Any of you guys have this too? i just got diagnosed with severe sleep apnea, i have 48 episodes an hour where i wake up or gasp for air according to my sleep study... my sleep is horrible, i sleep an hour at a time every night , i am bascially up all night long, it sucks so bad, i dread going to sleep at night!! its pretty common for guys with thick necks.. i am in the process of getting a cpap machine, anyone use this thing and how is it?

AnonI suffer from Sleep Paralysis often and I have trouble getting to sleep. Once Im asleep I am out like a log but actually getting to sleep lately I have had to use sleeping pills.
I know a few people who have to sleep with the darth vader mask. Oh yeah, it's totally badass. You'll be glad you have sleep apnea once you get to see the badass mask.

Sleep apnea is one of the things they are checking for on DOT physicals when they finally get around to doing the new rules. Neck size and weight are supposed to be two of the factors they will use to determine if needing tested. Don't have any issues myself, but a couple friends who still drive OTR have them and say the difference is night and day on how they feel... used to be 10hrs and still tired, now its 6-7hrs and wide awake, rested and ready to go.

Right now its still fairly subjective in getting the physical, unless there is a reason for it, they are not going to disqualify/test for it (basically on the Q&A you have to list it for it to cause problems) however, what was originally proposed was neck circumference of 17" or larger and a BMI (based on weight/height only) of 30% or greater and you were automatically DQ'd until you went and had testing done... basically the Dr's doing the requirements tried to make it where just about everyone would have to go pay for their "sleep study"... fortunately, it got pulled back, but dont rule out it popping up again in the next few years when they revisit the requirements for a DOT phys again... Nanny state, here we come!!
1jakd_hipyHave it, they removed my tonsils(which is ducking miserable by the way) it seemed to work for a while but it's back. Getting a sleep study done through the army was a pain the ass so I just suck down OTC sleeping pills every night which helps but leaves me groggy as fuck in the morning
i went to a nose doctor and he got me set up with a at home sleep study... its horrible when u cant sleep
AnonHumpandpump just mentioned this to me last week. Where did you get diagnosed ? Sleep center or reg Dr ? Id like to look in to it because my sleep is awfull
