+ 1 What 1 Thing did you miss/affected you the most about Losing the gym?
After going through 4/5 months of not being able to go to the Gym and train what did everyone find they missed the Most of all?
Hopefully this will never happen to us again in our lifetime, but it must have really brought home how much it means to you and how much you truly get out of it every day :-)
Luckily I was able to keep on training at home but if I have had to take a week off from illness or going away I found it was my Mental Health & well being that suffered the most - like many half the reason I train is because of the happiness and sense of fulfilment it brings into my life. It takes life from feeling either empty or average to brilliant and happy, everything no matter what it is feels 5 times better. Plus the structure and discipline it brings to each day makes me feel much more positive.

Honestly I miss the the small talk with all the different people. I like to call them gym friends. I wouldn’t or don’t hang with them outside of the gym but at the gym I enjoy the BS conversations and bantering. I really miss that. I don’t really keep in touch with friends anymore. I dedicate my life to my family so that little bit of friendship I really miss.
I missed seeing hot fit chicks. Working out with weights gives me an overall sense of well-being I definitely miss looking good and feeling strong.
Was the last thing keeping wanting to live. Just took a 12 day holiday at an inpatient psych ward. It was my last hope.., was in a very dark place.
Thank God I am stable.
At least now ..,the gyms are still closed in my state.., I have the energy and motivation to start doing band exercises and jail house calisthenics.
Plus my appetite is coming back.
If anyone gets to that point please check yourself in and get help. There are no second chances if you choose to end it..
Only bad thing for me is the price increases on equipment.
When this blows over stuffs gonna go cheap.
Personally for me the primary reason I go to the gym is for my mental well being. I've been doing it for so long if I take more then a few days of I don't feel right and become grouchy and have lower energy it seems. The gym is like my therapy. It gives me a sense of well being. The physical results are great too, but honestly are of way lower importance to me.
I totally agree with you bro my mental health has defiantly declined to be honest since march i never realized till now how much the gym helps just to let some steam off after a rough day at the office or fighting with the wife. I really miss it.and i know for a fact its not coming back anytime soon where im from.
Just get a home gym and watch more porn hub. It’ll be ok

Yeah, I got a pull-up bar, 45lb dumbbell, and an old person walker from Goodwill. 4 times a week I'd just do 10 sets of pull-up/dip supersets, And some accessory work with the dumbbell. And because of that, along with not being able to do all the MMA shit I do, I put on some damn good size.
I broke my hand in November couldn't go to the gym till January then January my dad died and went into a funk and by the time I was over that they closed my gym so I haven't been to the gym in 9 months and my shoulders are FLAT AS FUCK and its summer no sleeveless shirts for me this year
Hand stand push ups bro
Jesus really sorry to hear about all that Bud - sometimes life just throws a barrel of shit at you all at once and you are left wondering why me? Have the gyms re-opened or I seem to remember you invested in a bench didn't you to get you through? Keep your head up man :-))
Luckily I was able to keep the structure and discipline in place by training at home, but it was mostly cardio, bodyweight only and volume work with 25 lb kettle bells. What I missed the most was the DOMS that comes 12-36 hours after pushing heavy weights around. I did deadlines yesterday and my hamstrings, glutes and back are good and tight and a little sore this morning. I missed that feeling of satisfaction I get from knowing that I really pushed myself to the limit from a strength standpoint and not just burning myself out with very high rep and low weight work at home.
I can really imagine the difference in feeling you get when forced to train like that - the same as doing 200 press ups vs some barbell or dumbell presses. You still get a blood rush and pump but the satisfaction just isn't there. Like feeling you've done a third of the workout - the appetite you get is totally different afterwards also isn't it.
It's 100% different! Hard to describe but it's like an annoying nagging wanting to snack hunger and not craving a big ass bowl of brown rice and 8 oz of chicken to fuel muscle growth hunger. Good chance it's all in my head but I swear it's different. My biggest motivation was to at least keep my body used to training and expending enough energy to get fatigued 5-6 days a week so that getting back in the weight room wasn't like running into a brick wall. I've been back since mid-May and finally starting to make some good progress beyond where I was when I got the boot at the beginning of March.
So true, man. I got a pull-up bar and an old-person walker from the Goodwill. I just did supersets of dips & pull-ups, along with some accessory work with a 45lb dumbbell.I not only maintained, but I actually put on some decent size for what I was doing.
That said, I hated it. It wasn't NEARLY as satisfying as hitting the gym and doing heavy deadlifts, heavy OHP, heavy dips, all that fun dope stuff.
