Adding size
ad
Hi all
I'm looking to add muscle size without too much fat , I do a lot of cardi rig / crossfit classes to keep weight at 17 1/2 ish stone but I would like to add size but keep fitness so question is it possible to add quality muscle if you do 500- 1000 cals a day on on cardio or do I need to simply bulk up and lay off fitness work say 50% ?
My course wil be test 400 - 500 mg per week
Age 39
Height 6ft 5
Normal non cardio weight 18st 10 ish but prob near 20% body fat then
My cals near 4000 a day but job and excercise burn fair bit
Thanks for any input

Hit the 19 stone barrier and thinking I've been enjoying the bulking a bit too much so will Taylor my calories to suit being half stone lighter
Been training for strength with isolation exercises at end of workout and now I have a training partner full time really pushing on . Dropping the cardio pretty much except couple classes a week but I'm now getting to the point where I feel heavy so will ease down on calories by 500- 1000 a day
Bit of an update
I've put on fair bit of weight now up to 18 and a half ish so think I've found decent balance as not gained an excessive amount of fat yet , and less cardio is a beautiful thing
BetterOnTopIf you want to add "size" than cardio is counter productive ,but will not hinder or prevent gains. Your just burning energy that could be used to build muscle. Permitting your still consuming enough calories to compensate for the cardio and what is required to build muscle than your fine. But cardio while bulking is a waste of energy imo. Cardio is great for a healthy hearth though. So it all comes down to personal preference.
Hi mate I get what your saying and intend to cut back on cardio fair bit and keep an eye on my calories to make sure I don't balloon too much the link below by makwa looks exactly the thing I need
I have found this works well for exactly what you are trying to do.
