steroids and the family perception

ad

Something happened this morning that blew my mind. Some of u have heard about my past and it's been checkered at times. Well I have started to help my nephew that's in high school in the gym. I'm getting him stronger and our goal is to get him ready for wrestling this year. I've changed he's diet and workout routine and he's actual getting stronger. So today my father came to me and well we have had a rough relationship since I was a kid and he confronted me about my nephew. Saying u better not get him on steriods.i was blown away that he would confront me on getting my young nephew on steriods Smh. Hmmm the reason he's getting stronger couldn't be that he's working out right with a proper diet no no it's me pumping him full of steriods. Today I feel low as my family must think I'm a scumbag to even think this. My intention was good and my nephew been trying so hard to keep up with me of course he's goin to get stronger isn't that the whole point but anyways should I stop helping him or say Fuck it and continue to work with him. My nephew is loving it and goes to the gym now every time with me and does everything I ask him to with no questions. I even put him on my membership so it was free for him. I've been taking him shopping so he buys the right food and even laying out a diet plan for him. I would never think of hurting him and he wants my help but I feel if I continue and he gets results which he wasn't before they will blame me and act like I'm a drug dealer. It's a sad day for me as without family I have nothing and I hardly have any family now

Just felt like I should drop a comment here, I know we've had a difference of opinion on things but that's life. Don't stop what your doing as others has said fuck that. Your nephew will thank you the rest of his life. My father and I have had a strained relationship for many years when I started heavy into drugs st age 13 and then I went into the military and came back a different person and struggled with substance abuse hardcore. We don't tell each other we love each other its just kinda understood I guess. Maybe a occasional hug or handshake. It was family that helped me. My dad never cared about working out or doing outdoor things. He enjoyed breeding reptiles etc which j helped with until I started using drugs and things just went sharply downhill from there. I stopped going places with him so I could use and not have to hide. When I was your nephews age I had someone at the gym take me under there wing per say. He changed his schedule to meet me there after school and we had a time on weekends to work out and I'd ride my bike to the gym. So anyone setting a young man up with the proper foundation is due respect IMO whether he is family or not. When he gets older if he wants to take gear that's a road to cross then. And hopefully he will be comfortable enough to talk to you about it. At least you can guide him when he's old enough to properly cycle and get him safe clean gear and supplies and pi ning techniques. The guy at the gym who started me on gear. Didn't tell me anything about pct or estrogen control or even show me how to pin. Just gave me the gear and needles and told me to inject it in my ass. I looked up the proper area. But still remember sitting g there with the syringe for like a hour like wtf. I dealt with a lot of shit from my parents went
They found out I was on gear for long term. I wasn't under there roof I've been on my own for a very long time now. But more heard shit from my mom I guess my dad knew he could stop me. Just kept hearing your face is swelling why is your face swollen etc. Youve been out of school over 10 years why is your face constantly broken out etc. And constantly was hearing you better stop that steroid shit your gonna go to prison getting that shit the way you do.. So in all honesty I could see my mom saying the same thing to me about my family if I started training one of my younger cousins you better not give them any steroids etc. But keep on keeping on I know family can hurt your feelings more than anyone else. But your a great roll model to that young man. And that's something hr will never forget and you never know when you get old he might help take care of you one day. And who knows maybe this wrestling thing could lead to a college scholarship. Most people in high school sports don't have to drive to eat right they just cram cheeseburgers down their throats and hit the weights and most don't even have proper form just try to lift to heavy. If you really are in roll tide territory I'm your westward neighbor

Like everyone else has said, keep doing what you're doing. It's clear to you now that you aren't gonna change anyone's perception save for one person, and that's your nephew. Many people willingly prefer to live in blind ignorance simply because they can't be bothered to change or even evaluate their personal beliefs. That's shitty on their part but you can't walk into a church full of baptists and convert them to Catholics, just ain't gonna happen. So many people sweep their guilt and insecurities under the rug of self assuredness so they never have to experience that uncomfortable feeling of not being right all the time. Close minded people never grow and their constricted world view is suffocating themselves and those around them. Your nephew will hopefully learn a valuable lesson, as bittersweet as it may be... And that lesson is that lots of people are insufferable intolerant pricks--even family. He'll learn early on that anyone who tries to achieve something great will inevitably be taunted by naysayers and weak minded people who lack the fortitude to ever be great or achieve anything worthy of the admiration of others. That's alright though. Better he learn it now and pour all that bullshit into a foundation of determination that allows him to stand a head above the average Joe and realize what the view is like when it's not being cluttered by negativity.

His mom came over and said what are u doin to my kid he's been so sore all week he can't do anything lol. My job done :). He couldn't go to the gym today after legs that hard he couldnt even cardio. He couldn't walk

What ur doing for ur nephew will be cherished forever.by him and u...keep up the awesome work...let peoples negativity roll off you like WATER OFF A DUCK'S BACK!!

You can't chosoe your family, that's a fact. You can however choose to not interact with them. My father has never shown me, any of my siblings or my mother love. its sad, but nobody really mentions him now.

Bro I can tell you one thing. You know you're doing the right thing, and the kid knows. That's all that matters. There are some people in this world that are unfortunately like that, they manage to consistently find fault in everything. All you can do is live your life to the best of your ability.

