Rear Deltoid Machine - DO you prefer the Horizontal or Vertical Handles?

ad

During my highly gay one sided training regime - I've discovered I love the feeling of the rear delt machine, feels great after some chest pressing when you can feel the shoulder being pulled back in line and de-tensioned from all the front & shoulder pressing. I neglected this area for a long time. My machine has both a horizontal handle and vertical handle - not sure which I prefer the feel of so decided to see which everyone else goes with!

I do em both... I also grab the bars and push with the sides of my hands on the bars also. They really burn your chest out good too when you do flys on em. Perfect for drop sets. And you can just rest your hand on em and leave your palms wide open. Do you have that one where you can do rear delts and flys for chest?

Yeah Buddy!! It doubles as a Pec Dec for flies and also Rear Delt machine. I was doing one sided chest flies on it too and it felt great LOL Took me a while to figure the bastard out though where you adjust the pins above to change it from one machine to the other LMAO

I've tried one sided dumbell presses for chest but its such a balancing act that I gave up in the end. End up looking a right twat in a public gym doing them - weight stack machines or hammer isolateral are my only options atm.

Lol... Yeah they do feel real light compared to free weight flys. Its good variation for a pump day though.
I had that confused scratching my head moment when i first used it myself. LoL..
They really get that crease in the middle of your chest nice though. I do like it for chest.
It can hurt my shoulder doing rear delts though if i sit too low. I like laying on a incline bench doing side lats and facedown for rear. I also lay on the bench on the first click up from flat and do rear delts laying on my side. Nothing hits em better and they feel so good doing that for me. I get the most out of isolating lateral movements doing angles or cables.

I feel my rear delts more engaged with vertical bars on top of horizontal bars with palms basically facing back but “resting” hands on the corner of horizontal and vertical bars.

I do both in the same session/sets. Position change feels good to me in slightly different areas

Position change is key bro! I'm always changing my grip, hand position and shit. Hitting things from different angles is super important with everything I do.

Yep, slightly different sensations

Horizontal big dawg. Can only feel my rear delts palms down. Otherwise I feel like I'm doing reverse fly

Just realised I have a Great idea for the next Pol - better than this even!!! LMAO

I’ve never even gave a thought to ever even trying the vertical grips

I swear press you better not being rocking the rear delt fly machine on that recovering shoulder. I know you….sitting there thinking “well maybe just a few reps on the lightest setting just to get some blood flow in there”….staring at the machines longingly

"just a few reps and I'll wear a condom" - @press1

HAHAHA Well it was considered at one point LMAO

Nahhh mate - can't even hold it out in front of me to flick the bloody windscreen wiper stalk up yet without it hurting and aching

Horizontal for sure, feel it more directly in the rear.

Slightly off topic, but also scoot my ass back a little so I have a slight forward lean with my chest against the pad. Once you find the perfect angle, it really takes the back muscles out of the equation, and also prevents cheat reps as the set gets hard. Pure rear delt annihilation

I do the same but I feel way gay having my bach arched and my ass out there...know what I mean?

press1's picture

I get ya bud!! Is that also so Milky can slide in mid set if he feels like it LMAO

All about the angles every time ....

horizontal I get a better tension that way.

Yeah its a different more precise feeling isn't it - only problem is my shoulder doesn't seem to feel as comfortable as in the vertical option as apparently the horizontal handle causes slight internal rotation of the shoulder which is generally a bad thing. With the vertical I feel a lot more tension in my bicep too. Do you use Puregym/Matrix machines also bud? lol

KevK's picture

I find if I use vertical my back comes into more.
People tend to ovelroad the weights meaning there form goes to fuck. To me this is a isolatiion movement.
I have used both prefer the Matrix one just feels more natraul movement.
