I did my first cycle when I was 20. I did a 8 week cycle of Test E at 500 mg/wk split up into two injections. I went from 160 to 180 roughly. I did a PCT of Clomid. It was a great first cycle and made amazing gains. I think everyone will agree with me and say a Test only cycle should be your first. I took in about 4000-5000 calories a day. I spent about 2 weeks doing research everyday and how to do them safely. Know what you're doing. You must be dedicated and work your ass off. I didn't get any side effects or any anger issues. As far as the GH goes, you have to run it a while to see results, pin every day, and it does get extremely pricey. I know a lot of people say you shouldn't do a cycle until mid/late 20's, but doing a Test only cycle at 20 would be beneficial with minimal to 0 sides.

How old are you?

This thread gives me such mixed feelings. I was pretty set on buying the supplies for my first cycle (test e) and PCT, but almost all of you advise against it. I'm the same age as juicememore, and I feel like I'm never going to get bigger or stronger without the help of SOMETHING. I was going to start my own thread, but this thread is basically the same as what I was going to post, so I'll just post here.

I'm 20 years old, I started training seriously when I was 17. I have pretty bad bodybuilding genes (I know people often use genetics as an excuse). I reached my full height at 17 and I haven't grown any taller since. I've been underweight my whole life. I am 6'0" and prior to training I was 115 lbs. Admittedly I did have a smaller than average appetite, but it's not like I was anorexic although I kind of looked the part. The first year I gained 20 lbs, but I've been hovering at around 135-140 for the past two. Keep in mind that I'm 6 feet tall. I've been hitting the gym at 4 times a week at the very least since I started lifting. It's fuckin depressing when I've been lifting my ass off and gained a solid amount of weight and I'm still small as a fuckin 14 year old. And I've been in a 2 year long plateau.

I know diet is crucial in making gains so I eat as much as I possibly can. I mean I'm sure I can eat more, but then I'll end up puking it back up (which has happened). The only thing is that I don't really count calories, but a good estimate is 3000 cal/day. It's kind of impossible to keep track specifically unless you never eat out and you cook all your own food.

So thats why I'm considering a cycle of Test E. I've been researching for almost a year and I think HGH would most benefit me, but I don't have the cash. Theres also this study:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-24730151

It says that muscle gains from short term testosterone use are retained for possibly a decade or even longer.

But it seems the general consensus on eroids is that cycling at my age will fuck me up in the long run. I don't know what to think.

i was a hard-gainer too.i was stuck around 130lbs. i couldnt bench 135lbs for the first 6 months i lifted.then i figured it out. being a hard gainer just means you need more food. it doesnt mean you cant get huge. what i changed was i ate every 2 hrs until i was almost sick. i broke my collar bone that year and was still able to put on 45 lbs solid that year alone. if i could get to over 200lb before i started juice, so can anybody else who's goal is bodybuilding oriented.

crazymofo's picture

I consider myself a hard gainer as well. I can relate to how you feel. But with that said from personal experience I know you can still gain. Its not just total calories, its how and what you take in. Try spreading the meals out as much as possible, hell go for 10 - 400 calorie small meals a day. That would put you at 4000. Get some casein protein and always keep a shake in the fridge and if you wake up to piss at night have a shake. I personally love kitchen sink shakes as well. You can toss in some peanut butter, greek yogurt, oats, flax seeds, protein powder and various fruits to make a nice high cal shake that's also good on the go though it will thicken up pretty quickly over time.

Have you been checked out by a doctor? If not go see one and tell him. Maybe you find something maybe not.

You could be overtraining as well. Change up the routine. There is plenty info on the web about working past plateaus, do some research.

