Thoughts on lactose?

ad

One thing I enjoy adding to protein shakes is powdered milk or sometimes 50%/50% real milk and water. One thing about milk in general is the lactose or the sugar in milk. Maybe I'm overdoing it on the powdered milk. I get maybe 46g of dry milk per day has 24g of lactose (this is 2 servings per day) - is this insanely high or is just me??! Half of this by mass is fucking sugar??!

Should I reduce the amount of milk I'm wondering? Because of the lactose? I'm not intolerant, but I tend to veer on the side of thinking that sugar like poison. At least fast, quick sugars... Anyway, thoughts?

Sounds like my idea of Hell that - I'm lactose intolerant.

I'm no lactose intolerant but I like the fair life milk, the only kind I drink. 6g of sugar per serving.

I'm familiar with fair life. Forgot about the extra protein. I'll give them another try!

Yessir that fairlife. Good ole fashioned protein!

That is what I drink also, but just due to the fact it has 2x the amount of protein.

You mentioned it, tried it. Great stuff, mixes great with powders, just can't get past the extra price. But if the price off sets the protein gain, then maybe I'll rethink it.

Wally World always seems to have it on sale. I fill the cart up. Chocolate is one of my favorite post workout drinks.

Ol' wally world seems to have the best prices for me. Or if a store has a sale I'll buy in bulk.

I really like goat milk. Do you get that on your farm?

I actually have a few LaMancha (dairy) goats that could be milked daily, especially now since they all have babies atm. But it's a time consuming process and takes some patience. I'm so busy with work, etc just don't have the time to really capitalize and utilize the resource. But yeah it's very rich milk for sure. I'll post one of my fav girls in that breed later....
There she is….that’s Harley.

Same, the protein is the seller for me. Use it for my shakes to get that little extra umph

If the lactose doesn't bother you then not a big deal.

I'm happy enough not to be lactose intolerant, but my gf is and I'm buying her a lactase ensyme and other digestive agents to help her with this. It helps with bloat as well as farts. Consider milk from oats or nuts as an alternative, these are tasty and healthy Smile

I like using cashew or almond milk for my protein shakes. Thin like water and doesnt bloat like milk. Easy on gas.

I never thought about that. Wife started picking it up for her and i started using hers lol and now she just buys enough. I watched how its actually made though. Interesting.

Hmm if you add carb with your Shake, best source is dextrin or vitargo but personnaly i use Cream of rice.
You can use milk but the digestion is not optimal (we are all different but generally), i prefer use allons milk for taste. Decrease the quantity of milk for inflammation and quality of skin.
