Do you ever feel like people look at you in the gym.
ad
All the time in the gym I see people looking at me. There are bigger guys than me in the gym and a lot of times they are staring at me. I usually am lifting heavy ass weight. And oddly can lift more than a lot of bigger dudes. I feel my physique isn't equal with my strength. My strength is far more superior. I think people look at me thinking, How the hell is this dude lifting that.

I agree with Viking and jimboe85 .. I'm the underdog at my gym .. I come in with a fairly loose shirt and sweats and look like a nobody til I start to work out..actually today I was doing dumbbell ppullover I wanna say that's what it's called for some reason I'm not sure anyways I guy was staring at me and he finally came up and said sorry I was staring I just wanted to know how you did it I've been doing it wrong . Observant he was I don't mind it. I never have I never will I get states like what's this little guy doing here but when I out do most guys double my size they just state in awe
Yeah, I just blow the homos a kiss and that fully fuck with them lmao
I love when people look at the gym iam always wondering what there thinking
yes. which is why i usually work out alone.
i love the looks it pushes me further with my motivation.
I agree with viking. But to add Annother angle to this...sometimes guys that are into lifting and think they are bigger n badder than they actually are. I see A LOT of guys who have A LOT of work to do but they started a test dbol cycle 2 weeks ago so they think they are beasts and need to bang weights and walk around with a bad case of I.L.S. (invisable lat syndrome). I believe nobody is looking at that dude thinking "man I wana be THAT guy!" Nooo most average ppl think "wow fella we get it! Ur insecure and need attention to feel good about urself!" There's no need to grunt and moan and throw the 100lb dumbells 8feet from the bench on ur last rep....if you want people to notice you, be humble, use good form, quiet confidence gets chicks.....girls DO NOT find tools attractive. And if ur in a planet fitness with a bunch of overweight old people and eliptical enthusiests, and ur walking around like a gorilla, and people are looking at you? Its nothing positive they r thinking....trust me. Just be humble and friendly. I had to say this cuz I see "that guy" at my gym everyday....rolling up his sleeves constantly then flexin in the mirror, spendin more time flexin and looking around to see if anyonees looking at him than actually lifting, who throws weights...its pretty lame and everyone in the gym is thinking it..u don't need to ACT tough, if u put the work in, ur body will show it and there's no need for the display puffin ur chest, any respect someone would have is nullified when u try to shove it in peoples faces. True talk. Muscle will speak for itself. Girls (and guys too) understand that language MUCH better.
Not talking to anyone in particular. I just am tired of wacko tools giving juiceheads a bad name.
Sometimes at the gym, I feel as though people are doing this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZur63oX3Vs
I spent a little time last night thinking bout this thread and feel i have to lay these words down to bring a new perspective or a different angle towards the topic that maybe a few more guys here will recognise and/or appreciate.
When i was younger i was very big (260+) and to my disgrace now i had the attitude and swagger to match, meaning when folks would stare i would drop the lats out to to look even more impressive and give a look that would read as.."stay the fuck outa my way dickhead"..i have grown out of that typical bodybuilder stereotypical image now i have gotten older and when folk stare at me now i smile back and welcome a conversation to as to prove i am not the typical meathead that we are transpired to be and can actually create and hold an intelligent conversation... this way works better for me now, and when people do stare or comment it makes me smile inside and proves i must still be doing my job properly!.... when i get the looks and the "holy fuck man how do you stay in that shape at your age" it gives me a massive sense of acheivment and drives me forwards even harder.
I have found that the ones that actually speak or ask a comment are not the jealous types but are truly inspired by what they see... its the ones that look and grimace and do not speak that are of the jealous pack lol...lol... i have no time for that type and they can go fuck themselves merrilly lol.
Any of you guys that plan on living this thing and training on into your middle years and above best get used to the looks and start to embrace it for its worth, if you cant hack the looks while you are still young im sorry but it wont get any easier as you grow older...... and if you dont like being looked at your in the wrong fuckin game... embrace and enjoy fellas, because at the end of day the guy that is looking....... only wants to look like YOU.