Best of luck, JAG

RT let me say this from the bottom of my heart from experience. Fuck em. There will be no Pat on the back for doing the right thing. I've had a checkered past and have spent the last 20 years trying to straighten it out and the same people look at me the same way they did 20 years ago when I actually deserved the look. Continue on and let them think whatever they want to think. Just make sure that their negativity does not rub off on your nephew

rolltide3's picture

All u can do is make sure u treat your family and kids better than that bro. I will never do my son like was done to me. Even if he messes up I'll b standing there holding my hand out to help. Fuck that fbox your 100 percent right

fusebox's picture

Sucks that your dad is an ass. That's too bad. Mine was too but when my kids were born he came around. But that made it even harder when he passed. I had 15 bad years and 10 good with him. And the 10 good were well worth the wait. Hopefully he'll come around if you'll allow him too.

Edit. He was my step dad and he adopted me when he married my mom if anyone wants to question the years

rolltide3's picture

Lol it won't happen. He's had three heart attacks and I've sit by his bed each time and not one time did he ever try and make piece. Told my mom that I wanted to say I loved him recently to try bc my wife pushes me to try and my mom said no never say that to him he will explode. Just not our pathes in life. Me and my brother are both like that never hug or show any emotions towards are family or each other and we don't talk about are childhood at family functions bc my mom cries every time bc of the guilt she feels. That tears me up bc my mom is an angel from God if she don't make heaven no one will. Without her I'd be dead or in prison no joke her words not mine and I agree

rolltide3's picture

Just want to say thank u to everyone that's commented. I was low this morning and well everyone helped me raise my spirits. This is what makes eriods great thank u everyone and this site is better than therapy lol Smile

rolltide3's picture

Ya your right. Me and my father have had a very checkered past to say the least. All I ever wanted was his approval and for him to tell me one time in my life that he's proud of me. It will never happen. He always hated me but it will never happen so I will keep my head up and turn my nephew Into a lean mean machine

Jonesthegi's picture

I too have a not so perfect past. There was a time that my family would assume and even accuse the very worst at the mention of my name. This would kill me because when it came to family, I always had good intentions.
You can't stop training him! The only way to break their perspective is to prove them wrong. Train him up and send him out to kick some ass! I would hope that they will see what you've done in the end.

rolltide3's picture

Well even if my dad did see the improvement in my nephew.he would never admit it lol.

Who cares about what your family thinks! Keep working with him buddy... If they think something go get his blood work checked and throw it in there face!

I would hope it wouldn't have to come to that. I'm doin the right thing I won't let no one discourage me

Just because you're doing the right thing, doesn't mean that folks won't bash you for it. Many people are idiots, jealous, bags of shit. Many times these people are family. All you can do is ignore them and not let them effect the good things you're doing. These are the people who want to see you an others fail. Don't let that happen. You just have to work on not letting it bother or effect you. It's not easy when it's family, but it has to be done. I've had to cut family members out of my life because of things like this. It wasn't healthy for me, so they're gone. Is it sad, a little, but I'm much happier and so will you be.

rolltide3's picture

Vhman always wise word brother and it seems like we have a lot of the same life experiences. Sucks sometime u have to cut people out of your life bc of jealously. Life to short for such feeling towards others

If you quit working with him now what are you teaching him? what are you teaching him about personal integrity, honor, the will to persevere... what is your "family" telling you about how they percieve you. the best thing about being a "grown up" is that you can pick and choose your family.

rolltide3's picture

Your spot on as always. I just didn't want to create any bad blood in my family. Thanks for the insght

kodiakGRRL's picture

roll sometimes it is what it is .. it is only bad blood if they chose to make it so ....

Keep training him. You've already opened his eyes to the right way to go about it. Good job bro

rolltide3's picture

It's just frustrating. My dad said to me he wants my nephew to earn it and everything he gets he will earn.Just a jab at me because I have used steroids before so I'm a cheat and all my gains over all these years is bc of steroids. Never mind the years of dedication. Just frustrating bro

Definitely have a lot in common. Here's a story about his kindness. I moved out at 17 bc of him and well on my birthday I turned 19 I was at home sleeping. I live in a small community so the cops show up at my house and wake me up at 430 in the morning. They tell me someone tried to steal a motorcycle outside of town and they came to my house bc my kitchen light was on lol. So I get up from a dead sleep on my birthday to them questioning me about a motorcycle. Well the reason they wanted me was bc my cousin was in and out of prison and robbed a bunch of people. So there sitting there questioning me inside my house. One of the cops was a family friend and he asked if I wanted to call my parents and tell them they was taking me in. So i pick up the phone and dad answers the phone i tell him dad cops are here I don't know what's goin but they taking me in about a motorcycle getting stolen an hour ago. He hangs the phone up on me and I'm sitting there saying dad when my mom grabs the phone and she says we will come get u. Dad grabs the phone and I hear him cussing saying u pick up that fucking loser we are getting divorced. Well I just hang up the phone at this point and in the next five mins. The cops get a call about the motorcycle and just leave my house. Well they found who stole it had NOTHING TO DO WITH ME or my cousin but on my birthday my own dad wouldn't even come get me if I had to go thru the police station Smh. At this time I have never even been arrested once in my life. Best birthday of my life lol. Sorry for your situation brother sounds like we have a lot in common sent u an fr

I get you bro. My parents were the same way, sister got boob job, then they finally realized you do what you gotta do. Just keep your head up and keep training hard.

My mom same way they are oblivious to everything in her eyes heroine is the same as weed. She calls it all pot and she will say something like he's hooked on weed when the person is hooked on crack. It just upsets me I text my brother this morning he's at work and he said no worries so that makes me feel better. I want nothing but success for my nephew. He wants help. Our society and steroids is such a joke.
