We have blacktail deer up in northern Cali every September I fill my freezer. It is a must for us folks that don't buy meat or veggies from the grocer. I love some chicken fried venison with biscuts and gravy.
I would love to come out your way sometime and chase around those big Roosevelt Bulls..... Is it tough to draw a tag for them in CA? I understand its fairly easy in Wash and Or
Nice to see theres some other Hunters on the board. .....sorry to the folks who dont have access to the wild game meats...... it is literally seven tenths of my diet. ......dang that gives me an idea-
i should start a "Source" specilizing in it.... Venison, elk, bunnies, squirrle, doves, duck, geese, wild turkey, whatchu need? ...... i could whack a deer every morning out of my kitchen window. Todays promo- two Grouse breasts with every 50lb sack of deer meat.
Hunting is a huge hobby of mine I bow hunt muzzleload hunt and shot gun hunt reg season and I end up with about 13 tags and usually fill them all but I always give them to friends after my freezer is full
Im heading out to hang another camera and put sone bait down......just thinking if I could get one of those vet dart guns and put sustanon in it! Mega buck!!!!!!
Yeah- .. i think u could use any of those pelletized gear formulations that were intended for horses on deer. Prob wouldnt do shit for antler development but ud be getting bigger bodies. Like mid canadian saskatch sized. Some of those go 300lbs
Don't really love venison. My son gags when I cook it so that sort of messes up my appetite for it. But someone was telling me elk was the way to go.
I'm totally burned out on chicken. Fish is all poison. Turkey is dry and too much like chicken. Grass fed beef is good, bison is good. But what else is there that's good?
Wild boar is lean, has 8 grams of protein per oz of meat and you can harvest about 60% meat from the total weight. 150 lbs pig is the best way to go and 80 lbs of meat is what you can get. They are in season all year around, and you can shoot them anytime.
Thanks! I'll need all the luck I can get. Hunting here in the south is nothing like northern states where they have corn/bean fields for miles on end. We have nothing but pine trees and plenty poachers to scare all the wildlife into nocturnal lifestyles.
U probably don't wanna hear this then but here goes I live in upstate NY right on lake Ontario in Wayne county apple country we have 600 plus acres of apple farm with corn and soybean fields every where deer hunting heaven
One day I'm hoping to make a hunt somewhere up north. I've been to Colorado twice as a teenager but never got lucky enough to make a kill. I'd like to hunt either Illinois or Nebraska. Maybe even Missouri.
I love to bow hunt..... That's my serenity! I make my own bows and love to harvest those big corn fed ohio deer!
Here in the south.. it's this weekend!!
Good Luck Bro-
Teal season?! Starts here this weekend. The following is bow season!!!! Can't get here quick enough.
dredayIts goose right now broyha aint nothing better than goose sticks and bologna
Ur right about that- ....gotta say tho, i prefer the late season cornfed goose breast to this nasty grass tasting shit we are getting lately.

Anyone have any recommendations?
Moose is the best hands down. Elk is good but I have had some elk that was pretty tough. I really like Caribou but some people really don't.
