I Believe Vitamins And Supplements Are A Must In Bodybuilding

ad

What's up guys? I just wanted to address the situation of how important vitamins and supplements are in the bodybuilding world. If you're going to push your body beyond it's natural capabilities, or if you just want to push your body to it's limits, than I really believe that you need to supply your body with the necessary and truly beneficial vitamins and supplements to feed the machine, and to keep your body at its optimal performing capacity. Of course foods, which supply protein, carbs, fats, and other essentials are also a major part of bodybuilding, but for this particular topic, I'm going to leave them out. AND IN NO WAY ARE THEY LESS IMPORTANT, WHICH I'M SURE EVERYONE ALREADY KNOWS THAT, BUT I'D LIKE TO JUST FOCUS ON VITAMINS AND MINERALS FOR THIS TOPIC! I usually take a mix of vitamins and supplements, three times daily, with maybe a couple more for pre-workout and post-workout. So, the vitamins and supplements that I take daily, are; 1 multivitamin and mineral, 1 time-released B-Complex wita C, 1 vitamin D:4000iu, 1 magnesium 500mg, N-A-C 600mg, Soya Lecithin 1200mg, 2 Kyolic caps twice daily, 2 Flaxseed Oil 1000mg of omega-3 plus omega 6 and 9, 2 CoQ10 100mg caps, 1 Resveratrol 100mg, Saw Palmetto Combo, 3000mg of Biotin, 2 Alpha Lipoic Acid Daily 600mg, 1 Maxium-Strength Plant Sterols, 1 Lutein 40mg, 3 Milk Thistle Extract 250mg. And before bed, I take 10mg of Melatonin and ZMA. Everything I take does play it's part in building muscle, loosing weight, and training in general. At times, I do think that this is maybe a little much to be taking everyday. I'm interested in which vitamins and supplements that some of you guys are taking while running gear! But, I've been taking this amount of vitamins and supplements for years now, and I feel exceptionally well while taking them. Everybody tells me that I look like I'm only about in my early twenties, when meanwhile I'm 36 years old! I go for bloodwork very often, and my doctor has said that it sounds like I might be overdueing it a little, but I've never had any kind of negative effects. So, in conclusion, I'd really just like to hear of some other people's vitamin and supplement regimen.

I purchased a mens multi from Puritans Pride. Took around 8am, took a dump around 6pm. This is gross, but I noticed what looked like a big puffy Cheeto in my stool?? I was curious as to what it was so I dug it out with some tweezers, rinsed it, broke it in half and sure enough it was the pill I swallowed 10 hours prior.....Not saying its fake, it passed thru my digestive system without breaking down. Maybe I need to take more probiotics.. LoL!!!!!

It works better second time around.

Does anyone know a good source of vitamins and supplements in the UK?

I buy vitamins from Sports Inside here is the link https://sportsinside.co.uk/ and at times I go to the local store as well. As far as my experience goes these guys have good price and return policy. I don't take supplements and vitamins unless Dr prescribed. Never just go with a reputable company because others have used and they had good results. It's best practice to consult nutritionist or doctor first. Good luck

multi vitamin and omega 3 is the best

Dang, that is a lot of pills to be popping. I would never be able to keep track of it all. I remember back in the day taking that huge packet of pills that came in those Animal paks. lol. There was a time I used to take a boatload of vit/sups but now I don't take anything. Don't notice anything different other than now I don't have a wall of pill bottles lining my window sill over the kitchen sink.

In specific situations I'll take specific supplements. When I am blasting mast I'll take something for my prostate like saw palmetto. When running orals I'll take Tudca and some other liver aids. When I am dropping water I'll take mega doses of vit C. When cutting I'll be drinking Machta and popping green tea pills but I don't have a supplement routine for year round use, just for specific situations. I don't eat a lot of processed foods and I get grassfed beef from my neighbor and have an ample supply of wild game and fish along with a huge garden in the summer for fresh veggies and a chicken coupe with 12 chickens for all my eggs. I think eating like that takes care of most of my supplement needs. Don't know if you are from the city or not, but city folk may not have that type of easy access to those types of foods so supplementing may very well be necessary and obviously beneficial.

If what you are taking makes you feel better than I would keep doing it. You are likely lacking in something that your supps are making up for in that situation. I just never really noticed much of a difference if any when I was taking a boatload of stuff so it was kind of frivolous for me to keep taking all that stuff.

I take fish oil, flax seed oil and one protein drink daily. I’m very brand specific on my supplements.

Supplements always brings a lot of heat down on the person who is advocating them. Personally I'd love to be someone who could grow and keep all my own organic food, eat fish everyday and shove tofu up my arse. Problem is I can't, and I've tried it, all of it. I'll leave it to the perfect people with there exceptional genetics who are worlds above me.

Us mere mortals will look to supplement our balanced diets where we can in a hope to be a little more healthier, not a defining factor but even if something helps by 1% that's a lot in this life for someone like me.

My current stack is: LIV52, multi, fishoils (over a gram of each eph and dha), fiber, zinc, vit c, Lecithin, cardio and 6/8 litres of water.

All of these I can tell the difference when I'm not running them, apart from the multi which I probably piss most of it out but it's cheap and it will help some what.

Lol, so you freely admit that you tried shoving tofu up your ass? Purely for the health benefits, huh? Seems like that should be followed up with a no homo, but to each his own I reckon Smile

I say yolo not no homo!

I don't believe you need to take vitamins , my grandparents lived well into their 90's and they never even heard of vitamins , their diet was fresh fish and potatoes . The amount of vitamins your taking is ridiculous in my opinion.

'But, I've been taking this amount of vitamins and supplements for years now, and I feel exceptionally well while taking them. Everybody tells me that I look like I'm only about in my early twenties, when meanwhile I'm 36 years old! So did your parents of grandparents take all those vitamins ? My grandparent was a big guy , muscly , never been to a gym and never heard of any vitamin so I think your vitamin theory is invalid, unless your deficient in vitamin d , c etc .

I disagree with you and I don’t believe pumping our bodies full of stuff that can come from food is healthy OR needed. I look pretty good and almost take nothing myself.

Some of my close friends overseas look amazing just from hard work and healthy food. I mean healthy from either growing it or killing it for meat. ZERO package food or grocery stores for them. Back yard grown fruit and veggies and meat from the local market killed that day with no hormones added.

I agree 100% most vitamins you take that are not delivered from food are pissed out or shit out before the body absorbs them

Currently I'm taking saw palmetto, milk thistle, multivitamin, omega 3/6/9, niacin, red yeast rice, taurine, l-citruline/l-arginine, ala, and vitamin c.

The one supplement that I'm taking that I think has the most value for me is the omega 3/6/9. If I stop taking that I can tell a difference in my vision and my skin.

Eat more fish, especially ocean caught salmon, and ocean caught cod and pollack, problem solved, no need to supplement fish oil if you eat at least a 4 oz piece of fish per day

herpjunkie111's picture

I'll give that a try. I eat fish 2-3 times per week, usually wild caught Alaskan salmon or tuna steaks. If it keeps my vision straight I'll know I'm getting enough. Without the fish oil my vision is very blurry, but with it I've got eagle eyes. Age thing I guess..... thanks for the tip.

Eat it for lunch instead of dinner or an after breakfast snack
