Anti-depressants

ad

I been taking Buropion and escitalopram. From what I hear, Anti depressants cause more harm then good? Anyone here have experience with Anti-depressants in general?

I suspect there are some terrific ant-depressants out there. If you need em take em. However, with regards to anything in the benzopine family please take a moment and Google "benzo withdrawals". If that does not scare the crap out of you nothing in this world will. Everything you read is true.

In a world with an excellent selection of antidepressants your doc will find plenty without having to prescribe you a life sentence in hell.

Benzos are only for occasional use.

They must be very slowly tapered down if you wish to get off of them.

Never let a doctor put you on long-term daily benzos. They are only to be used on an as-needed basis.

I have personal experience with these medications and have done a good deal of reading.

You take care of yourself XV. some doctors are quick to write prescriptions and kinda of use you has an experiment. I know from the dr's at the VA. Just remember the pills never get to the root of the issues. I hope for the best for you buddy and hit me up anytime, I have been very intimate with depression myself.

I was out on them for severe anxiety and hated it. I was not depressed at all just anxious. So I stayed on Effexor for a little while (2months) and I just decided to heal myself my way and fortunately I was able to. But some people really need the help. So be carefull man. Hope you get it figured out.

I was on celexa for a couple of my months and weened myself off of it. I was not myself, detached and subdued. It kept me from having blow ups and staying pissed off but did not allow me to live what i consider a normal life. if you are seriously depressed than these drugs are necessary but imo, if you can do without they should be left alone

Im on celexa now. Ive been on it for about 10mos and am thinking about weening off. I feel the same way. The doc said its supposed to help with anxiety and depression but im not so sure. I remember 1st getting on it. I was going fucking NUTS for like 3mos before my body adjusted to it. Thats y im kinda scared to ween off.

I been taking wellbutrin for 5 years. The first month or 2 are a little tough it's just your body getting used to the drug.

If I were you I would quit alltogether while you have the chance if possible. After being on ad's for 8 years, Ive tried multiple times to quit and it doesn't work. Once your body gets used to the drugs, it will NEVER be the same without them.

Sometimes ad's are prescribed to help give better moods, anxiety relief or something like that, people that truly do not have depression, once they try to quit taking the meds they will really know what depression is. It's a horrible experience nobody should have to go through.

So if you think you really need it I say take it but remember it will be a permanent thing, you will take wellbutrin for the rest of your life.
For me, I don't mind it only sides I get are minor like stuffy nose, dry mouth. I am okay with taking 1 pill a day for the rest of my life wellbutrin has helped me so much. I used to be so cloudy minded without it I would forget things everyday like where my keys are, phone, or forget that I was supposed to go to work that day. It got really bad and I went back on wellbutrin and have been doing great ever since. WB is not perfect, but I like it because it does not make you feel like a zombie like other antidepressants do such as ssri's prozac, citalopram, zoloft. WB alters my mindset but I don't notice it. In a good way, just like instead of thinking ahh I cant wait for this day to be over, I wake up normal or excited to see what the day brings me.

do u think its worth it? my endo gave me this stuff but i only been on it for a few days, he said give it a month to see it work. But in the 6 days i been on , I'm already experiencing memory loss and concentration problems. Right now, i see it as just a health hazard and I'm thinking of discontinuing it. He is convinced that I am depressed, and i dont think so maybe a little but nothing over the top

i have my cycles of depression, usually by time periods. Like i will be over the top happy and feeling good for like two to three days then it all comes down and i start to feel crazy down for a while, then back up again. Started to notice it more when i hit my 20s and its just keep getting worst. Over the years , i have cycles where I get more happy and then more depressed.. but if being on medication like this, i would rather not because i could handle it just like i can handle anything Smile

daveman242's picture
