going cold turkey is also pretty dangerous and tends to do more harm to then brain in general. A sudden change in chemistry is never a good thing. Gradual changes are best for the body, it makes things easier and allows your brain time to "reset"

not to mention some drugs are extremely dangerous to go cold turkey. ssri's - serotonin syndrome, benzodiazepines - seizures, permanent brain damage, impaired cognition, panic attacks etc. opiate withdrawal can cause death in extreme cases.
when the brain has a massive imbalance, bad things happen. going cold turkey on powerful drugs can induce that imbalance faster than the brain can respond to.
take your time. be safe. taper/ween off slowly.

I was a IV meth, coke, heroin, "whatever-I-could-shoot-up addict" and alcoholic.

When I lost everything and was at my lowest, I was alone, teary-eyed. I quite literally said out loud to myself, "I give up. I can't do this anymore".

At that moment the song "Bridge Over Troubled Water" started playing on the radio... I never looked back. It was my miracle. I seized the moment.

When you're weary
Feeling small
When tears are in your eyes
I will dry them all

I'm on your side
When times get rough
And friends just can't be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

When you're down and out
When you're on the street
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you

I'll take your part
When darkness comes
And pain is all around
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

Sail on Silver Girl,
Sail on by
Your time has come to shine
All your dreams are on their way

See how they shine
If you need a friend
I'm sailing right behind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
