Pilots liscense
ad
Does anyone know what it takes to get a Pilots liscense? I'm in the very early stages of looking into it. Is it time consuming? Is it expensive? Basically does anyone have any first hand knowledge? I don't think at this point that I want to be a commercial pilot. I'm thinking of starting it as a hobby and seeing IF it can lead elsewhere( if it's cost effective to make it a hobby).

Your looking @ $125-135 per hour for rental. That would just be a Cessna 150-172. Also your ground speed would only be 90mpg. Your looking a 40 hours of flying, I think it's 20 hours of ground school. Total cost $7-8k that's if you don't need anymore than the 40hrs of flying time. You must also pass a medical exam from a certified doctor. So if you want it as a hobby after you spend 7-8k it's going to be at least $150 an hour that's with fuel plus you'll need insurance which is fairly cheep $500-700 a year. Pilotmob I mean Pmob ;-) let me know if you need a better break down or more info ??
You can multiply that by about three in the UK.
Awesome! That's a little more info than I expected to get here to be honest. This is def close to the price range of what I've found around my town. Unfortunately the flight school close by just shut down so I'm going to have to drive a bit further but I think it's something I want to get into. Thanks Pilotmob, I mean Pmob. I'm gonna FR and send some more questions your way when I get some free time.

And to think I used to pride myself in spelling back in school. I guess I really have let myself go! Lol
