Trained once per week calves wont grow.
Work them 2 times per week.
One must be hard workout with lots of weight and less reps and second one must be 30 reps with lighter weight.
Try this technique for 50 days and let me know how it worked for you.
going to give this a go man, ill let ya know
i split my leg day up
quads and calves
hams and calves
usually about 3 days apart
2 25lb plates on the floor to stand on in the smith machine. then pyramid 2 plates, 3, 4, 5, 4, 3, 2, 2
thoughs numbers are for each side.
i usually do not go that heavy both times a week.
i do get "dam thous some big calves"lol also in summer and spring i bike alot but that helps lean them down so i get the split down the middle
ill have to give something like this a go!
AnonSprinting and hiking up hills have seemed better to me than any exercize I could do in a gym.
Go running in the woods and sprint up every steep grade. If you dont have woodland then try to find a big set of stairs, and just run up them with the leading edge of your foot just barely on the stair tread..
Thanks for the input guys, really appreciate it
Best to switch it up but i like weighted donkey calf raises, bend over touch your toes slight bend in knees, stand on a curb on someyhing raised to get a stretch at the bottom and do slow concentrated reps, youll be feelin nice the day after
56tooI really believe genetcs plays a big role here but one can always as with all other bodyparts bring your best out. Ill train themtwice a week, once heavy the other lighter. Also try doing them very controlled with stretching at bottom and holding contraction at top. I do about 6-8 sets
CleyonI am a calf freak, mine grow too fast. If I train them regularly they will grow much faster than my quads. It's genetics for me (you should see my Dad's calves). Just like bicept peaks and chest roundness, you can train to get the best results for YOUR body, but it is not necessarily going to yield the results of your favorite pro.
AnonI agree with you. Genetics are a huge factor in the development. Training will yield some results, but genetics will determine the extent of those results. I rarely train mine and they are huge. Likewise, I have friends that train the hell out of theirs and they barely grow. They always ask me what I do to get mine so big. Truth is, they've been that way since I was a kid.
Yup!!!
