Pre contest cycle for mens physique category
ad
I am looking to enter my first contest in the mens physique category and not sure exactly what to cycle. The first one i tried to do I was doing 100mg of test prop EOD, tren A 75mg EOD winny 50mg ED and nolvadex 50mg ED. This time I wanted to do the same thing except add masteron and anastrozole. My buddy did test prop and tren for his first competition and they said he was too dry/lean. Any recommendations on something good? I am 510 227 looking to compete at 205-210lbs. I have done mulitple cycles.

You sounds pretty heavy. You may want to consider using very little and mostly focusing on diet so you an actually lose the weight. 210 at 5'10" in contest condition is too big for physique.
diet is my main focus, but I had a friend compete in a big market where I live where there was over 100 competitors and he said most guys were over 200, still have 5 mos and already down to 217, so ill probably be around 200
I see the conversation down below and my view would be not to use any orals unless i saw you with my own eyes....... you could be a heavy water holder like some of my clients or the total opposite because everyone is different........ anadrol is best used when carb loading to shuttle water intra-muscular to make you look full..... get this wrong and you can and will end up looking as flat as a pancake or too full and look smooth as a babies bum.
I am in prep mode now and a lot bigger than i was last year ... started at 264 and aiming for 240 ripped!!.. that will have me 15lbs heavier stage weight, but through doing this from a heavier start point i will have to fine tune all my compounds and carb deplete/loading phases to a point that will be totally unrecognisable from last years prep, if i keep it the same i would seriously fuck up!
Everything must evolve, we cannot ever use the same protocols, diets, etc as the body adapts or in this case grows!............ you must self-experiment bro its the only way to learn what works for us individually..... what works for me may not work for you and vice - versa.... thats the fun of Bodybuilding bro its an ever evolving thing.
I get exactly what your saying and I tell people the same thing. what works for me may not work for you. Would you help me with a contest cycle bro. the stats are listed below. I already have a trainer for diet and coaching but not sure exactly what would be best. I would really appreciate your help because losing is not an option. I wanna get everything ready to go for when I start prep. You obviously know what your talking about so I would appreciate it your help if you have the time.
For a non-bodybuilding website anything to do with prep protocols seems to be an emotionally charged subject every time it comes up. Your approach is the safest. But, I always think twice before putting in my 2 cents on this topic cause of the blow back (in this non BB site). LOL
Furthermore, I thought you were easing into retirement mode - winding things down on the training a bit, certainly easing things up on the diet a bit - maybe a less time consuming role here if at all - and now your posting about going for 15 lbs more stage weight going into another comp.
You ain't never gonna retire.
I say this at least 3 times a day to people that come into my work and people at the gym.
Good luck! Back in june I was planning to do a show this month but as I'd not even been to watch a show started to think I'm setting myself up to fail. So I'm going to watch it just to see what type of physique and size I'm up against. I can watch all manner of stuff on YouTube but I'll get a better perspective seeing them in the flesh (no homo lol) I'll be doing men's physique tall. Hopefully.
I've been to a couple and my buddy gave me some goods stuff about it he went in weighed 179 didn't even place, said everyone is coming in 200-220

Cool. You're the same age and height as me but you're quite heavier than me. I'm prepping for Nationals in November but I stated my prep 16 weeks out. I wouldn't go with the Tren Ace since it's being your first show. You don't need to worry about coming in super hard until you start shows like the Jr. Nationals and so on. I'm assuming that you're doing a state or regional show. So all that won't be necessary. If I was you I would hire a coach to work with as far as diet and training. It will pay off. But go and just hire the first one that you come across. As far as the drug regiment I would suggest something starting 8 weeks out.
Weeks 1-8 Test Prop 50mg ED
Weeks 1-8 Mast Prop 50mg ED
Weeks1-8 Anavar 50mg ED
Weeks 1-8 Aromasin Adjust to whats needed.
Get some Clen to have if needed as well.
Pretty easy standard cycle. ED pins will assure that blood and gear levels stay consistent. When you get closer to show then you would need to worry about a diuretic. I would suggest something like Hydravax from Metabolic Nutrition stacked with some Dandelion Root.
From personal experience DON'T rely on the drugs to bring your conditioning in. Let your diet and training do that.
