Veterans arrested in NYC Vietnam Memorial

ad

I watched a youtube video of veterans peacefully assembling at the Vietnam Memorial in NEw York City. They were there to protest the attrocities committed by the U.S. government during Vietnam, to address the astronomical rate of suicide amongst reterning current Vets, to call an end to the war in Afghanistan, to exercise their fisrt amendement right to assemble and free speech and to read the names of the deceased veterans.

Standing by were approximately 25 NYPD officers who, for the most part, stood cold faced watching with tension in their bodies as if they were ready to shoot at a moments notice a group of hardened criminals; keep in mind most of the vets were in their 60's 70's & 80's. As i watched i was ashamed of the lack of respect these cops had for these honorable veterans. i had this chiiling feeling that the cops felt that they were more powerful than the vets and seriously lacked any respect, or regard. i felt as if they looked on with indifference and to my dismay soon enough the police began handcuffing and arresting the veterans.

Im not sure how a supposed police officer can feel good about himself for arresting a peaceful protestor, no less a veteran, who fought in combat for our country but how do they respect themselves and how do they expect the American people to respect them!
It seems Police target Veterans, especially the younger ones, in an attempt to exercise some kind of superiority. i am amzaed that a person who went to a police academy (a school) possibly NEVER shot a gun other than target practice, has never seen the horrors of combat, or been through such intense training as a soldier, could feel that they are superior in ANY way.

I dont know what has happened to the Police but they have turned into a bunch of disrespectful thugs!
