It's my therapy, when I lift nothing else matters,
It's me against my shortcomings, my relationships, my past, helps my sobriety.
Just feel one with myself
I started lifting after my college wrestling career ended due to injury went from 142 to 210 fat as hell and have been BB for 5 years since
Looking for the ‘Pointless, unjustified vanity’ option…
I wanna be healthy and capable so I can be an asset to my family, my friends, and to community as a whole
To feel more confident, to be respected for what we've achieved. Bodybuilding is a great sport, because its one of few where your success can be seen on a first sight.
Plus it gets you a Sexy chick right bud!!!!
True, I almost forgot, ---- HAHA
prettyboy123I am 7 years sober from alcohol this March and being a bodybuilder has helped me be sober
Very Well Done Mate!!! I know exactly what you mean, lifting keeps you focused and responsible. I am 10 years sober this june and its only now I realise all those years previous were not a proper life, they were wasted and pointless. It sounds Cliche but life is so much better Sober
prettyboy123Life feels more possible when bodybuilding is a major component of everything as my day ensues.
I just wanted to say its Great to see all of the newer guys getting involved in the site now and helping others out! It seems like the knowledge level of guys coming in lately seems to be getting much better and they are often helping us out with our questions too!! lol Sorry if I have missed anyone out here as there are quite a few new names I have been noticing: @V0411 @SeeOhShow @Shitsy43 @Jaxattax86 @Str8Suited @Freedom15Muscle
Appreciate you! I've been around a long time was just on PM. Use to compete professionally now I'm just in the gym for sanity. I have trained several NPC competitors as well so I have a lot of training and PED knowledge, much of which is first hand lol. Any questions just send me a message. If I don't know the answer I can help you find it.
Thank you man, I know I'm grateful for the knowledge I've gained here.
Thanks for the mention brother.
I came here as basically a complete noob, ready to just start blasting everything and anything. Then someone, who wouldn’t even know if they walked by me, spend a ton of time explaining why it’s so important to dial in my trt, why doing multiple compounds without ever using them before is a bad idea, and made me realize that as impatient as I am, if I wanna do this as safely as possible and not kill myself while doing it, that it’s not a race.
On top of that, there are so many awesome people who over the last few months have helped answer a lot of my questions, regardless of how silly they may of seemed to experienced people.
The advice I’m given sticks with me. I value the advice from people here tremendously. I’m extremely good with computers. I’ve spent A LOT of time on them. I’ve NEVER seen a forum that is so helpful to new people, without making them feel like shit for asking a question that’s simple. Sure, we troll here and there, but it’s all in good fun & usually still comes with good advice, even if someone is trolling a bit.
I’m very appreciative of the things I’ve learned so far. I still have a LONG way to go. I still enjoy helping people, if I can, with the knowledge I’ve gained. If I don’t feel comfortable giving someone an answer, I’ll flat out say it because I rather tell someone I don’t know rather than giving them bad advice.
I can say that I’m glad I found this forum. It’s been nothing but helpful, and without the help of the experienced guys, a lot of people could go making bad decisions.
1swoltHad some “ friends” introduce to me to crack in 1993. Had a full 365 days of non stop smoking rock. I woke up 1 day counting my ribs in the bathroom mirror- I decided to pray hard, give it all I got and quit. The very next day I went to work and got shocked working on a light fixture. I fell 11ft at a Pepsi plant, and was given a 17% disability in my back. I was at home for 7 months. An old friend came by and suggested I start lifting weights. I was too embarrassed to go to a gym, so I bought myself a cheap set. Right under a year of that I decided to try a gym. Couldn’t be prouder to tell you I lift 7 days a week( yep still a spaz). Got 2 kids now married 21 years and weights became my crack. I’m no mass monster but I got down to 124. I’m 51 now and stay around 175- 180. This site has provided me so much knowledge, and posted first pic today as well. It was crooked but happy with where I’m at, cuz of where I have been.
WOW I assumed you were in your early 30's by your picture mate! I remember in the depths in my alcoholism days when I was down to about 115lbs because drink was essentially my food - I hated getting in the shower because I would have to look at my body and refused to look in the mirror at my reflection, nothing but ribs and hip bones sticking out. You get so low that you decide absolutely nothing could be any worse than it already is, eventually the day comes where you say I'm sick of this shit - this was never me
1swoltMan- I would go to bed every night wearing thermal underwear and layers and layers of clothes( because I knew I was so frail and thin- but didn’t want others knowing- hard to miss anyway) I lived like a true paranoid crack head, and I just knew cops were coming every single night - not one night did I not battle with paranoia. My story gets better/worse in that I had an unlimited supply of $. My roommate could cook up powder, and he was with a millionaire many times over. My job was the runner - I’ve been to every ghetto in the city I am now. However I have shit tons of muscle selfies and zero crack head pics
Couldn’t be happier for you kicking your drinking as well man. We both have side effects that quite simply are life changing for both of us now!
When I started, I wanted to get strong for work because I had to carry shingles up a ladder most of the day 5 days a week. Then got out of habit for multiple years, then the time I started lifting and really got into it (5-6years ago) I did it because I wanted a new and good habit to keep myself off drugs plus I didn't want to be small ever again. Right now I'm lifting for size and I also obviously want to be strong but the reason I love it so much is for the mental benefits like confidence and not being depressed or suffering from anxiety. It's basically all of the above in one way or another.
I think every single one of us does it for the positive mental aspects it brings especially after training, and the discipline and focus it puts into us if you really want to suceed with it. There is no greater deterrant than knowing if you were to hit the drink or drugs train again the first thing you will totally screw up is your training and all the thousands of hours you have put into it. All the money spent on gear, food and supplements gone straight down the drain.
