Caesin

ad

Ok so quick question I know when we have regular shakes throughout the day it's 2 scoops but considering the casein is slow absorbing are two necessary? Thanks for taking time to answer such a small question

Yes its nnecessary. At night during rem sleep you natty GH spikes. I want protein in my blood for any positivr spike. Also, if your the normal sleep by ten dude....that'd 9hours no protein and hungry muscles. Whey the day! Case the night!

except for all the fat in cottage cheese

They make fat free cottage cheese now.

yes, that would be the larger difference between the cottage cheese and casein powder...fat content

this has come into question many times, and I've argued it with people ALOT, not on here but elsewhere. here's the thing..whether it's slow, medium, or fast digesting protein...your body can still only process about 35-40g/meal. and this is if you aren't on juice of course, and if you are, I would say it is safe to consume probably 50-60g protein in a sitting.
I have ALSO researched/read that there isn't much of difference in taking in 25g of WPI than taking in 40g WPI...I know that we are talking about casein here and not whey, BUT I believe a connection can still be made, ya think maybe? it's evidently possible...or is not all protein created equal? Of course, we are talking about complete protein(s) here!
I know me personally, I have NO problem digesting 40g protein per meal no matter what the protein is...whole food, casein, whey, etc. Maybe I might be wasting a lil' protein??...I'm not sure, the opinions differ whether professional or broski science shit. The best thing I can say is what I like to do is create blends...I usually mix TWO scoops for my bedtime shake. One is 24g micellar casein, and the other is a blend of whey, medium digesting proteins, and casein...this way I feel that my needs are covered for an extended period of time without eating to stay as anabolic as possible. Sometimes in a pinch, I do this in the daytime too.
Hope this helps Smile

I dont think thats true, i mean look at all the pro bodybuilders, they eat 60-70g protein with each meal...

bigb101's picture

i saw on youtube yesterday ronnie coleman make a protein shake with 100grams or protein in it and he drinks them often...

mjunkie's picture

so that's what i was saying also, but as DBAG says with the amount of gear that they're on it's a lot easier for their bodies to digest and utilize all that protein

DBG's picture

hell yeah man...year round on heavy cycles like that means taking in HUGE doses of protein ain't shit really, the body loves it!!
And then the more muscle mass that you end up carrying around, then the more protein you can take in on-cycle or off...and well this should be obvious to us fitness fanatics, we all should know that. A larger amount of muscle mass on your frame, and your body has a much larger capacity of caloric burn, which means you need more macronutrients to sustain your desired mass.

I mean technically speaking...if you are a 270lb. BB'er with a BF% in the single digits, then you could take in about 405 to 594g protein/day(1.5-2.2g per lb./bodyweight). That's pretty easy to do considering you could split that up into at least six servings of 100g or less.

mjunkie's picture

fawwwwk that means about half their day is spent eating

DBG's picture

yezzir...that's right!

DBG's picture

yeah...pro bodybuilders are on gear YEAR round too. pay attention to what I wrote as I stated about protein synthesis ON cycle. I know me personally when I start PCT, I can't digest 60g/meal anymore...I get the most horrible smelling gas, a sure sign that my body is NOT digesting the protein. BTW, what I wrote isn't just a fabrication of my own thinking...it's actual research. I just started running some gh recently, and even that increased my metabolism to the point that I can take in MORE protein in a sitting again. There is truth to it.

mjunkie's picture

true true, i kinda just skimmed thru your post before, but i feel like i can digest alot more on cycle too, and ive heard the 'only can digest 40g pro' thing before i just thought it was bro science, good to know

mjunkie's picture

And my nutritionist has me eating 60g at some meals too
