Strongman cycles?

ad

Wasn't exactly sure as where to post this but what is an example of a strongman cycle? I assume its a battle of mass gaining and strength without sending your blood pressure completely through the stratosphere. My assumption would be test and deca and a lot of fucking food but what else would you see in one of these cycles?

Look in groups. Gymjunkie has some examples.

I talked to a guy at Westside Barbell & the current trend is high dose Primo if you can believe it & a dose of Cheque drops 45 minutes before the competition lift(Def not recommended) Like a gram+ a week of Primo he was doing!

press1's picture

I'm extremely surprised at anyone training at Westside running primo - Were you talking to him on the Internet or do you know him personally?

BJ's picture

At a powerlifting meet chatting! There is a video online I'm gonna find & reply on this post that affirms the same story! Give me a few days to find it. This video actually states 1 or 2 grams a week. I was surprised too when I heard it again. Primo never did much to me.

press1's picture

I believe ya buddy don't worry! Maybe its because with it being so safe you are able to run it for very long periods at a time which is often whats required to build up tonnes of strength once you have peaked after using for some time - Test & Deca is a good one too as long as you aren't smashing in any extra orals etc.

I finally found the video! Enjoy

I thought that was Glenn Ross's daily diet?

What’s your cycle history? Not gonna just start spewing out compounds and have you go bananas.

Look at it like this, for strongman you want strength & conditioning, without breaking out of your weight class. Conditioning is going to be as or almost as important as strength. And if ur gonna jump a weight class you better be sure your strength goes up to match it. It’s not just “get big as fuck”.

Plan accordingly.

Zalewski's picture

Oh I don't have the genetics for strongman, I'm just curious because it seems that all you hear about is bodybuilder cycles, was wondering what that was. As for myself I have tried a number of compounds but nothing in high amounts, like my test has only been 500mg at the highest, other anabolics haven't gone over 300mg, and orals is usually what the minimum recommended dose when researching it. I'll be putting more stuff into my profile, gotta pump life into it

DfromPhilly's picture

I don't have the genetics for strongman,

I don’t know what that means. You know there are weight classes in strongman right? Or do you mean you don’t have hard ass work and training for more than one thing at once in your DNA?

Zalewski's picture

Well I was referring to that I'm not 6'6" and 300lbs and I'm not willing to devote my life to it because it's not my interest. Also I do realize there are weight classes but I'd be one to where the end goal is WSM overall, the one people actually give a shit about. Only one guy has won at my height, Gary Taylor in 1993, and strongman has changed since then. I'd have to get to 330ish to be competitive, but once again that's not my interest, so I apologize that I don't wanna work for something I don't want

DfromPhilly's picture

Lol I was just busting your balls dude. Yea if you wouldn’t be happy to compete unless you were going for the super heavyweights then genetics definitely play a big part.

Lots of Test Suspension(painful), but the results speak for themselves, and though I hate it; Anadrol! Fast temporary strength gains!

Zalewski's picture

I remember hear that Brain Shaw came up to Eddie Hall and told him he couldn’t see his ears from the front. Imagine how much anadrol you’d have to take to get that water retention

Eagles 2013's picture

Beth true. Massive (but temporary) size gains if a heavy dose of Anadrol is paired with a high carb diet due to massive increases in glycogen carrying capacity in muscle tissue. I have never tried this and probably never will since I'm not a competitive strongman, but I bet a shot of test suspension mixed with injectable Anadrol would be killer (figuratively, and potentially literally) before a strongman meet.

For strongman events i like suspensions, npp, cheque, and halo. Highly suggest staying away from cheque and halo unless experienced with cycles

Halo sounds like the devil’s drug, gotta give up a liver to have the strength of a demon

OP I would advise leading with some info on your training history, cycle history, stats etc. since you haven't posted much. People will be a lot more likely to chime in with more detailed answers if we know where you are from a training/experience standpoint.

I understand that, I’m new on here in terms of commenting and what not, it’ll fill up as time goes on, I just post any ideas I have as things go on cause it breathe some conversation into the sight

Rusty got you below, you were on the right track.

Wheels is supposed to be running like a gram of test and some pretty hefty doses of anadrol. For strength the cycles are pretty simple. In the really advanced levels you start getting into base/non-ester compounds (from what I’ve read and heard not personal experience). But friends of mine who compete just run test and deca.

Generally anything that jacks blood pressure through the roof is going to help with strength. Also this is the fastest way to die from steroid abuse.

Wheels runs 250 anadrol

Did Scott Mendelson do 1000?

stairmaster's picture

Hope that too, except the person want's to die!

5percent4life's picture

Scott did 1050. 1.5cc per day 7 days week. Completely reckless and not necessary. He also walked around with bloodshot eyes gasping for air in all his vids

You will also lose your competition. Badly. People forget how much conditioning is required in strongman. Very different than powerlifting. It’s like CrossFit for strong people.

I’d like to see someone do a keg medley with bad conditioning. Or even a good loaded carry for that matter. They will not do well.

Bulkdaddy's picture

Little bit less Tren some EQ to balance everything out... ;)

Love me some EQ

Yes Lol

Bearded_muscle's picture

He took a gram of anadrol?!?

press1's picture

Yep - He was running 1g of Anadrol at one point for his bench record. How anyone tolerates that is beyond me. But then again he looks and breathes like he eats a LOT of them regularly.

Bearded_muscle's picture

Fucking hell. Incredible what these guys do to turn their bodies into machines. And what they’re able to accomplish. I was watching some Eddie hall videos this morning. The man is a walking ball of testosterone.

Zalewski's picture

Just for the record I am not trying to be a strongman, I'm just curious cause I see bodybuilding and powerlifting cycles all the time but not strongman so might as well ask you guys

Born Strong is a great one. Last I checked it was on Netflix.

Actually I found out how bad it is from Eddie Hall in one of his videos, he said leading up to the 2017 World's Strongest Man he felt like he was going to die everyday for the last 5 weeks of his prep and that's why he retired

press1's picture

Its because of the absolutely massive amounts of gear they have to run to perform at that level and remain competitive, and also maintain the huge body weights they carry. Never more evident than when Eddie did the 500kg deadlift and he passed out as soon as the bar hit the ground, I imagine there was more Test suspension and anadrol running through his veins than ever lol

Eagles 2013's picture

Yeah was bleeding from from his nose. That shit is insane. I read an interview he gave talking about popping one of his eyes out of the socket because he was straining so hard on the leg press one day.

In a promo × 1
press1's picture

The guy is an absolute Animal and will stop at nothing to achieve a lift lol - Yeh he then stood and pushed it back into its socket and carried on training! Anyone else would be freaking out and jumping into the nearest ambulance straight to A&E! You could tell he was literally right on the limit of what his body could take in terms of cycling that day, I honestly don't think anyone will be beating that DL anytime soon other than a 500lb Genetic monster Lol

Eagles 2013's picture

Yeah, he was like "I just popped it back in. I couldn't see for a few hours but it eventually came back". That dude is a freak. Hard to believe that he started out as a swimmer back in high school!

Yeah, no kidding. Haha I loved how he mentioned it Born Strong that he was so big leading up to the Arnold Classic that it was hard for him and his wife to physically get close enough to bang.
