The death of circle part 2
Circle Internet Financial, once one of the best-funded early bitcoin startups, has announced it will no longer allow customers to buy and sell the digital currency.
Confirmed today via an announcement in The Wall Street Journal and first revealed last night in a customer update, Circle said it will now focus on using a soon-to-be-launched proprietary blockchain-based protocol called Spark.
"We are still using bitcoin. We still trade in it, and use it to support the global consumer payment service we're offering. We're just no longer supporting the buying and selling of it as an exchange product,"
Users can still convert bitcoins stored via the service to dollars, pounds or euros and continue sending money via social messaging, without fees. But notably, users will no longer be able to send money to other bitcoin addresses.
As part of this launch, we are also eliminating the ability for customers to buy and sell bitcoin directly on Circle, and introducing a new preferred bitcoin exchange partnership with Coinbase.

Not to thread jack, but does anyone know of an online exchange in the USA that sells bitcoin and accepts cash deposit at a sellers bank instead of bank transfer or debit purchase?
search decentralized peer to peer bitcoin exchange. There is a lot of them. Anonymous and fast. Don't mess with coinbase or anything you have to use an ID for.
Solis coinbase just as fast? I loved being able to send money/btc from circle to my private electrum wallet and then to wherever it needed to go. While process took an hour.
Damn it was so easy and convenient now I'm gonna have to learn this btc shit the hard way
I just tried out the company circle is referring their users to now and it was just as easy. Only part I didn't like was having to upload ID to increase initial limit on debit card, but wasn't a deal breaker for me.
That's the route I'm taking. I've checked several options and this makes the most sense for me.
That ID was what I was missing my limit went to 2k over night much appreciated bro for suggesting that
Pounds23Twister ur gunna have to walk me through btc I basically got it I just opened my account at the bank so once I download coinbase I watched the YouTube video I just don't wanna get lost hooking it up to the account
No problem, glad it worked for you. I put money in and made a payment last night, worked smooth.
I used atm's and they're pretty quick and convenient too. Check them out.
Sucks, but there's several other BC options. BC payment method will go on.
Noted but none as convienent imo and starting out with limits on some available is not so great either.. thanks
There's the summary I made from several sources ... don't mention other forms of payment beside bitcoin as it's not allowed
Also included links for guys who want to read more information.
Any additional info or bitcoin related info including alternatives is welcom to this discussion thanks guys for participating stupid circle took this direction.
Meh, I cashed out, it was fun while it lasted. Tripled my money too.
Hahaha yeah it did shoot up a lot this year wish I'd had invested little myself.
Monero is slowly starting to become a big player. It's not a block chain based cryptocurrency so it's more secure. Only thing that sucks is that they require bitcoin to purchase it as of right now while I assume will be changing soon. It's cheap too so I think it's only $10 each. Most darknet black markets are evolving to using it. I've been thinking about investing but want to see what happens with it first
that's interesting might have to do some research and by some of those bad boys I wish I'd a got a bunch of bit coins years ago when I first heard about em
Yea me too. I first heard about them 6 years ago when they were just a couple of bucks a piece.
I hear ya. I see that a few years (Jan 2013) ago bitcoins were around $13.87 a piece. It did go up to around $1100 a piece in (Nov 2013) and is at $769 now. So basically if you in invested $100 when it came out, it would be worth about $5540.00 now.
I use Coinbase and that's where I got this info.