Sounds like a good cycle..what are your thoughts/opinion on adding halo to the last 2-3 wks of the cycle before contest? Had a competitor tell me it's something to look at
If anything I would recommend Anadrol just because you're going to be in a calorie deficient diet and we want to preserve as much muscle as possible and some strength too.
Bro, I wouldn't recommend drol as a prep compound to someone who's never used it before in that way. He needs time when it doesn't matter to see how he responds. It has the potential to adversely impact his conditioning. Halo, as the oral androgen component in the prep stack is very common in the US.
Just because he responds one way in the off season when his macros and goals are different doesn't mean that he is going to respond the same way when he is in contest prep. He doesn't have any experience in HALO either and you guys are suggesting that? The more liver toxic compound? The one that tends to give people more aggression? And then your going to give him that when he's going to be in a calorie deficit diet which is already going to piss him off because he's going to be hungry all the time? You say common practice in the US like I'm not from here. Everyone is different. Every one responds different ways. It's just a matter of finding a method of madness that works for you. There's more than one way to skin a cat. But that's also why I suggest he finds him a good prep coach so he doesn't go into this completely blind like I did.
For the record im not telling anybody to do anything, I asked in your experience, once I found out you have never ran halo there wasnt much to talk about, so I suggested doing so after you have.
Honestly at no point of this conversation have I advised the OP to do anything, I was just trying to see why you picked anadrol over halo.
The reason I say that in my experience, while I dont run contests, it would be a go to compound. Is mainly because i dont have to worry about water retention.
As for the sides you listed, your right everybody is different, halo doesnt seem to bother me at all.
I have ran Halo but I haven't ran it for the use of contest prep. But I also am not going to suggest that I haven't done personally.
Interesting, in your experience anadrol is better then halo in calorie deficit? Doesn't anadrol convert to estro? Any concern there for water retention that close to show?
A lot of the guys over here use Drol rather than Halo these days Noid. I think the reality is there is more water which puts more pressure on AI / Diuretic control, but without as much of a short fuse problem that Halo can bring. I know for me personally Halo for me is a no go purely for the aggression reason!
Personally I haven't tried Halo in a calorie deficit. I don't retain water easy so it's never been an issue with me. Right now I'm 6 weeks out and I'm running Dbol/anadrol together and I'm lean as fuck. Which I will drop the Dbol completely and lower my Drol dose closer to show and continue the anadrol. Levelup is another person that has done this. Shelby Starns has done this on several clients and one of those people is the person that's doing my prep for this show and Nationals which I'm 11 weeks out from. I want to say that yes anadrol does convert to estro.
we will need to have this conversation after you run halo. I dont do comps but from my experience with it it would be a go to compound pre-contest.
Well I'm always down for input and suggestions. That's why we're here, right? To learn? I got 30 Halos in my box that I've been sitting on for a minute.:-/
205-210 may be on the larger side.. SC competes mens physique and will be right under 200 for stage.
I had a friend compete in a big national show at 179 and didn't place he said everyone was coming in between 200 and 220
I was under the impression once you hit 200lbs, NPC is old news; you have to move on to bodybuilding...but then again I heard the 200 lbs BB class is a really hard class to win, that's why people stay in NPC under 190ish... I'm already 200 lbs going for 220-230 EBC, so hell that would put me into the heavyweight class with the big boys right?
NPC is everything. Bikini, men and women's physique, figure and body building in all classes. NPC is what you compete in as an amateur before winning a pro card and going on to the IFBB. Under or above 200 doesn't mean shit. Even if you are a body builder you're still a physique athlete. Light heavy weight is around 195.
I wouldn't think so..... after stage prep diet and drying out phases you would more than likely be back at 200 or maybe even lighter if you got into superb condition....... looking at your EBC pics @ 202/5 i think it said........... if you had to prep hard for stage work right now i would estimate you would have to get down to around 185/188 to be truly competitive @3 or 4% BF........... Half of the weight loss would be pure water believe it or not bro.
Thank you for the referral, Babe.:-)
Thanks fellas
I think test prop, EQ and masteron would be better. The guys I've seen and known who did tren, generally were told they're too big/hard looking. In essence you want the same level of conditioning as the 70s bodybuilder.
Good luck man! I'm bulking know and I'll see where I stand come January to see if I am big enough for a show
Good luck for the comp bro
