Growing a beard

As title says looking to start growing a beard never had much luck always been patchy, been searching online and there are oils and remedies anyone used them? I know Test grows facial hair as i am on my second week on a cycle just wanted to know how true that is and if its worth shaving every day or growing it out is a quicker way?

Beards are all genetics - unfortunately, if you can grow a luxuriant beard - then chances are you will have a lot of body hair to go with it. I can grow a pretty decent beard in a few weeks, it's the body hair that I hate.
Years ago, every year I would grow a beard because the winters used to get very cold where I lived and I always rode my scoot with an open-face helmet...and I also got farkin tired of shaving every day. One year during sem break I grew my beard and it had a lot of salt-n-pepper (dark and grey hair)...a few students told me that it made me look old..VERY old...so that was the last time I grew a beard....i keep thinking about it...but it's too damn hot where I live now.
Don't worry if you can't grow a 'decent' beard, trimming (as others have said) can make a thin beard look good. Forget lotions and potions - they are just rip-offs. A few days growth, neatly shaped can look better than a beard in a lot of instances.

I'll take your word for that...it's 'summer' all year round here. I keep suggesting to the missus that I grow a beard again, but she doesn't like the look - might still do it though.
My wife is starting to nag me to shave again... I just show her the photo of my shaved virgin face next to my mother's, usually keeps her and the trimmers at bay for a good while.
AnonJust for men works pretty good for the grey, keeps my ol lady from plucking them out. And a tip when using just for men, apply Vaseline to all areas of exposed skin around your beard to keep the skin from staining.
Thanks for that - yep - I use that for my less than golden locks - and learnt about the vaseline the hard way when I dyed my hair black a few years ago...had black ears, and stains down the side of my face - looked pretty bad...haha...can laugh about it now.
taco_supremework around the patchiness, depending on where the patches are you may be able to grow hair long enough to cover it up and if not then just work around it. for example, if you have patchy cheek hair, keep that area short and let the chin hair grow out longer

Wait until you are older. If your beard is patchy it won't look good or grow in right anyway. I was forty before my beard was filled in.

The key to a well groomed beard is lineing it up. If you have bald patches line it thin. Growing a beard doesn’t mean not shaveing. Always keep the neck shaved and the stranglers that don’t tie into anything. Trust me you might say I’m quite experienced.
NotNatural23if prone to baldness all the hair on your head grows everywhere else. Supposedly there are products for men's beard that helps it grow thicker don't know if it works but I doubt it or people would be putting that on their heads.

My mother is a registered Native American, she has the dark brown skin, high cheek bones, long jet black hair and can hit a target horse back at 100 yards. My entire time in the corps I shaved peachfuzz and didn't start growing facial hair until I was about 28, now I'm rocking a full beard and the gross 2" long hairs on my shoulders and chest that appear overnight. Its definitely attributed to cycling.

Mast makes my facial hair grow faster but its always been thick so generics play a big role. I like the full goatee personally, especially in the bulking season, it will hide any semi double chin from the water and at the same time make your jaw look chiseled. I been tricking my wife for years haha
