+ 9 Almost a year back at the gym...
I'm almost a full year back at the gym. I'm feeling really good. I've had a complete change of lifestyle. In the last week or two, I've had at least 4 or 5 people at my gym come up to me and comment on my loss of fat, or something akin to that. My strength is growing back, as is my confidence.
Not to get too personal, but I was divorced, obese, & alcoholic - which is not really cool. I stopped drinking almost 18 months ago now. I started back into the gym in April, and started T in October. You can see a few steep declines in body fat composition in the months after that.
I just wanted to share my progress. I wanted to get on testosterone for the fat loss, in addition to some of the anabolic effects. I'll post some journal articles about it later. I have no regrets about jumping on AAS. And the compounds I do, I feel aren't very high nor aggressive, i.e. var, NPP, & T. I really don't want to jump onto anything else - I'm happy with the effects I'm getting, and my health seems to be in good order.
Here's some fun reading:
"Effects of testosterone treatment on body fat and lean mass in obese men on a hypocaloric diet: a randomised controlled trial"
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5054608/
tl;dr: "While dieting men receiving placebo lost both fat and lean mass, the weight loss with testosterone treatment was almost exclusively due to loss of body fat."
"Oral anabolic steroid treatment, but not parenteral androgen treatment, decreases abdominal fat in obese, older men"
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/8574271/
tl;dr: "Oral oxandrolone decreased SQ abdominal fat more than TE or weight loss alone and also tended to produce favorable changes in visceral fat."

Tough to quit the booze, you’ve done well and should be proud of yourself. A mate of mine has been through a similar journey. He says he’s still an addict, he’s just replaced the bottle with the gym.
Quitting booze is hard. I think because it's legal and socially acceptable to drink. One can't causally tell others that they want to smoke some crack or something like that, but if I tell someone I'm going to have a beer, no one bats an eye.
I feel I replaced the bottle with the gym. When I gym, I don't want to drink. When I drink, I don't want to gym.
That’s exactly how my friend is. He still goes to AA meetings, but hasn’t touched it for about 4 years now.
Good work mate.
Looks like you are really hitting your stride and are dialed in man. Great job brother!
That's good progress man. It takes a lot of work. A lot want a fast transformation over night but it can take years to get to your goal. I've been in the dumps but I use it as motivation to strive for the better for ME. Be selfish with it because at the end of the day it's about how you feel. Keep it up.
Thank you! Yes, I've been learning I need to be selfish and take care of me first. After that, I can help others, but I need to help myself first. It's amazing the mental health boost the gym gives me.
100% the boost lifting gives is addictive. Any training for me is a boost. Especially lifting then hitting the heavy bag. Throwing middle kicks pretending I'm smashing ribs lol. Yep I'm at peace afterwards.
Been there, done that bro. Keep up the good work. Got rid of the ex-wife and the bottle years ago. Met my soulmate and never look back.
I'm hoping I can meet a soul mate lol. I've tried dating, but I don't feel that romantic connection with anyone. I suppose it will happen in due time.
I don't envy you dude. The dating scene is a nightmare right now with this anti-masculinity feminist sentiment running rampant. I think if I had to split with my Ol' Lady I would become one of the passport bros. I got my fingers crossed for you brotha.
I suppose I didn't think about all of that. I find that these girls I go on dates with seem very flaky. It seems like we mesh well, then I get ghosted. It feels like I'm cursed or something.
I'll match with some on the dating apps, but holding a conversation with them that ultimately ends up with a date is very few. And it seems damn near impossible to get a lunch or dinner date. It seems everyone is very busy, which I always figured was an excuse because people don't want to make time. I have a few arrangements that work out for me, but actually romantically dating is difficult. It requires a lot of effort, and most of the time it doesn't feel reciprocated.
My info is anecdotal but from what I've heard the vast majority are only interested in what you can provide to them and refuse to even acknowledge the idea of reciprocation or a 50/50 loving partnership. It's from the rise of Instagram and OnlyFans. Any halfway decent looking brawd can make a decent living finger fucking themselves on the internet. If they meet a dude at all it's so they can become a sugar baby. The saying "I don't need a man" amongst young women these days is basically become a credo.
I'm curious how easy or difficult it is to make a good living on OF and the like. Yes, some girls do extremely well, but it's more than just looks I feel. There's a personality to it and marketing. And it is some work having to do it. Some girls also just don't want to pose nude for the world. Hopefully I can find a decent girl. I fucked off my marriage because of alcohol. My ex-wife is a really great girl - we'll never be back together though :(
Hey man, the fact that you have the introspective capacity to see your own faults and flaws means you are a good person and capable of being even better. The majority of people would rather blame their environment or their upbringing etc. Personal accountability and self reflection is key. I had anger issues myself and nearly lost my family for my trouble. Everything will be as it should be.
FR accepted
That's great brother walking the road again, and remember it's a marathon not a spring us some of older fucks believed (including me lol) consistency is the key!!
I've finally started to understand this lol. Gyming isn't too hard, but the trick is going regularly! Doing at least a little something everyday is the key. The gym is now part of my daily routine.
Yes sir keep at it!!
Well done big bro I hope it just gets better and better .
RustyhookerStay focused. You got this! Keep it fun and the rest is worth it
