+ 8 MAGNESIUM AND LOWERING SHBG AFFINITY

ad

Here are some links to studies showing how crucially important Magnesium is to free test levels as well as iGF 1. Magnesium is also vital to many other functions as a quick search will reveal to those who are inclined to thirst for useful knowledge.

I'm mainly bringing this up because most people are woefully deficient in Magnesium. I personally take 650mg of Magnesium Citrate ED. Avoid the Oxide form. I feel that if you try supplementing with Magnesium you will improve your overall health as well as your muscles and strength and make better gains from your cycles and training.

now that IS interesting

good post i regularly soak in epsom salts as opposed to using tabs though

kodiakGRRL's picture

lol yes and the absorption rate is better and easier on the system ... and I like bubbles hahah not to mention it helps with walking after training ;-)

Shhhhhhh..... I like the scented too & lots of candles:-)

I wrote a post a long time ago about it but I think it was before i was a source so it's listed under anonymous...

I’ll do a search & see if I can find it

awesome ;-) with all the system issues i hope it wasn't deleted

Awesome post bro I'll have to put it in my favs

2nd study is interesting as it says zinc acts on test independently of shbg.

giardap's picture

Thanks for the quote man
Ok so i read the study you quoted from. The interesting bit is actually just before the excerpt you listed. It discusses how/where zinc and other metals bind to shbg. The study seems to hypthesise zinc " might " reduce the binding affinity test has with shbg but references in vitro research rather than in vivo.
What it does not say, however, is that zinc lowers shbg.

giardap's picture

Yeah its very interesting

Manshit's picture

That's what I gathered as well that the study was in vitro, however ZMA has been pushed by the supplement industry for years as a way to raise free test.Maybe the pathway is by decreasing the affinity to shbg.Interesting for sure.Magnesium has benefit even if it doesn't lower shbg.

giardap's picture

yeah i am presuming that the take up of mag on binding aites will somehow slow shbg down

I played with zma on and off for fe see years and never noticed a difference. A test with bloods qould be a great way to get a figure on howuch of a bump can be achieved

You literally have the best name I think I told you this before. You Should put your avatar a piece of shit with like beers in it or any avatar at all

Manshit's picture

I'm working on an avatar that would be fitting. When I picked the name I was thinking that this iron game is man shit,I since have found that many women take the game very serious as well and some in here are very impressive. So I guess it's man and woman shit but the name is mine!

Good post brother. Magnesium is extremely important and anabolics and ancillaries deplete that mineral already. I know for a fact tren disrupts the mineral balance in the body if taken for long periods. Tren cramps can be easily fixed with it and magnesium is more of a long term solution to severe cramps even moreso than taurine, potassium, calcium. It actually regulates the balance of potassium and sodium in the cell membrane. I highly recommend magnesium when on cycle and I must say brother thank you for posting about magnesium because it is a very underated especially in the world of aas.

giardap's picture

How does it affect shbg? Sorry cannot read studies just at the moment...

@ClassyChassis

Sir, thank you for the post, very informative.

So I've been taking the oxide form, 800 mgs a day split morning and night. You mentioned poor absorption, is it bad enough that I should switch? Or is the dose high enough to make up for that.

Manshit's picture

You're good to a point. You shouldn't be deficient.I personally would look for a product that has a mixture of magnesiums. Each type offers a different benefit.

Droid2017's picture

How about ZMA? I read that the form of magnesium in ZMA is a chelate known as monomethionine/aspartate, which helps to minimize interference in the absorption. What do you think?

vhman's picture

It keeps the pipes "moving" as well.

How much do you take daily?

I started reading the 1st study but I just got out of work and my brain function is slipping. Cant handle serious thinking just yet. Im definitely going to but I wanted to ask have you personally felt any sort of change from supplementing with this? And what is the reason to avoid the oxide form? Thanks for sharing!

Great info here as well as the post bro. +2 for both

Manshit's picture

The oxide form is not absorbed as well.I use a blend but not as high a dose of citrate because it will have you running to the bathroom.I think the one I use is called tri mag.Magnesium is a wonder supplement though.Benefits from lower blood pressure,to helping with nerve pain and arthritis as well as keeping you pipes moving.
Note: it can also help with the sides associated with tren.
