hypo quick.
40 iu's is not very high so dont worry about that.
in the future you may be able to lower your dose.
you are not insulin resistant if you got your sugar down to 127 after upping the dosage.
Just work with your dr and continue to get your A1C blood work.
Yes I feel kinda silly for stressing out I would only take sugar in if I got near 80 but I was starving and I did have the oranges they are the little mandarins not a full size oranges I get so hungry now yesterday at the grocery store I broke into the beef jerky while in line I could not handle the hunger pains the girl at the register made fun of me .... Tomorrow I go for blood work and as soon as they come in I can take a picture and try to figure out how to upload them I was able to figure out to load a personal pic today ..On a funny note my doctor told me to chill out her exact words plus she said someone that's big of a worry wart like me should stay off google.... In my defense my girlfriends dad is type 1 and he told me about passing out and he has had to go to the emergency room before because of it.. so he worked me all up.. he is fat as hell and he had me thinking I would end up that way so I was stressing.. Do you know what it feels like when it hits ?
jayiskyour girls dad being a type 1 is prob. on fast acting insulin. Which you have to make sure you eat within a certain time frame.
google is fine if you use it to research how to manage diabetes and positive stuff like that. dont go on there looking for horror stories.
"Do you know what it feels like when it hits ?" YES! and it can be scary. it starts with your hands shaking, sweating , you will start to get confused and it will get worse from there.
But as soon as you feel it coming on check your sugar and if it is too low get sugar in you. You should feel it coming on and have enough time to handle it. Dont ignore it and wait.
they sell glucose tabs that you can keep with you.
i have actually gone hypo while i was asleep and it woke me up. So your body will tell you.
So be prepared but dont overreact and constantly thing about it.
morning fasting sugar is 80 and after a meal should be around 120 for someone that is not diabetic.
But the A1C blood test is important cause it covers your last 3 months of sugar levels.
if you ever go as high as 500 i would go to the ER.
I wish my morning was 80 its always over 225 and after any meal that has carbs its 350 As for my girlfriends dad he is bad he eats so much crap and then takes the insulin I eat pretty good rarely having allot of carbs.. funny thing I never liked junk food but now that I cant have it I think about wanting it.. thanks for taking the time to give me such good info before getting on AAS I would wake up early tto go to the bathroom take my metaformin go back to sleep and I would wake at 120-130 but after getting back on AAS at least 100 points higher no change in diet ..I am pretty prepared for my girlfriend she is disabled in a wheelchair and I keep supplies for her needs in all my cars in a bag so we never have to bring her supplies I will make sure to get glucose tabs and put test strips and meter ect in her bag for me...
metformin stopped working because the steroids you take are increasing glucose metabolism.
Man, the amount of amputees out there who would love to be in your shoes and able to fkn switch off drugs and get a handle on their shit is unreal.
You need to get HbA1c test asap if not already???
Do you have HbA1c result?
RustyhookerIf he has increased glucose metabolism, wouldn't his glucose numbers be low?
Only if the insulin part of the process is working or overworking, which is the closer to the end stage of metabolism. Insulin being a control of the metabolism.
Think of it like a diesel engine governor failing and a runaway happening - engine revs too high and no shortage of fuel
MY H1C was really good before the juice under 7 but after it kicked in about 2 weeks in my sugar went nuts ..I just got back from running with my dog I am going to check it in a bit.. I was doing really good with diet so I was stressed when the AAS made it so high .. I went on a Hawaii cruise and did not eat right and saw 400 plus and once back home I was 200-300 My doctor ordered a bunch of blood work I am going I tomorrow to do it... thank you for the response...
you using GH??
Nope never used GH I just uploaded a picture of me from a roid source cycle at 52 I wish I could upload pictures of the medicines I am on as I found it rude being told by people that they thought I was stupid enough to use insulin without a doctor... I was stressing waiting all weekend to see my doctor about insulin I really was worried and she told me to chill out its ok and I felt silly.. I honestly was scared of insulin from all I know about it and was hoping others had it happen from the juice ... the stuff I am using now is from mexico and really strong I can tell when its strong since I first used AAS in the late 80's
asked as its only thing i have seen cause such a surge on cycle
if the meds get your levels right, great
but you gotta take it seriously
Dr. attitude not great tbh
Dacky is right below man
best wishes, share the upcoming results
hope goes well for you
Hmm. Where do I start jeez! Right I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt that you have actually got a Dr prescription for this long acting slin. You’ve made just enough sense with some of what you’ve said to sway me for now - that said I remain skeptical. Anyway.....
