Is this normal?

ad

I started my first cycle of test e and anavar almost 6 weeks ago now. My strength went up quickly from the anavar (gained 10kg on bench and military press and 20 on squat) after about 3 weeks. Since then though my strength has stalled and not gone up at all. I've seen some side effects from the test (smaller balls, a little bit of acne) and some of the size effects (my shoulders have gotten quite a bit bigger) so I'd guess its not bunk. I've primarily been training for strength, and I'm sure its not an issue of not knowing how to train since I'd gotten good strength naturally. Its worth noting my natural test was in the 300s before starting so I'd have expected to feel the test quicker than most people on cycle.

So has anyone else had this issue of just not gaining strength off of test e?
Or does it take even longer than 6 weeks for some people to gain strength?

I didn't really want to run something as strong (or liver toxic) as halo on my first cycle. Also didn't run drol for this reason. I'm getting alot of calories, over 4000 a day. DIet is good with 300+g of protein a day, a few cheat meals, but as I said I'm not bothered about leaning out and just trying to gain right now. Rest is good, always get 8+ hours.

maybe you need to start getting around 6K cal a day believe it or not.. the bigger you get the bigger you goto eat, i like potatoes and steak 1hr before training... try to implement more red meat into your diet.. it worked for me also a protein shake in the middle of the night i hope this helps

Yeah thanks man, I've started upping the calories, and I'm taking a few days off from training since I think I've overtrained. Hopefully I'll start to see better gains soon.

Ok I really don't know where to start.. First of all if you want something to kick in quick drop the anvar and run test prop 1-5 weeks as your kick start till your longer ester test kicks in.. What was your reasoning for running anvar?

Pretty much everyone at my gym who ran anavar said they got great strength off of it and as I'd said I'm training more for that than towards bodybuilding. And I know Test E takes a while to kick in, but I'd thought by week 6 it might have started to work.

The only thing I can think of (assuming the test is legit obviously) is that I might be overtraining slightly. Naturally I was benching twice a week (with overhead pressing on one of the bench days) and squatting twice a week(with back work done on one of the squat days and doing well off of that. On cycle, I've upped it to 3x squatting 2x bench and a separate overhead press day. I'd figured that the increased recovery on cycle would allow me to do this, but I'm going to drop back to the off cycle training schedule and see if that helps.

Why are newbies so in love with var? Smh...

You said you did gain strength from your cycle. What do you think was going to happen? Do you think that it will just keep going up and up, at the same rate as it did at first?

You need to post some stats in your profile and here as well, so we know what we're dealing with. What are you taking for an AI?

I've gained some strength from the anavar so far, I assumed once the test had kicked in, strength would go up more, since most on here and other forums say var is fairly weak compared to test. Everyone else I train with in the gym have gained 30kg+ on their bench on their first cycle, and over 40kg on their squat, but some have gotten even more than this. Also for me the 10kg gain on the bench isn't that much, I'd gained about 7.5kg in the three months before I started.

As for stats, I'm 6'5, 118kg and body fat is the high teens. For the AI I've been using Arimidex. I've been altering the dosage based on how I feel. At first it was 0.25mg a day but I felt my joints a bit sore so I cut back to eod. Recently I've went back to ed as I felt the pre-existing gyno I had was getting a little bigger, its since gotten smaller on this 0.25mg ed dose and my joints aren't too sore now.

It's kind of hard to say exactly why you haven't kept gaining strength, but just because someone else gained X amount, doesn't mean you will. You are a super tall guy, which will limit how much you can bench, squat, press, etc. You're genetics and your anabolic potential play a huge role as well.
I asked about your AI, because your E2 levels can affect your strength as well (along with other things). Have you done any blood tests?

Only the one before my cycle. My test was 12.4 in the UK measurement system, which translates to roughly 350 in the US one. Estrogen was <90 and wasn't more specific than that. Everything else was more or less in range, SHBG was 17 which was quite low and prolactin was high. I'm going to get a blood test done next tuesday at a needle exchange clinic which only tests for test and estrogen. The only problem though is that test maxes out at 50, so if my test was underdosed it might be difficult to tell as 500mg/week should be significantly above 50.

Glad you're getting bloods done. Keep us posted on the results.
I am on a lower dose of test (300 mg a week) and my strength gains are slow, but steady. I feel that when you're gains are slow and steady, they usually stay. When you blow up in a month, it's usually gone. Be patient with your cycle.

Yeah, I've read people on other forums say it takes until week 8 to feel anything from test e so I'm hoping that's the case for me as well.
