Working out with Injuries
ad
I'm going on 6 weeks or so since I tore my pec muscle. Doc said 6 weeks healing and minimal motion/stretching during this period. I'm a bit of a rebel and continued to do some light lifting, mostly just bi's, some shoulders and tri's. Avoiding anything that moved my chest the wrong way. Mostly I've just been focusing on legs and cardio. Hoping things start to feel a bit normal but I can tell you one thing a torn pec muscles is a mighty weird feeling.
Anyway I'm curious about other's experiences with injuries and how they managed throughout the healing process.

I tore my right pec two years ago. It took six months for me to heal where I could do any chest work. Mine was pretty severe and I'm missing almost a third of my chest on the right side now. Now I don't want to give you bad advice man but I worked everything but chest and shoulders and I went back to the gym the next day. I'm also a fitter/welder so I lift heavy material all day everyday at work before I even get to the gym. Just listen to your body and like what has already been posted if it hurts stop doing it. Good luck with your injury and don't be in a rush to do chest anytime soon.
I'm the worst at taking doctors advice except for this ones Sports Doc that gave me the best advice ever when I asked when I could resume working out after a hernia surgery. Most docs would say 6 weeks rest. Mine told me "whenever I felt like I was ready". So I asked if I was going to damage something. I'll never forget what he said... "If you feel pain, STOP". That's the way I handle any type of injury now and it's worked great for both my recoveries and mental health.
Agree. Simple, but the right way to proceed.
+2 bro that's solid advice