Ok first things first. Tomorrow you call your doctor and make an appointment and you go and tell her your complete history of Bodybuilding, PED use, diet (types of carbs you eat and how much etc) and ask for a referral to a diabetologist or at very least an endocrinologist. Your issue and BG levels are frankly far beyond a PCP’s expertise and through in long term PED use and well you need specialist consultant help!
Secondly I hope you do no the dangers of insulin use. I also assume you know how this stuff works right? Given your BG levels and on the assumption your GP prescribed 10iu as a starting dose I see no reason for you to conclude it did not work. It wouldn’t and there is a reason for that which I can’t/won’t go into here. Again you need to be talking to your GP and then a specialist for your answers.
Thirdly and in this case given just how serious and seemingly advanced your condition is the risk (insurance assuming your in the US) is far outweighed by the benefit (that being not dying from your kidneys shutting down from ketoacidosis).
So yes please brother stop fucking around on forums asking for advice on insulin use and dosing for what can only be a medical emergency at the levels we are talking about.
And on that note I’d be getting to my local pharmacy and buying some keto sticks and testing my urine immediately and if showing the presence of ketones I would be getting myself to the ER right away.
hear hear. well said.
Yes AAS can cause insulin resistance and have effects on glucose. This is a complex subject because, among other things, the way they act is different depending on the properties of the steroid.
"I wonder if I should tell the doctor"
This is not a question you need to ask yourself, your illness is serious and you should be closely followed by a doctor. There are other reasons than insulin resistance for which insulin can sometimes not work properly, ask your doctor he/she knows better.
Thanks for the response at least you did not say you thought I got it without a doctor prescription... I really don't want to tell the doctor however I am going to tell her... there is a difference between not wanting to and having to ... and I am aware of that... I check my sugar constantly over this past year since it started . I mainly wanted to see if anyone else had this happen and find out what they did because waiting for Monday to find out is driving me nuts and I hope I do not have to quit AAS because I feel old and tired without it .. I am being careful eating salads with chicken breast and for other meals meat and veggies I do have a banana and a few oranges a day but that's it .. as little carbs as possible and boy am I starving all the time its hard to go to sleep being this hungry...
First please, note what Dacky said below about keto sticks. It is really important, if you had high blood sugar, there are consequences ! I don't know what to think, you said you just started insulin, but the questions you ask it is like you are not followed by a doctor and you should. You must understand, there's something not working in your body and the doctor will try with you to stabilize the things so they are as close as possible to normal. AAS is something most doctors don't know about, or if they know, the dosage, duration are not the same, so they know little about the consequences. Their medicine is not a science to improve the performance, it is a science to cure the people when they are sick. So for them it's like trying to solve an equation where you don't know about some factors, impossible. So I am sorry for you, but you will have to leave the AAS, enought time, until you are stabilized.
My doctor knows about AAS and that's why she made me go from 10 iu to 40 she did not tell me to stop she did say that when I do let her know so we can adjust she said the 10 iu was just a started and it is baby steps is why she started so low
... I am shocked I thought she was going to give me a hard time...and she is adding a new pill I have not gone to cvs to get as I just got home its noon here so I figure I will get the new pill and know what it is called later today ..
Well, that sounds like good news, I'm glad it's going well for you, that you could talk to your doctor about it. I think we were several here to be quite worried.
I’m interested if you read what I said above? Did you get those keto sticks?
Yes I did read it my doctor called me told me to chill out she raised my insulin to 40 iu a day plus a pill that I have yet to pick up...I am going for blood work later today ...she told me some people take 80 iu a day of this kind...
I’m glad your “doctor” is soooo chill! Good luck you you and her!

