I was more or less just bitching in the form of sarcasm. I get why the rule exists and not saying I necessarily disagree with it, but i guess my major gripe about is that it seems as tho this rule was overlooked for some time (not that that makes it any less valid), a rule in place to protect members of eroids, but then you have a source calling attention to it, not because they give a fuck about safety of the members, but because “wah wah, that’s not fair for my business of selling overpriced products”. Sources have every right to sell their products for what they want, but so should calling out sources over pricing, this is a review site is it? So if referring people via PM to other sources on or off of eroids is not allowed, then calling out sources over pricing should be more welcomed in an open format.
What you are suggesting is like reviewing every minute of security cam footage for thousands of cameras rather than the footage for when a situation was reported. If you value eroids, you report solicitations in DM; at a minimum, you don't participate.
Then, in the forums you don't post like this is a non issue, victomless behavior. It has very serious real world ramifications. Pretend it's your ass going to jail and not BFG's

The rules are the rules man! It doesn't only go one way. I never repeated to a soul the things I've read in regards to it. I was just seeing if he was gonna get away with it or whatever? I’m genuinely trying to understand where the line is here, not argue for the sake of it.
I fully agree that acting as a representative or promoter for a source should be against the rules … posting ads, pushing discounts, steering traffic, or clearly benefiting from it makes total sense to penalize.
What’s confusing to me is the private, unsolicited recommendation scenario.
If someone reaches out to me in private and asks, “Hey man, who have you personally used or trust?” and I answer honestly with my own experience, without incentives, without links, without ongoing promotion … that doesn’t feel like representation or promotion. That feels like normal peer-to-peer conversation.
Especially when:
• There’s no public posting
• No financial benefit
• No repeated pushing
• No “go buy from X” campaign
• Just “this worked for me, do your own research”
By that logic, recommending any source outside the forum … even casually … becomes punishable, while recommending forum-approved ones is acceptable. That creates a gray area where intent and behavior aren’t clearly separated.
I’m not saying the rule is wrong … I’m asking whether intent, context, and benefit are being considered.
Because there’s a big difference between:
• Promoting a source
and
• Answering a private question honestly as a user
Clarity here would help a lot, especially to avoid good members getting burned unintentionally.

This is saying no deals legitimately conducted through private messages, and I’m sure continually using the outside link in messaging/bio without taking steps to become a verified SRC is the main issue.
