Post Hernia Surgery
NOT SURE WHERE I WOULD POST THIS. But figured most people look in this thread, so it might be a good place to start.
Got hernia surgery 2 weeks ago. Wanted to know if any of you guys have experience with this, or know anyone with this. It was in the groin area on the left side. Im walking fine, moving fine up and down stairs, minimal pain. I know I will need a good 2-6 more weeks of recovery time ATLEAST before I start training or doing anything with the weights.
My question is:
1) If you have or know anyone who has been through this, what was your experience with the post surgery recovery time?
2) Obviously I wont be able to jump into a hard routine right off the bat, but would supplementing my recovery with my next (second cycle) cycle be a bad thing? Or would it aid in my recovery?
3) Should I wait a couple months until I feel comfortable going balls to the walls with heavy compounds before I start my second cycle? (Im going to be lifting in the 10-15 rep range for the next couple months atleast before I start trying to lift up houses.)

Six weeks and you'll be good to go as if nothing happened... better in fact.
I'm about to have the same surgery on the 9th of next month. The doctor is going to give me a just a week off work after that and return me to work doing light duty?! Well..I'm an auto worker..so we'll see how that one goes..good luck to you!
I was off work 3 months after mine and out of the gym for a while but my dr. Was super careful
Yeah my man, it was 8, maybe 10 weeks before I got back into my regular routine. Had the same surgery and I think they used a crowbar when they put in the mesh.... sounds like you're up and getting around. That 1st week was hell for me.... just keep your diet half assed clean and you'll be fine. I sat on the couch and ate ice cream for a month and got fat!!! I would wait until your 100% to start any cycle.... good luck!
smallguyThats pretty much what I've been doing the past 3 weeks. My doc said by week 6 I wont have any restrictions. He said theres nothing that worries him about me lifting. I gave him my lift stats just so he had an idea of what kind of numbers I would be lifting. He wasnt worried at all. He said between week 3 and 4 I should be able to get back into light stuff and condition my muscles, improve circulation, etc. And by week 6, g2g.
Question for you, how does the injury site feel to you when you train legs or do heavy rowing exercises standing?
