+ 1 DOMS
ad
I’ve been working out steady for many years, but recently after working out my chest I have been sore for 4-5 days after. Not just the regular soreness but extremely sore.
I’ve always lifted on the heavier side but since this onset of soreness Ive changed things up in the last month and started lifting lighter with higher reps. This isn’t seeming to help either.
I’m kinda lost as to what to do.
Yes, ya only when working out my chest. I can still feel sore in other areas as the normal soreness of intense workouts but no matter the weight or the intensity, I stay sore for long time. Almost unbearable to the touch.
Any ideas of why?
How to prevent?

thePhoenixI'm glad you got your blood work done. That was going to be my first question, that urologist will get you back on track. Kudos brotha
Thank you man. So the prognosis is super low test so the solution was testopellets. Not sure who is aware of these but instead of try with shots it’s inserted and then checked at the 1 month and 3 month mark alto see if it need to be increases or decreased and such. Had them put in on Monday and today is Friday and my ass cheek looks like it took a line drive with a softball. Fucking ridiculous aggravation. If this shit doesn’t make me feel like Superman then it’s not worth it and I’m opting to go back to the shots weekly. I use my body for work and it’s hindered me all damn week. And it takes 3 weeks to reach its peak.
Haha I hated pellets... Only tried them one time. Hopefully all goes well for you brother some people love them hopefully they help you out
Funny you post this.
I, this week, had to drop doing super and monster sets
My body, quite literally, gave up. Pain, not DOMS, but crippling joint pain as a constant.
I had changed up plenty as I periodise everything, but the volume per workout at high intensity became a serious issue.
Immediately after taking a few days rest and moving down a notch, the issue is close to being fully resolved. Need a few tweaks though.
Try lowering the intensity, take a break, lower volume but do what you do with extreme intent. Get more sleep. Hydrate and fee the muscle properly.
Getting old... it sucks.
You have any before and after pics?
Overlay of muscle fibers causing growth could be culprit. What's your macros and foods your eating?
Anything new in your daily routine lately, like change in diet, taking any new meds, etc.?
Living4ThePumpIf you switched your training style like you said from heavy to lighter and more reps, then thats something new for your body and muscles. Everytime your body gets exposed to a new stimulus it will react on a new way. Soreness is oftentimes this new reaction to a new stimulus but also a reaction if one did too much.
Also when switching to higher reps you're most likely doing more total volume than before, so make sure you're not overdoing it because like I said that could lead to extreme soreness too.
Just wait out a couple more weeks, if the soreness is just a reaction to the new training style it should settle down as your body gets used to it. If it persists, you're probably doing too much and scaling back would be a reasonable approach.
Yep, now targeting the other type of muscle fibers more with switch in routine. Going to take a bit for them to get used to the new type of lifting.
I believe that he is implying that he switched because he was sore and that had no effect on soreness. Not that he change his lifting style and has since become more sore
RustyhookerBloods tested lately?
Just left the urologist and my blood work came back.
I found my problem!
My doctor had stopped my trt before Christmas and it took 9 weeks to se the specialist(which was today)
I did blood work twice in the last two weeks. My total test came back at 59 and then 60. He will be implanting testopellets in 2 weeks to stabilize me.
The lesson learned for me and for others reading.
Don’t go to a general doctor, go see a urologist and let him know about your past recreational use as far back as high school if valid. Things that worked in your 20s and 30s don’t get the job done in your 40s. According to him, at these levels, no matter how I train, how clean my diet is, or how much I think I know or learned along the way would’ve helped me get over this hump and back to feeling young and strong again. By going on the pellets I will have a consistent test level at the minimum and once stabilized I can work from there to bigger and better things.
If your in your 40s and youbfind yourself depleted after simple workouts. If at the end of your day your body is shit. If you libido if up and down and your moods are too. GO FET BLOOD WORK AND GET YOURSELF CORRECTED!!
