music during workout

ad

Hey folks. Like the title says, what kind of music do you guys prefer while you're at gym. My favorite is heavy metal like metallica, sodom, motörhead, megadeath, system of a down..... sometimes kind of harder techno.

Leo Moracchioli
This guy from norway is the king of "happy metal"
He covers the trashiest bullshit songs in heavy metal versions.

Ha ha ha....steel panther! We listen to that at the tattoo parlor

Pale's picture

They are pretty cool live if you ever get a chance to catch them. The best show I saw last year, TBH.

2 live crew!

Pale's picture

Damn you guys in the UK and Europe are getting the first crack at seeing the re-formed COC. Lucky bastards! COC is one of but a few bands that I still listen to regularly. It is like I have a huge collection of music but these guys dominate my actual plays.

Not for working out in the gym but simply the most beautiful and powerful song ever written/recorded.

Pale's picture

Damn, you know I don't believe I have ever heard that. I wasn't aware that mountain had such a prog sound.. Thanks for sharing that one, I'm going to have to dig a little deeper now.

MONK's picture

Hate to admit it on a forum full of alphas but damn that song hits me hard.

Pale's picture

This is also far from alpha but one of the most amazing live performances you will find on you tube.

Actually the whole Secret World concert is up on you tube, put it on the big screen and crank it up.

NoWeakAces's picture

Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, Genesis... Only when I'm working arms, and only in my headphones. Can't plug that into the gym speakers, people would talk...

Pale's picture

Fuck em! I am into music and like several genres, if it is great there is no denying it. Peter Gabriel never caved in either, he made his music what he wanted it to be. I have great respect for him.

NoWeakAces's picture

Lol, I hear ya. I normally choose what we pipe into the gym speakers, so I have to be mindful of who's there at what times. Hard to play anything but classic rock for the 7:30am-9:30am crowd. Midday is meathead time and most prefer old school hip-hop. Afternoon through the evening is pretty flexible, but I can generally pump up Disturbed, Audio Slave, Metallica, Rage, Etc..

Pale's picture

I would love to be the gym DJ! Our gym in the morning is straight up geriatric land, I would have to play some Glen Miller Orchestra or Perry Cuomo, lol. The rest of the day it would probably lead to a lot of arguing. I can only play popular shit so long before I would start trying to open peoples minds and cause a ruckus. We don't even have a full gym speaker system, only the in the group fit room is it wired for sound.

MONK's picture

Great performance but the tandom two step dancing took the edge of a little Blum 3

Pale's picture

Yea, he does that for every single performance of that song. I think Paula Coles vocal parts in that song are what really set it off for me. None of the other live versions strike me like Secret World..

tattoofreak's picture

Didn't know them before your post. Good stuff, bro.

Pale's picture

Thanks. These three albums I have in constant rotation ,lol. Deliverance, Wiseblood and In the arms of God.

tattoofreak's picture

I'll check them out Smile

Pale's picture

You've probably heard this one before. It was the very first COC song I ever heard way back, lol. I was a fan from then on.

First one I ever heard wasDance of the Dead way back when headbangers ball was the shit. That was before pepper was singing. Never been in the nola but I'll definately check out his bar when I do.

Owes a Review × 1
Pale's picture

Down is ok and you can definitely hear Pepper on guitar as well as his influence on the writing but for me it just does not compare to the energy he ges when combined with COC.

tattoofreak's picture

Nope. Didn't hear it before. But good, too.

Bagman's picture

Pantera the best lifting music of all time hands down nobody even compares! No arguing it!

Ludwig's picture

X2. Seen em live on dimes bday way back. Best concert I ever been to.

Rage against the machine, clutch, a perfect circle and helmet kinda kick latley

Bagman's picture

Clutch bad ass too! "Binge and purge" song so crazy clutch quit playing it at their concerts! Tired of sweeping up the eyeballs I guess lol

cdyrdes's picture

Yeah man clutch is awesome seen em twice, I remember 1st I heard em was on headbanger ball when I was about 13 (a shogun named marcus) been hooked ever since. But as u said above Pantera for me is by far my favorite band of all time and nothing beats it when lifting heavy shit!

Pale's picture

I have completely switched gears and I am now on an Eric Clapton kick. I never really appreciated his music much when I was younger but now listening from one musician to another his works are pretty amazing.

amrita149's picture

and pandora radio "godsmack", "as i lay dying"

Pale's picture

Back on a classic punk kick now. Bad religion, X, Germs, Misfits, Social D. If you have iTunes radio you can just make a classic punk station, they do a pretty good mix.
