ad

So I have been working out 6 days a week and working out a group of muscles once a day and working out twice a day every other day every other week hope this makes sense... I'm having ALOT OF PAIN in my right shoulder went n had it looked at they r telling me I tore my rotator cuff... I feel as if I'll be cheating myself if I slow down or go down in weight... What should I do so I can keep working out n strengthen my problem...

So I raced motocross for 17 years and have probably had the most injuries of anyone on this page. I’m gonna break this down very easily for you.
13 years old, first real injury tearing my rotator cuff and breaking my shoulder. Had surgery, 6 months later I was nearly back to where I left off.
15 years old broke both legs, surgery and a few months later I was good to go.
This is where things changed, at 16 years old I destroyed my left knee tearing my ACL, MCL, PCL and Meniscus. Never followed through with having surgery or PT because I was young and dumb trying to make a name for myself in the sport. At 25 years old I can’t squat at the gym, leg press is deadly and I struggle to get out of bed every morning. Fast forward to 18years old and I broke my back in 14 places, ribs in 29 places, broke my hip and femur. Went through all my PT and procedures that were needed and I feel like a million dollars.
Long story short and the point of all this was to explain the one time I didn’t listen to my doctor, it has effected my whole life.
If you want to further hurt yourself and not listen, by all means go ahead. I would highly recommend getting stuff taken care of properly and getting back after it In a few months.
I’ve broken every bone in my body other then about 8 bones and the only ones that bother me are the ones that weren’t treated. Tendons, ligaments etc fall in the same boat, get that shit taken care of.

I really can’t express in words how perfect this comment is.

I’ve had a cushy, heavenly live injury-wise compared to this guy. But, similar in the sense that any time I decided to push through the injury I ended up either hurting something else compensating, or worsening the original injury to the point where I MUST stop. At that point it’s too late, and the recovery is twice or three times as long as it would have been if I had stopped moving metal around for a few days.

I HATE not being able to keep pushing and pushing. I have learned that it’s always better to nurse an injury, and keep an eye on anything that is getting irritated and whatnot. I’m out the gym right now, and it’s frustrating as fuck. All because ONE exercise I do fucks with tendons in my right forearm. Now, I could just avoid that excessive, but I’d like to move everything properly more than I want to do that lift. I’m getting kinda old tho.

I know friends that run cycles for injury. I’m sure there’s some pages on that on the site.

To add, cheating yourself is not keeping yourself healthy.
How do you expect to get results if you aren’t 100% mentally, physically and emotionally? Just my 2 cents and you can take it as a grain of salt.

The bodybuilders worst nightmare.. rotator cuff, 8th grade friend of mine had torn his cuff throwing javelin, needless to say it fucked up his entire football career and his strength plummeted, I remember doc throwing him on OC80s after surgery.. wtf I know that was back then but Christ almighty

Definitely get a second opinion by another doc. If in fact it is a torn rotator cuff, follow the prescribed therapy and maintain lower body during the process. Good luck bro!

Man, if it's really bad, then take a break now and take a care of your health first. It's not like "cheat your self", I would say that you will "cheat your self", if you will keep killing your shoulder today

rotator tear. You are going to be out of commission for a while. Do what the physical therapist says after the surgery.

Get your self a rest before you do more damage and take the advice from professionally trained in my opinion.
