joined a pf. help

ad

So, I joined a planet fitness today. It was rough. If there was a sharp object around I prob woulda slit my wrist. Dumbells only go up to 75. No real free weights, just four smith machines. A cambered bar. Even there cardio stock was disapointing. No stair climbers. I walking around the place thinking to myself, nooooooo this can't b it.
My question is, can u do deadlifts, rows and all the other big movement excersizes on a smith machine?

Planet fitness and their philosophies are all part of the liberal, politically correct agenda...this way fat overweight non motivated ppl get to converge and stay that way for so long as they choose so as to keep chowing down on the toxic food that makes the pockets of big execs fat too....meanwhile "no judgement" keeps all the planet fitness members hurled together in the vacuum of the obesity epidemic that has taken hold of America...i hate planet fitness they can stick their lunk thing up their junk ass! i joined before they opened, when it finally opened i walked through it then went immediately to the front desk cancelled my membership and swore under no circumstances would i ever train there...in fact they couldn't even pay me to workout there thats how much the place sucks! imo they promote and support being out of shape...join the other gym there's a reason ppl say "you get what you pay for"

Saw the lunk alarm. What bullshit. So, its a judgement free zone unless ur serious about working out, then its okay to judge those ppl. The noise thing, I'm good with. Never saw how grunting and yelling helps. Weight dropping always pissed me off. If u can't controll the weight, its too heavy for u and u shouldn't have picked it up. My biggest problem with thems is lack of plates. Havent seen pizza day yet.

Was it pizza day?

I am gonna try and pick up equipment on the cheap when i c it in the paper or craigs list. Luckily, pf is month to month and at 10 bucks the ass I'll b able to pick up there will b worth that, it is stocked. Trashy little gyms with good equipment are by far the best. I'm so fucking bummed. There's one other gym in my area but its ridiculously expensive and all the cops around go there. The pure hate they would inspire would get me good workouts but mad dogging them for an hour every day is gonna improve our relations.

If you're stuck with them and have the space , get a nice rack for the house. I'm a dedicated bachelor for at least the next ten years. My dining room is a fairly complete gym, and the spare room houses the rest. I love my old sweat box mom and pop gym, but I'd probably sleep on the couch before I gave my equipment up.
You can get some ok isolation exercises in there. And free pizza on Monday.

I've actually only been once. That was just because I wanted to try out the klunk alarm.

lol sooo...funny story...I have a good selection of gyms in my area but without saying what I do...im in and out a lot and am usually up from like 11am-3am when im home...soo I have a membership to LA and Golds because it depends on where im staying on which ones closer...HOWEVER...I may keyword being may have a membership to PF for cardio and tanning...plus pizza Mondays (just kidding)...I have it because theyre 24hrs and LA and Golds by me are only open til 8pm...I have to say ours wasn't that bad...until recently...we had a squat rack not anymore as of the first of the yr...we have 3 benches but I hear not for much longer...my suggestion would be get another membership if theres a better gym in your area with good hours...if not make the best of what you got...a bad gym is no excuse for not working out at all...

Well you might want to get your money back, planet fitness is going to eliminate all the free weights I believe this year to make room for more cardio equipment. Judgement free zone will now be skinny and muscular people free zone.

That was one of the first gyms that I joined. It was cheap, new and had decent female ratio. I'm not going to say it sucks, but I out grew the environment, got older and realized it's a beginner type gym.
La Fitness - too flashy
Planet - to many kids
24hr fitness- more like club
Ballys- Na I will pass
Mom and pop gym, that used to be called golds. - Sign me up! ;)

Hell yeah my 1st gym was Actually a mom and pop, owned by a good friend of mine, he lost it an a bad bet so I stopped working out, fast forward to my college days and it was Gold's when they started blowing up, then it was Planet fuckness because the wife wanted "no judgements." Now its another mom and pop except they cater to older more "rich" type of clientele but the age group is around 40's and 70's 0.o. Sometimes I go with my friend who has a mom and pop gym where they have the full stones and it is not a gym for cardio or the weak hearted; it's for powerlifters and strength training. I go in there and feel like a little midget compared to these guys. They are truly the epitamy of "lunks" One guys arms are so big it's like fkn tree trunks; no synthol but lots of juice lol.

My old gym just closed. Needed major renovations. I went during off hours to pf and yes there was a shit ton pussy. I just don't have many options at this point. I just couldn't believe they didn't have a single power rack. I put on 405 and buried it for reps. No one said n e thing. Without 100lb weights Im gonna b using every single plate they have on the leg press real soon. I could do pf for 6 months. Hopefully my old gym will open within that time frame.

You can do most exercises on the smith machine. Keep in mind that the bar and weights will be moving along a fixed axis, which means less stabilizer muscles used during the lift.

B52-BODY's picture

you can do rows, bent over rows, squats,etc... I LOVE the smith machine...

only at PF.. I think you can only use 315 on that ...lol...

Short answer? RUN!! If you can get a refund, get it. Pf doesnt want ppl who want to train and grow. They want weekend warriors who dont grunt and sweat, they want ppl who are offended by mass and think a 2000 calorie, 40/30/30 diet is ideal. Lmao, my buddies and I got shown the door. Management said they didnt want ppl like us as members.
