ad

Ok Bulking season is here and this is directed to the newbs or guys that don't have a lot of experience with cycles, im going to lay out a cycle with complete stats and calorie intake ...lets say Mr happy is in week 8 and isn't growing like he should I want you to spot the poss reasons that he isn't gaining weight.

27 years old
6 feet tall
240 pounds
15%BF

goals looking to add 20-25 pounds of mass

cycle lay out

1-16 weeks of Test E @ 750 mg a week
1-14 weeks decca @600 mg a week
1-4 weeks dbol @60 mg a day

aromasin on hand if needed
caber on hand if needed

food
3500 calories a day
300 grams protein
175 carbs

started out gained 7 pounds the first 3 weeks strength increased and was feeling good then I have hit a wall?
my weight has not went up or down not seeing any real changes in my body. did blood work total test was 5236 and estro was about 42. so im guessing I should up my test and decca to a gram a week to get better results. im working out 5 days a week lifting 2 hours and a hour of cardio. any help would be appreciated .

post up what you think the issues are and as always there will be no FLAMMING OFNEW GUYS FOR QUESTIONS OR WRONG ANSWERS THIS IS TO HELP THEM LEARN... ALSO ANYONE CAN JUMP IN

Here are my initial thoughts when I first read this.

Damn this guy is huge, how much more is he going to realistically be able to bulk up to.

Those initial gains were due to glycogen and water retention from the dbol.

Food intake is WAY to low. I plugged his stats into the TDEE calculator and just to maintain weight he would be needing 4100 cals. So given he even gained some weight is a good indication his dbol is the real deal. Gains would have been even more impressive if he was eating like he should be. Cals should be more around 5K with about 400/600/100 (P/C/F) to start gaining some quality mass. Thinking more drugs is the answer is just classic nowadays it seems. lol

What the hell is the deal with that workout schedule. lol I am not even doing that much during a cut. 2hrs in the gym. Must be doing more talking than lifting. Bust your ass for an hour tops and get out and get home and feed the muscles. 1hr of cardio after, is there anything else that can derail a good bulk. I like a little cardio during a bulk to keep my cardiovascular shape but 2hrs total tops/wk and definitely not after a weight session. Lift weights 4-5d/wk and on 1 or 2 of those off days get a little cardio in.

You hit every thing great job +2 I was actually proud of the guys below they did a pretty good job of getting them all

Keep these coming if you could GJ. I know it takes time to write these up and then follow through with all the replies. I think these help myself and others to think for themselves and learn more this way. I can see some things wrong and then others chime in with the things I didn't see. Thanks for these, your definitely an asset here.

yeah, lots of good answers. Keep schooling them.

Sounds like 7 lbs of water weight. Suprised he even gained that with 3500 cals. If this guy wants real gains we need him at 5400 cals in the peak of this bulk. 600 carbs minimum, drop to 450 carbs on off days. 2 cheat meals a week.

Somthing like this daily

2 egg meals
2 red meat meals
2 chicken/fish meals
1 or 2 mass shakes and carbs up the ass

I am glad that you guys picked apart the reasons he wasn't growing anymore and thanks to those that helped some members with this by hinting on reasons.....

First thing I notice is he needs to increase calories as his weight increases.
The first few weeks his calorie intake might of been above maintenance but as he has got heavier, his calories might only meet his maintenance calorie requirements

Gymjunkie01's picture

true but look at it there are a couple big things that should scream at you

I saw that he was overtraining and doing too much cardio but I saw that in zebs answer so didn't want to copy that

Cycle layout doesn't look that bad at all...

The old bread and butter of a bulk....

Gymjunkie01's picture

plain and simple

I agree.... Seems to have a pretty good lay out all around except for the training and cardio, which is going to but a stop to the gains in there tracks and just spinning his wheels....

I have learned that from my own wheel spinning....

Until someone told me the same thing and boom gains are coming more and nice and slow.

Gonna gravy train your other post about bulking and working out too much. 2 hours lifting and an hour of cardio five days a week with only 3500 calories. He's burning all that up doing that. Maybe shorten the workouts or only do it 2-3 times a week.

Gymjunkie01's picture

you are correct gravy lol +2

I'd also up the calories to at least 5000 per day because it takes a lot to carry the weight he already has and needs excess to grow as you probably know big guy

Gymjunkie01's picture

look at his training what screams to you about that

Gymjunkie01's picture

you are correct to a point.. but I think if you reread the bottom half you will find the answers sitting right there

I don't spend as much time on here as I'd like to but I always love your scenarios. Awesome. I haven't read through the other guys' answers so that I don't cheat.

I think the biggest issue is the calorie intake. I think it should be in upwards of 4,500 cals and probably a lot more considering how much time in the gym and cardio that he's doing?

But the sudden weight gain I would say is the dbol (probably a lot of water too though) but I would think that after 8 weeks, even with the long esthers of the test e and decca that he would still see mass/weight gain but an hour of cardio every day is probably gonna slow that down?

Best I got...give it to me straight!

Gymjunkie01's picture

your correct on him needing to up his calories/ your correct on the dbol and your correct about it being week 8 and he should be seeing increases. but ask your self if mr happy would simply stop doing 2 things as much do you think he would start getting impressive results

johnnyoldboy's picture

Damn I love this detective type stuff!

Ok, as we know I am an amateur so be gentle...

I would say one issue is maybe OVER training with weights for 2 hours at the rate of 5 days per week??

Maybe not enough recovery time....that's the only thing I can think of.

Fire away

BigThing's picture

It is sooo easy. He just needs to double the dose on everything and add a gram of tren ace. If that does not work then get back on dbol and add anadrol- 50mg pre and 50mg post workout. Then drop cals to 1000 and he will be able to bulk and cut at the same time. That's a cycle that by bro sold me and ge said all the Olympians are using it so it must be fire lol.

Now seriously, cut the work out time, less cardio and more fooooooood.

Gymjunkie01's picture

that seems the norm anymore bro.

you are correct he needs to consume more food

There's one that's so glaringly obvious... I'll just drop hints here and there, let them put 2 and 2 together.

Gymjunkie01's picture

I seen the one lol thank you

Ozninjaguy's picture

...also...such low carbs ad high protein - more of a cutting diet, rather than bulking.

The Impastable's picture

He's 8 weeks in, what's a constant he hasn't changed since he started?

Gymjunkie01's picture

no you can bulk on the PROTIEN and CARBS ive listed no problem

  • gym good job on these scenarios you do. It's good for the young guys. Smile
Ozninjaguy's picture

The Dbol gave him the (water) weight - both Test E and Deca take about 4-6 weeks to actually kick in and show results.

Gymjunkie01's picture

good job for picking up the dbol water weight connection, but by week 8 its kicked in just reread it the answers are there +1

Owes a Review × 1
Ozninjaguy's picture

As Goose said: a lot of cardio - if that is done every workout.

Gymjunkie01's picture

so why would 5 days of cardio a hour a day be bad if your bulking

Owes a Review × 1
Ozninjaguy's picture

High cardio is about fat burning/reducing...it doesn't allow for calories to be used for growing

The Impastable's picture

Is the cardio the only issue you see here, or does his training also need modification?

I had to go to bed (different time zone here) so couldn't reply - have read the entire thread - very informative - the 5days x 2hrs x calories bit is interesting and explains a lot about why I never seem to be able to hit the 220lb mark, thanks!

+2 for the educational thread. I made some notes on the issues I see here but I'll post them later. Just interested to see what others think first.
