injury report

ad

injury seems to be common in our life style. shoulders, elbows, back, knees. tears, pulls, and such.
more often than not these injuries our are own fault. we lift to heavy, poor form, dont breath correctly, bad tempo or simply over use injuries. i have gotten more conscience about addressing certain kinds of injuries. stretching warming up and go at easier. changing my tempo or weight, focusing on the form better. these are things we should all be more aware of.

the reason i am writing this is,

Last night at the gym i did good mornings, not heavy, i did them with a fast tempo. when i got home my belly button was bothering . i felt it, a bulge WTF, pull up my shirt and yes oh yes. i gotten an umbilical hernia. with all my caution i did an exercise i normally do differently and poorly. today i went in to the hospital ER to get it checked. I go for surgery next week to have it fixed. Im out for 4 weeks. easy fix and ill be back at it 100% in 3 months. 3 months isnt long, but in our world its a lifetime.

use good judgement, be cautious, warm up correctly and dont do something you havent done before recklessly.

Hernias always seem to happen at the worst damn times. Mine happened this past fall in the middle of my contest prep and needless to say took me out the show. It was three months till I got back in the gym but muscle memory is an amazing thing so you will bounce back in no time.

Best wishes for your surgery mate.

We all need to be careful, injuries are a part of this game but as we get older being more cautious is never a bad thing.

FYI my training partner had the same injury about 3 years ago, so would have been 42-43 at the time. Healed up nicely and quite rapidly.

ill be 40 very very soon in less than 2 months Smile and im proud of my age. but yes as we got older the injuries come so much easier. i dont want to be out, but in a way i look forward to some down time i dont have to feel bad about taking, and i can give the body a well needed healing rest. i think i finally have that excuse to run HGH i been looking for lol

Get well brother, I know at our age it certainly seems like 3 months is 3 months we aren't getting back, but you will. Your muscles will not forget! Do what you can do in the meantime. I feel for you tho (and hope I am not next) Knock on wood. Smile

keep your calories up mate, up your protein and carbs, i done both sides inaugrial hernias, key hole surgery , mesh repair, the fkd thing with hernias is all excersizes affect them........ good luck.

i had 4 inguinal hernias years ago, got them fixed with mesh and have never had an issue since. i believe i wasnt breathing right during the movement and doing it to fast, so putting more pressure than needed in the abdomen. plus i had surgery there in the past laparoscopic and they went in through the belly button. so the are was weakened in the first place, just surprised its taken this long to happen after i think about it. i reduce the hernia myself last night (pushed it back in) ouch now that hurt

so to add to my original post,
make sure you breath correctly through the movement :(

shitty man, heal quick. I do good mornings every once and a while, but even with light weight and slow reps I'm afraid of injury.
