Politically Correct
I'm wondering about political correctness , it's been coming up around here a lot lately.
Awhile back I pointed out to ED that his post in the HGH thread was insensitive and I was irritated by it. The comment was a joke about a cousin turning gay after his first GH injection. There was no anger in his original post at all. That's what I brought to the table.
I've thought about this occasion since then and I think I've realized a few things about myself. I'm not politically correct at all, my close friends are black, gay, Puerto Rican, white trash, junkies, pretty much everything. And we call each other everything under the sun - no limits at all.
So my comment about his insensitively was not me being upset, it was just plain anger. I wanted to express anger and I felt justified in doing it. I think political correctness is a self righteous attempt at justified anger. Or a means of making people feel good because "we" don't say those terrible words anymore. Or it was an attempt to control the conversation, my constant need to control.
It doesn't take power away from words of hatred it actually gives them much more power.
I have always considered myself a pacifist, I went to a super liberal arts college and leaned all the right things to say and not say. But I was full of hatred, I probably still am. I certainly love a good opportunity to get "justifiably" pissed off.
I don't know it's something I'm thinking about today.
It's amazing what you can learn when you set the need to be right all the time aside.

Obviously I will curve my language depending on who I'm speaking to.. or filter I suppose is a better term.
Lets face it 99.9% of the people crucifying others about PC bullshit do not even belong to the minority they so righteously defend.. On the topic of gays.. I have best friends who are now pretty damn gay.. I mean they peal the wall paper when they walk into a room gay.. Now they use the word fag, gay, queer, faggot, pencil pusher, ass pirate, queen etc more than all of my straight friends do.. What's even funnier is they really don't care who uses the words in fact they're more likely to laugh when you use them.. Now if you walked up to them and they didn't know you and you started calling them faggot sure you might get some anger but I've never even seen someone do that tbh.. probably because they'd get their ass kicked.
Now we actually had a talk the other day about PC hippies and their take on them was they're annoying over sensitive pussies that need a hobby.. Is that ringing any bells? I'm pretty sure that's what most of the people on this site describe them as. I guess what I'm getting at is even the minorities of people being defended hate these PC guys like every one else.
My treatment to others is this - I respect you.. you respect me.. if we can't do that we can argue.. but don't you ever fucking dare make it a self righteous crusade and victimize yourself or others because of a potty word.. because I can make you a victim real quick if you wanna play that game =D
Political correctness is just another form of control...I seriously don't give a fuck what ppl think when I speak my truth...I pick and choose when to edit my speech...otherwise I enforce my first amendment right of free speech every day
HELL YEAH!!
RustyhookerYup yup!
Do me a favour guys and keep this thread PC.... lmao!
Says the Irishman.
LOLLLL
Very Nice post brother. Exactly my view on the subject.
+1
That's a pretty damn bold post for you to make BigB with PC being the popular thing these days. The thing about it, I happen to agree with you 100%. Sounds like we have a similar experience regarding friends as well. Maybe we're in the minority? I dunno
BigBmajI think the other thing about it is that it's not effective. It doesn't make people less ignorant to not be able to say certain things. Now we have to say silly shit like - I don't use the "n word" as if that's any better. I think it's probably worse because as I said the word is more powerful now.
With people arguing about these things it didn't shift my opinion - but I guess it got me thinking so maybe ?? Who knows?
It seems funny if you think about it.
