+ 1 Music to work out to
ad
I once read that heavy metal music is best to work out with
Curious as to what your favorite artist or band that you like to workout with
My fav is Megadeth, seen them in concert many times & find Dave Mustaine’s musics gets me to a level to push past the burn
Thanks

I find 90's rap does it for me with a bit of metal every now and then. I just switched from Spotify to Tidal, and it is WAYYYYYY better for discovering new music and making mixes.
Interesting take, brother man .., and I totally get the heavy-metal angle. That raw aggression definitely helps a lot of guys push through brutal sets.
For me though, training is more about connection, focus, and flow than rage. Lifting is therapy. It’s my moment of presence, clarity, and self-control. When I’m calm, locked in, and breathing right, I perform better, stay consistent, and actually enjoy the process more.
That’s why I mostly train to classical, cinematic, and instrumental music. No lyrics, no distractions … just rhythm, breathing, and mind-muscle connection. It puts me in a deep zone where everything feels controlled, intentional, and powerful.
Some of my go-to artists:
Hans Zimmer, Ludovico Einaudi, Max Richter, Two Steps From Hell, Audiomachine, Thomas Bergersen, Ólafur Arnalds, Nils Frahm, Clint Mansell, Hania Rani, Ramin Djawadi, Jo Blankenburg, Secession Studios, Really Slow Motion, Epic Score, Zack Hemsey, Marcus Warner, Veigar Margeirsson.
Sounds counter-intuitive, but for heavy compounds, slow negatives, brutal leg days, and deep focus sessions… this stuff hits different. Calm mind, violent intent.
If I had to pick tracks, it’s mostly epic classical … music that makes you feel like you’re marching into war or building an empire:
Wagner – Ride of the Valkyries
Verdi – Grand March
Orff – O Fortuna
Tchaikovsky – Trepak
Khachaturian – Sabre Dance
Beethoven – 7th & 9th
Vivaldi – Summer & Winter
No lyrics, no noise … just raw emotion, intensity, and momentum. Perfect for training, deep focus, and that conquer mode.
That’s just my style though. End of the day, whatever puts you in the zone and makes you train harder + smarter is the right music IMHO.
Pantera, seether, three days grace, breaking Benjamin, midways just to name a few…
Pantera were waaaayy ahead of their time, was hugely into them - paved the way for many metalcore bands. Three Days Grace have done some awesome tracks too.
If you like Slam metal been listening to
-Peeling Flesh
-Boltcutter
-4 wheel drive
-Analepsy
The Browning
They are gym music. Soild.
End of Existence!
Wake up and poison are amazing!
I like really fast pace hardcore music when I’m lifting. As I lay dying is one of my favorites. I been listening to a lot of Darkest hour too lately. They get me pumped up.
Im wondering where you read that at? Whats your source? If it was a heavy metal magazine im saying biased, or you just make that up? Lol
Dirtyred2Nah bro I actually read it on a muscle mag
They claimed to have done a blind study & found that those who lifted to heavy metal music were found to have had better results
I get in tge zone with some real heavy music. Plays into my anabolic rage.
Joan bayez, Doris day, etc
When im working the big 3 l want some heavy ass shit. Darko us type. When doing acccesories give me a blend of rock, metal, and rap.
My Favourite bands when I use to train to music were Killswitch Engage, 5FDP and Stone Sour/Slipknot.
I think I've become old now though as those years of wanting to get amped up and adrenaline peaked to music are long gone, I prefer lifting in silence and peace now LOL
If you like metalcore like killswitch check out early as I lay dying. Their first albums like frail words collapse and shadows are security were fire.
I actually bought a few of their Albums mate many years ago - but the band didn't end up sticking with me as much as those others. Now one band that did who I am sure you know are 'All that Remains'!!!!! And I hear this calling!!! Yeaaaahhh
Hell ya, All that remains is a sick band. The fall of ideals was peak metalcore in the mid 2000s. Such a great time for music
I’m not really into AILDs new stuff. But try listening to through struggle, darkest nights and meaning in tragedy. That’s from their 2nd album from back in like 06. Their first album from 03 is my favorite, listen to the songs falling upon deaf ears, elegy, forever, and 94 hours. You’ve probably heard about what happened to their lead singer back in 2014, went to jail for a murder for hire plot against his ex wife. But even before that he started running gear and I think that’s what ruined his voice. He hasn’t really sounded good since like 2012. Early to late 2000s was his prime.
Important Question mate - Howard or Jessie?
Our friendship depends on this LMAO ......
Jesse all day. But I will say when he left and Howard joined it was one of the very few times a band lost their original vocalist and the replacement actually did a really good job and it wasn’t all down hill. Howard really brought them to new heights and he’s a great vocalist. But I feel that he brought them more into the mainstream. There isn’t much Mainstream I’m into. But I do like a lot of Howard’s songs. But I liked what they were with Jesse before, and since he returned.
You put forward a good argument lol I loved ALL of their music when Howard was with them, the songs were just so much better - Guitars & the Melodies just had so much more depth and quality. Funny thing is though is Alive or Just Breathing I thought was incredible the first time I ever heard it, its what got me into the band in a big way. Jeese's singing worked well on that album, but then everything after with Howard was just 5 times better for me. When Jesse returned along with his White man screaming it just ruined it for me, not been keen on any of the albums since. But yeah, when I heard KSE were hiring a black singer I thought WTF??? How the HELL is that ever going to sound right!!!! But it did in a HUGE way. Such as shame he's gone
I tell ya something else I never realised either which sounds really bad lol I always just assumed that KSE kicked Howard out of the band because Jesse decided to come back - but in reality it was Howard who left them due to Type 2 Diabeties and Mental health issues.
@irongame427