As for AAS I know it looks tempting but you should still be able to gain without it. And if you can not eat while on cycle IT WILL BE POINTLESS you will just waste a bunch of money and risk Fing yourself up.

extraneous's picture

Your advice really puts me back on the fence on whether or to cycle. So 3000 calories a day for 140 lb guy wouldn't be enough on cycle? I feel like my natural body chemistry is just prone to being skinny and that some test would be the x-factor in causing some growth. If I was to go ahead and pin, I'd definitely pay very close attention to PCT, but is there really that big of a chance of fucking myself over even with PCT?

edit: It's probably worth mentioning that I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome, but I keep my symptoms mostly under control with this vitamin shake thing that helps for some reason.

crazymofo's picture

There is not set number of calories to gain weight. You have to find out for yourself. The key for me was pushing calories to 4.5k a day spread out, the key being to spread them out. The body can only absorb so much at one time. If you eat 3k say in 2 or 3 meals well you are going to have all kinds of things happening not in your favor. One is the protein will not be able to be properly digested, a natty person can only digest about 25g at a time. You will use a lot of the calories you do get to make fat as well which sure gets you weight but don't want fat weight.

A common problem could be a thyroid issue. As far as IBS goes that is typical of stress and/or diet issues. Again this just makes me think a little doctor visit with some simple blood work could be very helpful.

The main thing AAS does is allow the body to recover through increased protein synthesis. It basically speeds up natural function, it doesn't change it. The way I approach BBing is put things in order of importance: Diet>Sleep>Training>Supplementation
I consider AAS supplementation. My reasoning being is you have to have the one preceding to gain the effects of the latter. Research some diet plans. A common theme of this site is "Gains are made in the kitchen" and it is the truth.

Send me a FR and I can talk to you about some of the things I did with diet and training to help break those pesky plateaus.

EDIT: As far as the PCT goes, there is no way to tell exactly what will happen to you while on cycle, during pct and after pct. Everything is very dependent upon the individual. You are still peaking with natty test so why risk hurting it before it starts decreasing? That's one of the reasons why aas is frowned upon before the mid/upper 20s. At the end of the day it is your choice, you are the one that has to live with it.

25 is when I did my first cycle. I ran 50mgs dbol a day and 500mgs test e. Pct was clomid only. I will say after that it was all over. I wish I started years before and I doubt I ever would have torn muscle on back of my should in MMA classes. That was why I ran my first cycle. I went thru a year of physical therapy 4 days a week, pain killers and anti-inflammatories. A year of hell doing what was the so called right way to do it. My shoulder was so bad I would sit down and have to pick it back up. 3 weeks in to my first cycle pain was gone. 5 weeks in my shoulder was healed. By the end of cycle I had regained full motion with no pain. Lifts were stronger then before I was ever injured. Weight jumped 35lbs by the end. Keep in mind before I started my first cycle I was in constant pain, couldn't put any weight on left shoulder, reflection pain killed front delt all the time. I was misearable. By the end I felt new again. 5 years later and still going strong. Doctor even said that he had never seen that kind of tear heal without surgery. So my question is this is illegal why?....

I started my first cycle when I was 18. I ran Mdrol for 4 weeks with a good pct, gained 15lbs and kept 10lbs by the end of my PCT. My blood work was on point after. I was stupid and ran another PH cycle when I turned 19. I bridged mdrol and epi strong which gave me amazing incredible strength and size gains. I gained 20lbs but didn't have enough money for a strong pct. I only ran HCgenerate for 4 weeks. I kept about 10lbs but developed gyno in my right nipple a while after. I'm 20 now and I'm pretty much back to normal but I still have a lump. I certainly wasn't smart and should have had my pct on point before I even thought about starting my cycle and I for sure should have waited till at least now to run anything. Also should have stayed away from PHs knowing what I know now. But we live and we learn..

I did a few M1T cycles while deployed when I was in my younger 20's. They were only 4 week long cycles, but I ended up with excellent strength and size gains. The stuff had some strong sides and liver protection was needed. I had back pumps, sometimes felt lethargic, and it seemed like I lost my hunger at times, so I had to force feed myself to get the protein that was needed. The proper PCT couldn't be found at the time, so I had to use some OTC stuff. Luckily I was young and I bounced back quickly, good thing since that stuff made my nuts the size of raisins. I knew there could be some risks from using it, but my life was in danger and I wanted to be bigger, faster, and stronger than my opponents in the theater of combat.