Long-term complications
Keeping tight control of your blood sugar can help prevent many diabetes-related complications. Long-term complications of untreated hyperglycemia can include:
Cardiovascular disease
Nerve damage (neuropathy)
Kidney damage (diabetic nephropathy) or kidney failure
Damage to the blood vessels of the retina (diabetic retinopathy), potentially leading to blindness
Clouding of the normally clear lens of your eye (cataract)
Feet problems caused by damaged nerves or poor blood flow that can lead to serious skin infections, ulcerations, and in some severe cases, amputation
Bone and joint problems
Teeth and gum infections
Emergency complications
If blood sugar rises high enough or for a prolonged period of time, it can lead to two serious conditions.
Diabetic ketoacidosis. Diabetic ketoacidosis develops when you don't have enough insulin in your body. When this happens, sugar (glucose) can't enter your cells for energy. Your blood sugar level rises, and your body begins to break down fat for energy.
This process produces toxic acids known as ketones. Excess ketones accumulate in the blood and eventually "spill over" into the urine. Left untreated, diabetic ketoacidosis can lead to a diabetic coma and be life-threatening.
Hyperglycemic hyperosmolar state. This condition occurs when people produce insulin, but it doesn't work properly. Blood glucose levels may become very high — greater than 600 mg/dL (33 mmol/L). Because insulin is present but not working properly, the body can't use either glucose or fat for energy.
Glucose is then spilled into the urine, causing increased urination. Left untreated, diabetic hyperglycemic hyperosmolar state can lead to life-threatening dehydration and coma. Prompt medical care is essential.
Thank you for all this good info I was not comfortable with insulin be prescribed and waiting all weekend was a nightmare ... I did not want to have to tell her because I did not want to be lectured but she was cool your knowledge is very impressive and I really appreciate you taking the time.. but like I said I was just wanting to know if anyone else had this happen....
bro you need to talk to a doctor immediately , insulin is absolutely not a joke at all , it will kill you. Dude insulin has its place in bodybuilding yes, but this is not the place to ask
bro that is dangerous, you need to just stop with the gear until you get this figured out.
Thanks for the response I am not worried the insulin type I have is going to make it go too low at all... this type barely hits at 4 hours and takes 24 hours its very slow release type I asked my doctor about that and she said with this type I wont have to stress about going to low she said watch it to see how you react and I would have plenty of time to correct it if it went low with a banana or some orange juice... I just got home from a movie with my girlfriend my sugar was 278 and all I had was a water at the movies... come Monday I will be talking with my doctor and know more .... I really posted this wondering if anyone else had this kind of problem.. And after the responses I have decided to tell my doctor about the test/deca so she can make a plan based on that
RustyhookerType 2 is insulin resistant.... you really need dr input.
Metformin helps your body not be resistant. And the dr gave you insulin as well?
Type 1 needs insulin since body doesnt produce it.
Either route, this can kill you
Metafartin gives me digestion problems I have been on it for a year BUT IT STOPPED WORKING ONCE I GOT BACK ON THE JUICE... I just figure I am insulin resistant due to what I read about steroids online I am not looking for advice I am just wondering if anyone else had this problem yes the dr gave it to me ..... like I said I read that testosterone can cause insulin resistance I will know after I see the doctor ... I am taking 2000 mg of metaFARTIN.... IT MAKES ME FART ALL DAY AND NIGHT !!
Did you just start the treatment? I ask because my wife also just recently started treatment. They started her on a low dose to see what it would do. Every three days she was instructed to increase a few units like 5 more a day. When she settled out at 100 and stayed that way for 3 days then the dose was determined good.
Like others said already, this is a dangerous tooic and should be consulted with your physician
Edit she settled out at 100 i mean her sugar level not the dose
I just started 10 units of the 24 hour long type of basaglar my doctor said in one month we will see how its going but I can say that my sugar is no different than when I was taking 2 times a day metaformin 1000 each time .. the type I got is in a pen and I marked the glass to be sure the plunger was moving and putting the insulin in and it did .. but 200 is the lowest I get I am testing constantly I cant wait until Monday when i can talk with her..and I am still taking the metaformin...
