Eli Lily refill cartridges

ad

Hoping a math guy chimes in on this, because I'm dumbfounded at the moment. Here's the situation: Over the last few months I've purchased a variety of Eli Lily humatrope...I've got the refill cartridge boxes in 18iu, 36iu, and 72iu. Each of these packs contain the exact same amount of bac water (3.15 ml) to be mixed with the powder ...the only difference being the mg weight of gh powder in each differing cartridge. So basically from my logic, I'll have the same amount of "liquid", or volume in each cartridge after I reconstitute each of them. How will I draw 2iu of each on a insulin syringe? Wouldn't the 72iu cartridge be 4X as concentrated as the 18iu cartridge?

So hyptohetically...if I'm looking at pulling 2iu of the 36iu cartridge, once it's empty and I move on to the 72iu cartridge, would I pull half as much? .20ml on a slin pen will turn into .10ml when pulling from the 72iu cartridge? I'm thinking this is so, but wanted to see what others might think

Your going on the right direction. Divide the total number of iu by the volume and this will give you the iu per 1ml ex: 72iu/3.15ml=22.857 iu/ml. Each slin pin is 1 ml and since there's typically 100 notches/marks on each slin pin that will give you .22857 iu per notch, or 2.2857 iu for every ten mark. Does that make sense?

Yes, perfect sense. Thanks for the info. I've been doing more than I thought over the last month. I was pulling .20ml out of a 36iu cartridge thinking it was 2iu, but it's actually 2.28iu. I trusted poor advice. Been feeling great, though!