I was 19. It was a waste of $$.

Steroids too young will fuck you long time... Just educate yourself and weigh up the pro's and con's

Every time some one asks this question, I feel like such a liar because I can't keep my answer straight. I just remembered that someone got me some dbol to try when I was in grad school - so I was 22. I forgot about that until this very moment. I remember that I couldn't get 315 on the bench for more than 1 rep and I was so ashamed about it. Well, the dbol fixed that problem rather quickly but I didn't take any Test with it cuz I didn't know any better and the fucker that gave me the dbol didn't say anything either. Well, that was the beginning and by the time I was finished with grad school I was already on hormone replacement (TRT) because I screwed my body up bad and that is a lifelong problem. There is no fix, no going back. I didn't learn very much at the beginning cause then I remember struggling with 405 on the bench - and I felt like a candy ass wimp. Well, no reason to feel that way - more juice fixed that problem.

By the grace of God, I didn't become sterile. So, my friend juicememore, you're at the height of your own natural testosterone production and you don't want to wait. If you wait you'll end up bigger and stronger. The bigger and stronger u are when u start - the better it gets. It takes a special kind of man to have that much discipline to do what is best. I didn't have it. I wish I did.

But, but, but - that doesn't mean because I made wrong choices that I shouldn't tell young men to make better choices than I did. Cause I screwed up - so now I should sit back and say nothin? That would make me a real piece of "s**t" and I don't want to be that.

i started when i was 20. I'm gunna be 22 soon and I get plenty of heat for it but I know people have my best interest in mind. Nevertheless I'll be on and off steroids for the next good while, knowingly putting my halth at risk.

I started at 20, with supervision and being extremely careful, but not by choice. It definitely is a way of life but in my case it makes me a happy person, and makes me live out my life with a good sense of well-being as opposed to depression brought by over doing pro-hormones at an even younger age.

j223's picture

prohormones also fucked me up when I was young.

vhman's picture

I think people in their teens and early twenties sometimes think that people are being jerks or just trying to exclude them from the roid party, when they say that they are too young and need to wait until 25-30. We'll let me tell you: bingo, you caught us! We want all the juice for ourselves, because we want to be the biggest, baddest, chick magnets at the gym.
The truth is that roids will shut down your natural testosterone production and this shutdown can and will become permanant. I sometimes feel that youngsters think that TRT would be great and fun. Ask anyone who has to take meds just to keep them normal for their rest if their lives how they feel about it.
I took my first roid at 18 and did about three to four cycles. I didn't touch them for 20 years after that. I got back on them because I felt like shit for years and finally went to the doctor and he said my testosterone was 150.
My point in all this is that this is real and the results of taking roids at 20 is usually TRT by 30-35. It's your choice to make, so choose wisely.

When i see and read posts from guys at your age i always tend to just wonder if you will even be visiting gyms when you get to my age lol.... ive seen sooooooo many young guys just come and go, not realising that when you fully embrace this lifestyle you become a slave to food from the minute your eyes open until they close again lol...... so many things have to be shelved like going on holiday with the boyz and getting pissed up every weekend etc,.... pure bodybuilding is the most demanding thing i ever choosen to do, to me now its just like second nature because it is all i know, i have never lived any different ever..... i have neb=ver done it to show off or swagger around looking like a fkn ape, i do it to compete and prove to myself i can handle the totally demanding, military style planning it creates every single day. it takes years of dedication to master steroid use, and self experimentation is key to constant improvements.

At 20yrs old i would suggest you become a nutritional expert first.... to get the best out of any compound used............. you asked for a story bro, i hope this helps you some ok.

vhman's picture

This isn't necessarily directed towards you. This question is asked all the time and is a response to the question in general.
You are going to do what you want. Also your analogy of smoking is not the same. Smoking won't shut down your natural hormone production for the rest of your life. I just hope you realize that there are long term and serious consequences to taking roids at 20. I hope you take them into consideration and think long and hard about this decision. Best of luck.
