+ 1 The most essential piece of equipment for your cooking arsenal

ad

I've read a bunch of articles with great recipes and ideas for portioning, as well as pre packaging. The only thing is now you have to cook a bunch of meals every day. The piece of equipment I know will make all of your lives so much easier is a slow cooker/crock pot. We all know buying in bulk saves you money, so logically cooking in bulk will save you time. I know I don't want to fire up the grill or stove for every meal and I am sure you are all the same. The slow cooker allows you to utilize portioning and pre packaging in the most efficient manner. The slow cooker is so easy to use it is fool proof. Just look up the type of meat you are cooking online and number of pounds to be cooked and you will find recipes along with the amount of cooking time needed. Set the slow cooker on low for the number of hours needed, then add your spices and marinades, and the only cooking resposibilty you will have left is to flip the meat half way through cooking time. Now you have your meat portions for the next few days. All that is left is to eat big and get big!

Not only does a slow cooker make life easier but it gives us the ability to eat cuts of meat that would normally be too tough to eat. Certain cuts of pork are 80 cents a pound because you have to cook them all day to be able to even chew it.

I soak black beans in the fridge overnight, then I load the crock up with the toughest cuts of pork, add spices and some huge gloves of garlic. If I'm making it for just me I'll add organs and maybe even some ears, but I'll eat anything.

I spend 3-4 hours once a week cooking for the entire week, usually on Sunday. I fire the grill up for most of my animal proteins, cook up a big batch of rice or quinoa, bake a bunch of sweet potatoes, scramble a few dozen eggs, make up a big batch of oat meal, etc. and then roast up some Brussles Sprouts, broccoli, etc and then portion everything out. I make three solid meals a day, and then eat string cheese, nuts, apples, etc in between with a couple shakes as well. It's a lot of dishes to clean up, but meh, it beats the hell out of cooking everyday.

Reading this makes me want to raid the fridge! Something I like to do with oatmeal is put 6 cups in a bowl. Buy one of the chocolate protein shakes at the grocery store that has 60g protein and low sugar. Put it in the bowl with chia seeds, hemp seeds, flax seeds, and raisins. Put in the fridge over night and you have a bomb oatmeal protein combo for the next few days.

Nice! What's also really good is granola/yogurt parfait. Same concept, except you put plain Greek yogurt over granola over night, and in the morning it's all soft and amazing Smile Chia, Hemp and Flax totally optional.

I use that in my smoothies. I never thought about making it a parfait over night. It doesn't get mushy? I like the crunch. Good idea though.

I wouldn't call it mushy, but it's not crunchy. You could always top it with fresh Smile

I agree man! I used my nutribullet so much it died! Went with the nutri ninja this time. Works well and is good for making multiple smoothies. Only con is the motor is loud as hell! It is the best way to get down all your veggies. I am drinking one right now as a matter of fact! Thanks for the response

The good thing is a lot more people are getting in to it so they are cheaper to replace if you are out of warranty. We just buy everything at bbb because they will take everything back forever lol.

I hear ya buddy. I rarely use anything else to cook meat. It just gives you more time to do all the other things we have to do on the daily without worrying about cooking 6 to 8 meals a day.
