Low dose metformin while running gh
A couple of years back I ran 2-3 it’s of hgh for around 9 months to a year. A couple of months after coming off I started having an issue with my blood sugar
dropping really low, once it was 22 and it was common for it to drop to the low 30’s almost daily and at about the same time every day. This condition came on gradually and at about six months after it started was happening almost daily and then tapered off to where it would happen less frequently and finally just stopped about a year ago. I eventually told my pcp about it because I am getting ready to run an anti-aging dose of gh again and although he is pretty cool for a doctor he is still by the book so he told me if I am determined to run the gh again I should look into studies involving metformin use while using hgh to combat insulin resistance. I asked for details and being by the book he would only recommend I not run it at all but research what he told me to and when I asked for a prescription for metformin he gave me a blunt NO!
I found some studies but being a semiretarded person I couldn’t understand most of what I read and even the dosages used in the study were of no benefit to me because it was listed as X amount per kilogram of body on all the subjects.
Has anyone ran into the insulin resistance after running gh or have any knowledge of the metformin/gh protocol, Or have another remedy for dealing with that particular side effect? I do labs on Everything and my igf was in the 300’s for most of my last run and sometimes over 400 and never lower than 290 the entire time I was on it. I am going to run a lower dose this time and will pull my first labs after 3 weeks and try to stay around the 200-220 range. I have baseline blood work from December and last month 114 and 98 and may only run it for 6-8 months this go round but still worry a little about the insulin resistance recurring because that shit was scary, especially when it was happening daily. Thank you all for your help and feedback and STAY STRONG

With 2-3 IU you shouldn't run into any insulin resistance. What you were experiencing was not insulin resistance though. When you are insulin resistant your blood glucuse levels are elevated. What you were experiencing was hypoglycemia. Low blood glucose levels, quite the opposite of what GH would do. The last thing you want to do is use metformin which will lower your blood glucose levels even more. You have something else going on unrelated to GH so I would discuss it further with your doctor.
Okay thank you, I am now wondering if he was not telling me that in hopes that I would find something to discourage me from running the gh all together while researching the metformin gh interaction study stuff, or if he is just mistaken on the information that he gave me. Which is quite alarming because I trust him to either give me solid advice or tell me to see a different doctor or specialist. Thank you for your feedback.
You need to get a new doc asap. Blood glucose below 40 is very dangerous and can even be fatal. If you were consistently below that they should have been running a battery of tests to figure out what is wrong. You are lucky to still be alive.
I am seeing a new one Monday. My wife is a diabetic so I am able to check my levels often and it has been normal for a while now. Thank you for your feedback and taking the time to respond and mostly for your concern.