I am a type one diabetic and I take 10iu of a different type long acting insulin than you before bed and for insurance reasons I had to take basaglar for a while. When taking basaglar my numbers went very high right away. I found that I qualified to get my original long acting insulin for free and when switching back my numbers went back into the normal range. I’m not saying that’s the issue but maybe you can speak to your doctor about it. I know basaglar is supposed to be a cheaper alternative to the one I currently take but for me personally it made my numbers worse. Have you seen a dietician and taken the classes offered to you for being a type 2? I have seen a dietitian and it’s a tremendous amount of help they offer. Again I’m not saying what your particular issue is as to why your numbers are elevated. I’m just relating my own personal experience. I hope it helps some.
I’d second Mack.
It sounds to me like your doctor did not approve insulin use so you went ahead and bought it on the black market. And may have received a fake. Insulin is not something to fuck with bro, if you need it medically make an appointment and ONLY get it from your doctor or pharmacy. No place else.
Those blood sugars are out of control man if your doctor seems to think that is normal and doesn’t need treatment I’d ask for a new doc.
If I was running blood sugar that high I would personally switch to a ketogenic diet for the short term until my doctor was able to sort it out. At least if that did nothing to help it would be a good data point for the doctor to use to pinpoint the problem.
Good luck.
I think it is rude for you to say that MY DOCTOR DID NOT PERSCRIBE IT .. I wish I could post pictures to prove it... I wont that you for the response because YOU ARE RUDE ... I AM 54 NOT A KID
Not a problem bro no need to prove anything here. Just the way the post was worded did not make it sound like you’d been going in for high blood sugars, doc had prescribed insulin, monitored as sugar fell to certain level and now that you started blasting AAS sugars are rising again.
The relationship between AAS and blood sugars is way above my head, I’d say talk to your doc and probably stop the AAS for now. Those are very high sugar numbers. Guys here just want to see you safe brother and too many guys come on here pulling some stupid self medicating shit. You sound like the exception.
I write at 3rd grade level I am not good at writing my thoughts I was very scared I used 50 test strips between Friday and Monday ... I REALLY DID NOT WANT TO DO INSULIN as I feel like a failure ... I have always been healthy no one in my family ever had a sugar problem.. I guess I am a worry wart ... I have used AAS off and on since late 80's .. I talked with my doc today at 9 am they rushed me right in at 11 am and she said the 10 iu was just a test and based on what happened she jumped to 40 iu...I am being very careful I just ran the dog and had a orange in each hand in case it dropped to low .. it got down to 127 after my run then had the oranges it went to 157 fast... so I am probably being over careful but that's who I am I prepare for everything ... you should see how much food I have stored just in case of say a hurricane and store closures... you might say over cautious my freezer has enough meat to feed an army..i just posted a picture of me after a roid source cycle... and I do appreciate all the responses my mind was going crazy that's why I wanted to see if someone else dealt with this and what happened ...
The doctor did prescribe it is there a way I could attach the box showing I got it from the pharmacy ...if so I will be happy to do so... I will be honest going no carbs is so hard but I agree I should work on my diet.. for 6 months the metaformin was working my a1c was under 7 but then I started back on test and deca and its wacked I had a banana one hour ago my blood sugar was 269 right before this response I know its from the test/deca and I do not want have to quit taking it .... I sent my doctor a message I am sure she will fit me in ... and if you want to see my prescription I am happy to show it... I believe I am having insulin resistance you would not believe where I found the test and deca its brovel from mexico and its strong compared to stuff I got off eroids. I got a 50 ml bottle of test 400 and a 50 ml bottle of deca 200
Ask your doctor. Noone here is going to recommend anything. Insulin can kill you if not used properly.
Not sure why you haven't asked him or her.
OK I just was trying to not have to talk with her about it because she is so against it ... I was just wondering if someone else had insulin not work at all due to taking test to see what happened to them ..
thanks for the response
Do some research on insulin and anabolic steroids. You may be surprised what you read and then you will see why your doc would not be happy.
I have read allot online and I sent my doctor all the times I took my blood sugar and what reading I got. I have to wait until Monday so that's why I wanted to see if others had had this I have to wait 2 days and my doctor will probably call me monday and I will go right in she is good... I just hate waiting I wonder if I had this happen and did not know it because I never checked my sugar all the years I have taken the juice..I do not feel good unless I am taking at least 250 mg of test I feel tired and old I guess all my years doing it have killed my own testosterone .. But now after talking with you I am going to be honest with my doctor I guess there is no way out of it .. thanks for the responses I do appreciate them ...
