A Drill shutting down the power grid on November 12 & 13

ad
There is a government drill set to occur on November 12 & 13, 2013. It will affect Canada, Mexico & The United States. All government Depts are partaking in addition to the FBI, anti terrorism experts & 150 businesses....It is aimed at both physical & cyber atracks. It is being dscribed as a "crisis practice unlike anything the real power grid has ever experinced.

There isnt much clarification on exactly what will happen or how it will affect the people of all 3 countries but to me it just sounds ominous. i cant help but to remeber about the drills that were running on 9/11, the day of the Boston Bombing at Sandy Hook etc. so i was wondering if anyone else has heard of this and if they know how this will unfold and are they shutting down any of the power grid for real even for a few hours.

Lmfao that was a def giggle out loud
BlackDoug's picture

Lol now that's sarcastic!

Muffins's picture

I was being facetious.

alayna's picture

Oh now you tell me after i read all of that link even though im tired ugh lol ;)

BlackDoug's picture
I don't see anything wrong with registering one. I mean I'd prefer not to but if it were my only option....... You know what I mean?
alayna's picture

Yah i know i got the application...gotta get finger printed, once im cleared then i can buy one handgun...the thing that bothers me is if they had gun confiscation they wld go first to the registered people

boldone's picture

Yep. They're pulling that on older assault weapons now. They're trying to get everyone to register every rifle that can take a mag, then pull the grandfather ability and confiscate it. Get something from both sides of the law. If the government has drones, tanks, and nukes, why can't we have some fast firing rifles?

Muffins's picture

There are other ways to get a new gun unregistered, granted killing someone with it would result in some serious issues. Gunbroker for instance, has unknowing individuals willing to ship directly to your home bypassing FFL dealers.

BlackDoug's picture
The best way to get one around here is to just go to the gun shows. Don't buy one off the vendors. You buy them off of the people that bring them looking to sell or trade...... No paper work!
Muffins's picture

Very good point! I've never gone to one. I do however have a gunbroker seller that's ships to me directly, good guy.

alayna's picture

So if someone broke in my house and i shot them with that gun wld i go to jail? btw i dont know what FFL means

J.Mc.'s picture

Yeah it varies state to state but it'd be ok to blow their damn head off in my state

alayna's picture

do you believe in jersey we cant even buy mace....i tried to buy it from BUDK catalogue but they wouldn't ship it to me...so if some piece of shit tries to rape or mug me and i used my illegal mace i could go to jail...is that crazy or what....

Muffins's picture

Good thing you have Var

alayna's picture

Omg yr right!! and i forgot i have 12 1/2" guns two of them!

BlackDoug's picture

Each state has their own self defense laws. In ohio if they break into your house you have the right to protect yourself with deadly force. It used to be that you had to prove your life was threatened like if they had a weapon. That law was so vague that it had to be changed.

Muffins's picture

FFL = federal firearm license, which is held by individuals that can sell/transfer firearms. In most instance, if I purchased a gun say online, I have to have it mailed to an individual or business holding this license first. They would then provide me with the gun, after contacting the ATF, providing all my information and running a background check. Boom, your serial number just went into the system.

If your state law is to register all guns, you would be charged with failure to register, which would compound the death issue.

alayna's picture

I live in jersey we have strict gun laws

Muffins's picture

You may want to look into lethal FPS (feet per second) pellet guns, as an alternative. There are some great semi-automatic pellet guns that hold high-capacity.

I have my daughter capable of shooting one accurately. This was done so if shit hit the fan she could defend herself, without the excessive recoil.

alayna's picture

i googles it that sure looks like a real gun its not?

BlackDoug's picture

Well it's going to be on tonight's news on CBS at 11

alayna's picture

tks btw

BlackDoug's picture

No problem..... It's funny because I just blew it off like it's just a random topic to make conversation. Sure as shit I was watching How I Met Your Mother that I DVR'd and there was a commercial that's about what you're talking about. So there must be something to it.

alayna's picture

Well its just weird and came up on my radar and i had one of those "Huh" moments so i wanted to see what other ppl knew...

alayna's picture

Well ill watch

Muffins's picture

This would cost corporate America billions. My money says it will never happen, but it does justify a generator purchase I've been wanting to make. Now, I just shove this article in front of the gf for purchase approval.

Doss's picture

I know it'll eat into my gear fund if my fridge has no power for 2 days and everything spoils! Not too mention how badly my damn bedding would smell. I have to wash that shit every fricking day...

Muffins's picture

I have about 3/4 of a cow in my deep freeze. I'd have to murder someone if that spoiled,

alayna's picture

the drill is real for sure...what im trying to find out is how it will affect all the ppl from 3 differrent countries....i cant imagine they wld shut the power down but who knows what the hell they're planning exactly....so i def say buy the generator cant go wrong no matter what Smile

Greg's picture

There would be too much liability if a drill actually shut down the grid. So it will never (purposefully) happen.

When I was an air traffic controller in the AF we would have drills that simulated an aircraft accident. Que cards would be handed out at different times to simulate the real time unfolding of a chaotic situation as fires broke out and deaths occurred.

The more involved ones included civilian authorities and other military branches (coast guard and navy).

So I doubt if the drill will be anything more than a test of the communication systems and protocols between agencies looking for breaks and shortcomings.

alayna's picture

but why are all these businesses involved too...how do you simulate shutting the power grid in 3 countries though? i guess since i live near manhattan i'm suspect i cant help it.

BlackDoug's picture

I don't think they start real fires for a fire drill!!!

scoobydoo's picture

They start real fires to practice putting them out.

alayna's picture

LOL This is true...i was married to a fireman

BlackDoug's picture

I was never a fireman but I was Mr. December in a calendar lol. Kinda off the subject but you know how you heard about those fireman always making a calendar .

alayna's picture

Ooohh i wld like to see that photo lol

alayna's picture

Lol i wld hope so im sure thats why she married you

BlackDoug's picture

Lol my wife likes it! She would even like it if I was in a burlap sack tied at both ends.

She just loves me I guess......

BlackDoug's picture

Yes they do that's called training.

Greg's picture

This is how...

A scenario is written up
A team is dispatched to the key players in the drill to observe and lead the role play with cue cards.

One observer hands a technician at the hoover dam a cue card. The tech reads the card and picks up an emergency phone that connects him simultaneously to several emergency agencies. The tech says several times that this is a test, reads the cue card which states that there has been an explosion and that the dam has failed, power is out... he'll finish up by saying several times that this is a test.

The agencies responsible for filling the gap left by the dam failure will start their protocols to divert power to Arizona and Nevada. An observer at one of those agencies will hand out a cue card indicating that a transformer has exploded and a fire has broken out... the tech will pick up his phone, "this is a test, this is a test..."

Within hours the disaster will have brought the entire grid down from canada to mexico.

Police, fire, national guard, FEMA, red cross... Corporations with large supply distribution groups (e.g., Costco, walmart, mcdonalds) all might play a part in keeping civil rest, order, and emergency support.

alayna's picture

Wow that sounded too real!

alayna's picture

idk who lou dobbs is you can google it

alayna's picture

Its actually the Amero ...the Euro already exists in Europe

alayna's picture

That was actually true and still not off the table...the candian ppl protested it.

Greg's picture

If the EU ever actually became a threat I could see that happening... But the EU is basically imploding.

We would have to take over mexico and "absorb" them like the Germans did with east germany... So yea, ain't gonna happen.

alayna's picture

Dont be so sure!