I GOT LOOKED AT YESTERDAY.. ITS GONNA HAPPEN AGAIN TODAY... AND I HOPE TO FUCK IT STILL HAPPENS TOMORROW....... I LOVE IT!
I'm glad you wrote this in this thread...
AnonIve noticed as I get older I'm one of the few thats in this kind of shape for my age. I catch women checking me out and thats always a nice feeling. :-)
lol..yeah bro.. thats the best bit and were the self-control factor comes into play...... good though lmaoooooo
your telling me, i though a dude was looking at me wrong the otherday...turns out that was his face in awe.
Was it like this: http://unrealitymag.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/jizz-in-my-pants-andy... lol
skalpai hear you dude. im sort of the opposite, i can lift reasonable amounts, squat 400, bench 275, military press 225, dead 500 but i look much better than the weight reflects. but then again im a bodybuilder, not a weightlifter so weight doesnt matter, just the contraction. cus you can be benching 400 but if i look bigger, fuller, rounder, and more symmetrical than you than numbers dont really matter
Anonmy gym must be different. I work out at the infamous "Roid Gym" It has had this reputation for years. All the people that work out there are like family (99% anyway) there are a few weirdos and the place is packed. for the most part we just look at each other and say "Hell Yeah!" We seem to gain strength from one another and we always talk to each other with respect. Man, i am so lucky.
Stalion_WThat't the most healthiest attitude to embrace ! Right on point !
BLW5000trust yourself, despite what other people do
If you feel comfortable with yourself, you wil be fine
Always. I used to be around 195 and I'm only 5'9 but I was all cut and muscles. They all look but you just don't see them because the gym is is business. Even now at 175 I see them in the mirrors. I think how much I can lift plays a major role also.
Is that so? Lol. I mean no harm here. I just found this thread amusing.
breakingfaceIs this thread for real?
He shoulda wrote "I am so awsome, I often see ppl staring at me cuz I'm way more awsome than ppl think I am"
Haha yeah bro it is!
I agree with you but I also see a lot of smaller guys lifting a shit ton of weight wrong. It's not the weight it's how you lift it. The huge guys at my gym don't lift a million pounds they just lift it right.
Oh they are looking at you just all of you!
I deadlift 4 plates each side, and I'm a pretty trim athletic dude so that gets me some looks. I agree with the original poster about strength being superior to size, I'm the same way.
No1I usually go at night never many people there but kids doing a few sets of bi curls and texting and talking
I work out in a speedo, so yeah I get some looks.
Wardi77I used to get stared at quite alot when I trained at gyms. It didnt bother me much. It's funny because I am not the type to wear muscle shirts even in the summer, I lift in t shirts with sleeves and during the winter I wear a hoodie. I guess regardless of what you're wearing, if you are big and have strength to back it up with, people notice. I now have my own gym in my garage and cannot complain.
I try not to ccall too much attention to myself.
I wouldnt be able to consentrate either if u were at my gym! Hahahaha
form > weight lol
YES! ... But its mainly becuz my gym is filled with a bunch of mexican midgets and im 6'4 250lbs. Lol
holy fawk u is a big man.
Lol ehh i can never be too big u know.;)... 21 years old too.
you shooting to pass greg kovacs?
Haha hell yeah brotha, you gotta shoot BIG.;)..
But greg kovacs was 400+ lbs! Holy fuuck..thats alot of meat. Haha
he should be able too... 250 @ 21 without gear..... WOWWEE!
i get this a lot to, i lift a whole lot heavier than my build would suggest. 200 pounds lifting 315 for a set of 10. gets attention. or squatting big 400 or so pounds in sets.
just love it, im proud when people notice i bust my ass and work super hard to get my results, and for me i think i need to work a little harder than the average guy
Its when I finish my set I notice it. Because most of the time im dropping heavy ass weight on my failure set and I guess its loud sometimes and attracts attention. I don't give a shit what other people think though. Im in there to work. Work hard as hell
to be honest with you i never paid attention to tha,t but my buddy recently started lifting with me and keeps telling me about all the other guys staring and saying shit. i just keep shruggin it off...take it as a compliment tho brotha
Hahahaha... its all part of the deal when you are an immortal brother................... ENJOY THE RIDE
nice !
