Are all condiments the Devil?
ad
I find most diet / fat free products to generally be deceptive and bullshit therefore I use very little to none. I mean how can you have diet / fat free on the label AND high fructose corn syrup and 150 other chemical ingredients? WTF? Is there such thing as a good condiment?

Marketing's the Devil! I just throw pepper on everything
Not at all..good way to flavor food. As always,,,use in moderation.
heinz has a ketchup now with reduced sugar.only 5 calories per ser
Another suggestion: You can make your own vinaigrette by mixing jam (any flavor of your choosing) with red wine vinegar and olive oil. You can omit the olive oil if you want to make yours low fat.
Hmmph, interesting thanks for the tip! =)
Thanks for all the great responses they really helped! =)
Musturd is a must...bad pun intended. I prefer Dijon.
Good hot sauces as you don't need much.
Horseradish.
I am a big fan of mixing Tamari with fresh garlic, fresh ginger and spring onion. Awesome on Steamed Chicken and the Tamari is a big leap up from using Soy.
Franks red hot. I put that shit on everything
Great suggestions on the hummus, David! +1
I forgot to add, salsa is also a great condiment for certain fish, chicken, and eggs. I make mine low sodium, with squeezed lemon instead of salt.
Hummus - This Middle Eastern dip made from chickpeas packs a load of fiber and a mayo like richness without the calories. Try combining it with roast beef and roasted red peppers.
I love some good ol Tabasco on everything and not so bad for you cause there ain't much in it..
I don't know what u need the condiment for but I use garlic infused vinegar or balsamic vinegar on meats and veggies both. If u want spicy and some more omega 3's take olive oil and throw in 6 or 7 dried cayenne peppers or even chopped jalapeños for me. Let marinate a week or better and ur g2g
Curious. I've been interested in making my own spiced olive oil, but I am worried that putting fresh spices (as opposed to dry ones) will start going bad during the marination process. How long will the olive oil last if I put fresh garlic, or parmesan cheese, or fresh chopped basil leaves, or fresh jalapeños in there? And how long can I leave these things in the olive oil?
Flavored olive oil? sounds dope...thanks buddy! =D
Instead of ketchup, I use Pace picante sauce. Put it on egg whites and also like to dip my chicken in it. Its a lil high in sodium, but only ten calories, three carbs, and two grams of sugar.
OMG. great idea why the hell didn't I think of this...Thanks for the tip! =)
A1 is only 15 calories, its good with steak or chicken to help with dryness. I love chipotle tabasco. That is a life saver on some egg whites and good on meat also, close to zero calories.
Good tip tried both much better thanks buddy! =)
Aside from making my own honey mustard, ponzu, yuzu, miso paste, and lemon are some of my all-time favorite condiments. When you want to go with low calorie, stick with Asian flavors, just remember they are usually pretty high in sodium instead.
Certain types of BBQ sauce brands aren't really all that bad either. You can also use miso paste, or olive oil and vinaigrette, and plain old salt and pepper.
This sounds really cool but uh how do you make your own?
Well, to make ur own honey mustard all u have to do is mix mustard with honey. You can add wasabi or ground horseradish or grated ginger and any other spices you like to give it some flavor. I don't do a reduction or anything, just serve it as is.
Oh, I forgot to add that when you make your own honey mustard, you will want to also add vinegar with the honey and mustard. Then you can use whatever spices you want in addition.
AnonWhat makes you think all condiments are "fat free " thats only if you choose that varirety.
What are you trying to "dress up" and maybe I can give you some ideas. Are you looking for a spread, a dipping sauce, a dressing, a marrinade ?
I could use some ideas for ground sirloin if you have any
I agree, mustard is the only condiment I use.
Mustard
What are your thoughts on low sodium soy sauce?
AnonCheck this out
This is a substitute I use for soy sauce, and you can use it on a bunch of other foods too!
