The Scale.
ad
The dreaded scale! Everyone asks "how much you weighing these days?" So it hard to avoid the temptation of jumping on the scale, to gauge progress once in awhile.
But it's not good, for me at least. This week I started taking some aromasin daily, I was getting bitchy, and my weight dropped 7 lbs. Which technically is a great thing - I look better and my BP is down. But I cannot deny the psychological impact the fucking scale has on me.
So fuck the scale, I'm done with it.
Anyone else go through this??

yep, I weigh everyday and get pissed of if I go down!!! and I swear they tamper with it so the ladies think they gained weight sometimes!!! = more money for gym!
bro everyone is haunted by the scale, but truth be told is all about how you look and feel. i truly feel my best and look my best when Im leaning out.. but the point of bodybuilding for me is to be the biggest and leanest possible.
RustyhookerThe scale can mentally be the bitter enemy. Clothes, pictures and people are better judges. I too can hate on the scale....grrr
bbondsI used to let the scale judge my progress but it got to the point where it became
mentally drainig so i said F the scale know i judge my progress from the mirror,
couldnt beleive hope much that scale controlled me.
Scale doesn't mean anything, im in the best shape I've been for 10 years, but the scale says I'm smaller. 2 months ago 260lbs ish, now just below 250 but I look way bigger than I did in my biggest times of 265+.
Mirror all the way.
I would trade the scale for a mirror any day brother..... scale dont mean much were muscle is concerned, we scaled suze yesterday and it showed 126lbs....to see her in the flesh you would put money on it that she is 140+ thick, dense, and vascular.
Pictures are shit too being one dimensional.... nothing like seeing a proper physique in the flesh to really blow the mind
I agree with you on that one. When your weights dropping yet you look in the mirror and look bigger? Fuck the scale idc what I weigh as long as I think I look good
I usually step on it every morning, I know I shouldn't. maybe 5 weeks ago injured my right shoulder ( muscle tear I think, nurse said it wasn't rotator cuff) 3 weeks ago back injury ( just a muscle pull i think, just won't go away). the scale didn't change but I started feeling pudgy. started pct a week and a half ago, appetite is in the crapper. then Tuesday night, food poisoning. I have not been home or on a scale in over a week and won't be for another week.
this morning my gf... ok now fiance.... told me I'm so small. not good for someone with a complex. not looking forward to stepping in the scale again, I know I will asap.
food poisoning sucks, especially when not in aas. the stomach and bowels don't stop until completely empty. so there is no nourishment to the muscles for over 24 hours. noprotein, no hydration.
the next six months will have to be complete dedication
BigBmajYou've got to explain to her that she cannot say you look small. That is an offense worth knocking the fiancé status off the table, in my book.
Get off the scale bro. It's fucking you up worse than me.
YUP!! Fuckin depressing. I dropped 10 pounds in the 16 days I was gone. It wasn't just her now, I think 3 or 4 other people have said I look a lot smaller since I got back last night. So it's not just the scale, it's the comments. Really makes me want to stay on aas, but I have to make it motivation to eat big and lift big and rest heavy.
BigBmajWell lets see here. You lost 10 lbs in 16 days. And I assume you are eating and drinking water correct? So it's not quality mass that's being lost. The hard work you put in was to build muscle. As long as you continue to eat adequate amounts of food - most of that muscle should stick around. Unless PCT was a total mess and you really are that catabolic.
So people are mentioning your weight loss. That sucks - same thing happened to me recently. But it just fueled me to push that much harder - to squeeze in that extra meal when I was stuffed - or to hit those extra reps when I was tired. In my mind I didn't say "yeah that's a bummer". I said "just fucking wait".
Lifting and gaining, like almost everything else, is not a linear process. It goes up and down, it's great and it's depressing. We get complements and we get people saying we look small.
I suggest you mention to these people that your leaning out for awhile so that you can push past your last plateau. And that it's the not so fun part of the process.
But most importantly stop stepping on the scale. The number is so arbitrary. You could go eat a giant popcorn full of sodium and down a 2 liter of Coke and a large pizza and get 6 of those pounds back tonight - if it was really all about the weight.
Maybe that helps a bit. But don't get me wrong I totally get your frustration - I've been there a million times.
Yeah it's a bit of a mindfuck, but gonna keep the comments in my head to use as motivation!
double post
she immediately realized she shouldn't have said it. I really wanted to say 'oh really I am? why is your ass so fuckin big?'
I agree with this. That's similar to you telling her she looks fat. It should be an unspoken rule that you never do that.
Does she know about your food poisoning/injuries/the fact you're in PCT? If so it's even more outrageous for her to say something like that.
Just throw that sumbitch out the window and be happy ;)
BigBmajI wouldn't dare own one. I just see the occasional one calling my name.
AnonYessss i hate the scale i dread stepping on it. Lost 10 pounds during pct it sucks.
BigBmajIsn't it amazing how a scale can change your perception as well? I can feel big, look in the mirror and think - wow looking good, then ten minutes later the scale tells me I'm small, and I shrink.
Wish I could sling mine but I'd just buy another one!
I'm on that fuker everyday, lol.
Trying to build and cut is frustrating enough.
Slaves to scales!!!
RustyhookerWhen cutting.....yup. Hate seeing weight drop but the end result will payoff nicely.
I always want to go up in weight on the scale but I been stuck at 215-220 for a long ass time now no matter how much I eat! In the mirror I look like a completely different person though so I try not to get too upset about it. But yes I feel you on the effect of the scale
BigBmajI know how's that even possible? I look totally different than I did 3 months ago but the scale says nothing to indicate that. It's amazing. I really can't figure it out.
Not sure man! I think tren is a recomp type of drug it causes mass gain and fat burn at the same time. I been using that for a while. Also my lifting style has been completely bodybuilding higher reps full range motion and less weight.
I think it's time to go back to something like 5x5 training routine for 2 months during my bulking cycle in the fall. That should help pack a few more pounds on especially because I'll be eating more.
BigBmajI've been thinking my workouts are too fast paced. I'm lifting hard and fast with little rest. I did like 5 x 5 heavy with lots of rest, heavy compounds and some ancillary work for arms. Just love that pump from high rep training.