Yeah man, I forgot to mention the discipline and how I've been able to apply that to the rest of my life. I never felt as proud of myself about anything as much as I have my willingness to stick to working out and the progress I've made. This is truly my number one hobby
Good for you Buddy!
I want to run through walls like the kool aid man.
I am passed that age where I care about being as big and strong as possible. I am actually surprised I am still alive. I've lost enough bodybuilding friends over the years due to steroids. My BP sometimes get alarmingly high.
I think if I had a friend in person who I saw die from steroid use, especially if they suffered over time - that I would probably stop doing them. What kind of things did they die from mate?
Every one of them was cardiac related. It was sudden and unexpected. I knew people coming up in the pro scene doing whatever they felt was needed to win.
Really - Heart attacks and things? I can beleive it, problem is the state of the heart is the one area we cannot see in bloodwork isn't it.
Turned 49 last month. I have been fortunate in the aging aspect of things so far but, I can feel joints and tendons not being as elastic and not springing back like they did just a year ago. Sooo...
I have noticed that my CNS seems to take longer to recover these days, sometimes it seems to take forever to feel normal & alert again rather than that jaded, removed, brain fog type feeling.
When I was younger it was to look good so that I’d be more attractive to the opposite sex. As I get older it’s to feel good, the looks come second…but weight lifting is my antidepressant pill, my happy place, my me time. The looks, confidence etc are all just side effects, before it was the goal.
tuxBecause I feel better when I workout. Ready to do shit and work harder on my goals. When I don't workout I become lazy bitch.
I'm getting older and I've noticed as long as I stay active me body feels good. As soon as I slow down I immediately start to feel my age.
I lift to get buff, cut, chiseled, & jacked.
PhillyMikeThe 4am crowd at my gym are the most hard working and dedicated people in my community. My workout is the highpoint of my day. After that, its just work and school on the side while I prep for tomorrows workout.
KonstantViktoryI'd probably have put a bullet in my head after sucking on a meth pipe if it wasn't for weightlifting. Thank god.
It all Started for me to not be skinny anymore and to be jacked , then it went to I want to be biggest guy in gym ego trip, then became still looking good after 40 then it became I need to be healthier “I’ll lower the dosages “ and that will be healthy blah blah blah , now it’s TRT don’t want to commit to huge cycle so I guess it just boils down to the recent reason to maintain what I have and not loose it. Lol
Ultimately its all down to what makes you personally happy, thats all that matters. Goals and ideals change throughout our lives. Next month you may find that playing golf makes you happy and its no longer weights!! LOL
Facts!
I was expecting to be hit with - But I already play Golf!!! LMAO
No the Driving range where I feel like a professional rockstar don’t count. Lol
LMFAO
It’s almost all of these.
Mine was always to be a more formidable force. I don't want to be big and useless or lean and brittle.
I chose stronger since it was the closest to my overall goals.
HELL YEAH BABY - A MAN AFTER MY OWN HEART!!!! LMAO
Lean & Brittle is a great saying
Uncle knows what up.
I just love lifting weights. Been doing it natty for 3 years, 5 days per week, one bodypart per day, 5 excercises per bodypart, 3 sets (after warm up sets) per excercise. I recently completed my first cycle and am stoked. I can't believe the size and strength improvements I've made on a 12 week Test only cycle, hence why I've voted "to get bigger",
Can't wait to do my next cycle and add more compounds. Need to research all that first but I'm thinking Dbol first 6 weeks, Test cyp 500mg for 12 weeks and Deca 400mg for 12 weeks. PCT 2 weeks after last shot of course. Any helpful input would be great.
Doing steroids for the first time after training natural for so long is mind blowing isn't it! The results are so different. If its size and strength that you train for then the next cycle you have planned is a great one - the only thing I would personally change myself is substitute the Deca for NPP instead as you will feel much better on this compound and you will begin to see the results in a week rather than 5 weeks which Deca takes to build up in the system. The NPP you will have to inject EOD. With the Dbol as it is your first time I would run it 2 weeks at 30mg ED and then go to 40mg ED if you find you tolerate it well. No need to go to 50mg like a lot read that they have to. The NPP will be great 350 to 400mg/wk.
Thanks for the great advice Press1. NPP is like a short ester deca from my research. The only thing that botheres me abuot that is the eod shooting and whist I'm doing long estered Test I figure I may as well stick to long estered Nandrolone. I definitley will take your advice on board though and see how it goes. I kind of tend to pigeon hole things and if I'm going to do a short estered Nandrolone I figure I might as well do a short estered test. Bung it all in the same barrel is how my mind works.
Any other thoughts on mixing short esters with long esters would be welcome.
Started lifting to get bigger, stronger, and of course leaner. That being said, it's been the mental stability and overall quality of life that has kept me in the game the most and has made probably the single most impact on my life in recent years. Sex life, ego, and many other aspects have been strengthened and felt better over time. Still enjoying the benefits and plan to continue to move forward. Still want to be jacked and look good though.
Jacked and looking good are still priorities nonetheless, just feel that I've gained more than I ever would have imagined as far as quality of life, mental stability and ensuring that I have goals and ambitions. Basically, the gym is the glue that has ultimately held me together in early adulthood. Most notably since having kids and a family at home that rely on me. The gym has also taught me a great deal of work ethic that I believe has transferred well over into all other aspects of life; relationship with my wife, parenting, work, hobbies, etc. I advice anyone looking for change in their lives, whether they are in a dark headspace or are coming off drug addictions and more, that the gym and focusing on health and nutrition has given me an edge that I never knew existed. Makes me feel like I am chasing after something and in turn competing within myself for the greater good of everyone around me as well as myself.
Can I choose an “All of the above” option? Lol
NO!!!! That would make it too easy and not as interesting, its designed to force you to make sacrifices in favour of the most appealing one LMAO
