Thread: Cardio on a stomach is bad for you??!!
I was reading the article here:http://www.muscleandstrength.com/expert-guides/fat-loss
and came across this paragraph that claims that cardio on empty stomach is bad for you!!! this goes against everything I have heard from any vet or my own experience training and working out since age of 8!!!!
Here is the part I like to quote for you!!
Fasted Cardio
Over the years fasted cardio has become an incredibly popular method used to shed fat. Fasted cardio means waking up in the morning and performing cardio on an empty stomach before breakfast. The reason this has become a popular fat loss method is because fasted cardio increases the percentage of calories derived from fat during cardio while minimizing the amount of glycogen used for energy. As discussed earlier, it doesn’t matter if energy comes from carbs or from fat the fat loss will be the same no matter the substrate.
Not only is fasted cardio not beneficial but it is actually detrimental to results. Fasted cardio may result in higher fat utilization but it also results in higher amino acid utilization which means more muscle tissue breakdown. As if that wasn’t enough, research has also proven that fasted cardio leads to far less total calories being expended per session. This means that there is simply less fat loss from fasted cardio when compared to cardio performed in a fed state. So make sure you get some food in your system before you head out to perform your cardio.
this isnt rocket science guys
Its about substrate utilisation
Cardio on empty stomache : equals faster time to access stored fat
Cardio on filled stomach : equals clearing glucose in blood and then accessing stored fats
The point here is that its not what you do or dont do during cardio - its what you put in your body and do during the 24 hour period
dont overcomplicate something thats basic......
Everyone is always trying to be cutting edge, looking for facts on the internet in regards to training, diet steroids is like looking for gold in a shitter ....there is aways an article contradicting some method....Look simple fact Cardio on an empty stomach works, many bodybuilders have used it for years...The internet is just one giant pot of information contradiction.....
If I do cardio on an empty stomach I still drink BCAA's during the session. This should help alleviate any concerns of muscle tissue breakdown during the session. Honestly though, I really can't say that I have noticed a difference in fasted vs unfasted. Fitting it in whenever you can is the most important point.
This, only reason to buy BCAA's imo..
I have done my cardio both ways.fasted in the am has always given me the best results...
X2 when you fast, your glycogen levels are at their lowest. This is prime time to burn energy in the form of fat. Adding carbs is a much quicker energy source for your body to burn through before lipids, which is a slower conversion. This is why fasted is much more effective for fat loss.
I agree, on top of that the empty stomach which I guess means the rest of the organs are kind of empty helps with the run, at least in my case I should add.
