+ 1 Anyone use Ashwagandha powder?

ad

I've just received a supplement order and in it was supposed to be TUDCA, Zinc tabs and Astragalus Root powder - However the person that packed it decided to send me Ashwagandha powder instead!! Lol I've never tried this stuff before or really even looked into it, but it looks like it has a lot of possible benefits including:

  • Reducing Stress & Anxiety
  • Enhancing athletic performance - Mainly Strength and VO2 Max (Oxygen levels)
  • Boosts Testosterone & Fertility
  • Reduces high blood sugar levels through its effects on Insulin secretion allowing cells to absorb more glucose
  • Reduces Inflammation
  • Improves sleep

It would be pretty amazing if it did even half these things, is there anyone here that regularly takes this stuff or can validate any of these claims?

@Nattyboomba I am going to assume you will have tried this!! Smile

I have to take Seroquel at night to turn my brain off. Over the last 2 years, I've been waking throughout the night. I got on a CPAP which was huge. I started using a straight Ashwagandha powder in a gummy in February of this year and noticed a difference.

I have a buddy who had been working on an all-natural sleep aid and just started producing it. It contains Ashwagandha powder and some other ingredients to promote various sleep cycle stages, especially the nREM stage. I had to play with the dosage but eventually found a sweet spot. My mom was taking Advil PM and hates the morning fog it creates. She and a couple of her friends tried it and have said it made a difference. Everyone reacts differently. You can give it a shot. Called Slumbera - from HLVSciences. Google it. You can DM me and I can give you the code my buddy gave me for $20 off.

I'm all about bio-hacking. I'm more of a pharma/science vs holistic/natural medicine guy. I need more quantitative sleep data to say Ashwagandha and other herbals have a positive correlation to sleep but so far I feel it's been beneficial.

I tried it actually bought a big bag of it and I took it for a month but I couldn't tell a difference when I got on to when I got off, I don't really have anxiety much so I can't comment on that but it didn't touch my bloodsugar for sure. I was borderline diabetic and I tried it mainly for that didn't budge it the whole month. I check my glucose daily never saw a change on it.

I use it quite often. I find it really helpful in mitigating stress. Not noticed so much of the athletic benefits but it is definitely a welcome help for the price.

I sure have tried it. I take it now, in fact. There is a ton of solid science behind this particular supplement. Although it has a positive effect on testosterone, I would suggest that isn’t where the strength of this lies. It is great at reducing anxiety via modulating cortisol, reduces activity in the HPA axis & helps control mediators of stress like JNK-1. It has been shown to improve sleep in clinical studies, improve VO2 max, improve muscle growth (in natural athletes), have great positive impact on mental health and mood disorders, reduce blood sugar levels, help enduce hormonal homeostasis, reduce inflammation, improve memory and cognitive response in both young & old participants and of course it’s known for boosting testosterone in men leading a natural lifestyle. I wonder if Makwa didn’t see any improvement in his test levels because he is enhanced or likely has maxed out his natural test when off cycle through his mastery of his art. This is a fantastic compound that is very safe, has a shitload of high quality clinical studies to back it up ( and many of poor quality, sadly ) and is well tolerated by the vast majority of people. The real strength is it’s balancing effect on mood and emotion, and in reducing anxiety. Who among us on cycle couldn’t use a little more calm & balance? It is worth noting, that like ALL PEDs and supplements that source (quality & purity) is crucial. There are likely more shit quality offerings out there than high quality

I tried this stuff way back when before I ever touched steroids. Natty levels were tanked and tried everything from ashwagahda to tongkat ali Lol to try and bring it up. Nothing budged it. HPTA just fried from old age I guess.

Nattyboomba's picture

Dang. I’m kinda surprised by that. I love how thorough you are in your approach to PEDs. Bloods, adjacent compounds and all that. It paints a much clearer picture of what’s happening than most of us bother with.

Now I know why you are always so chilled buddy!! lol Its from a great supplement company that I use over here, everything so far has been really good so I just stick with them. Interestingly enough one of the things they do not cap and sell is Milk Thistle, I asked them why this was and they said in the UK you actually need a specific licence to be able to sell it, surprising eh! The extra oxygen capacity would be nice, I'll report back on here when I have used some.

Nattyboomba's picture

That’s odd that a special license is needed for milk thistle, when other supps don’t require it. I wonder why.

Nattyboomba's picture

Oh, and there is decent evidence to suggest that it helps the body burn fat as a preferred fuel source, while increasing endurance.

I dated this girl that took this herb called noasitol. Dudes wouldn't even look her way when she wore daisy dukes. Flat as hell.

I’ve never even heard of it

Parsley is hallucinogenic, containing Myristicin. You can forget about getting high off it; you’d need to eat half your bodyweight in parsley to feel an effect.

Ashwagandha is like that. Furthermore, what's usually sold is inert and not the pure active ingredient or part of the plant that contains the highest concentration.

MOST of these exotic plants from Asia, Africa, and the jungles of south America are used in traditional herbal remedies with little science to back up the claim. Usually, they are consumed in a way different from how they are mass produced (e.g., as a tea, chewing undried root or leaf, or the soft inside of a bark, etc.) What you get is the whole plant tossed into a woodchipper, ground to powder, baked to dry it out, and encapsulated. Whatever active ingredient is there is miniscule and may no longer be effective after the processing. Warnings on the label of such products not only attempt to protect the manufacturer from poisoning you with a non-FDA approved drug, but also it gives the allure of potency.

Makwa's picture

Need to use and ingest these things fresh like the natives do. Most likely need the toothless old woman to chew on the bark for a few hours and then spit it out and drink that. This stuff is so bastardized by the time it reaches us in the states in pill and powder form that I think it becomes pretty much worthless.

Or smoke it like this guy, all natural, getting the most out of the pepper.

Can fast forward to 1:00, that’s when the fun starts.

I know its in my EAA POWDER by nutrabio. But never took it separate. Goodluck man Maybe log your experience

Makwa's picture

I tried it to see if it would boost my natty test when I had low levels. Didn't do jack Lol I'm all for holistic herbs and medicines but I'll be dammed if I can find one that actually does what it's purported to do.

press1's picture

Ahh well at least I didn't pay for the bugger Lol I'll try it anyway and see if anything funky happens.

ONESICK's picture

I don't use many supplements but from my understanding it's pretty good at reducing cortisol and stress at 300mg 2x a day.

ONESICK's picture

Also it's not something you want to take for a long time. Maybe a few weeks on and few weeks off.
