+ 1 Mailing gear to APO

ad

I've looked through older forums with this topic, none were helpful to my situation.

I'm deploying to the Middle East for another combat rotation as we speak. My gear didn't make it here in time, but I have someone who's willing to mail it to my APO address. It will be sent priority mail (can't be searched without warrant under the 4th amendment) from the US to my base.

I was wondering if anyone had any insight on this process, as far as it being a good idea or too risky.

Thanks for any input...

You are right in one sense about the 4th amendment applying to US Service Men. But you are also way off when it comes to the differences in which it applies. Go read about the National security clause. You will quickly change your views.

You don't want to do this, that is all I am going to say! Read up!

They are more than most know now because of a biological attack alone on a base. National Security of the Armed Forces will make the 4th Amendment look like it doesn't exist lol. I wouldn't mess with it they implemented things now that most don't even know about, and even though you might get something through the scrutiny is very high compared to say in other delivery places.

Have the gear shipped to a friend in the states, have him put package in a new USPS box and have him send it to you.

You don't wanna receive a sketchy ass package postmarked from Ukraine while you're there.

Yea I forgot to specify.

It would be sent to me in the form of a care package. I.e. snacks, toiletries, drinks etc.
The parcel would come from the states with the gear and care package stuff in it.

Would that work?

Yes. I had friends send me vodka put in a listerine bottle while I was in Iraq back in the days.

The real issue would be, where you gonna keep all your vials and needles when you're overseas? Better have a lock box bro, don't wanna get caught with that shit falling out of your ruck sack.

What's risky? A civilian gets caught -no big deal.
Getting caught in the military... dishonorable discharge? loss of a career? jail time?

The mail can be searched/inspected just like anyone elses. You do not have "special protection"

Bro I know, I'd hate for this to go south. But,

The odds of a package being searched cant be too high though. I mean this site is practically dedicated to sources that ship international numerous times daily. Those guys seemed to have it figured out, or am I missing something here?

Point being, what are you willing to risk should it happen.

Does either one have more of a right to search a parcel? If the package is searched I'm screwed.

Funny thing is the more I think about it, the less I'm inclined to going through with it lol...
